Scenic harbour

Parga is an incredible resort, located on the north west coast of mainland Greece overlooking the Ionian Sea and the small islands of Paxos and Antipaxos. The resort is extremely popular with local tourists as well as international visitors. The town is built around a scenic harbour complete with impressive yachts vying for space alongside the local fishing boats. Whitewashed buildings seem to tumble down the hillside towards the water. Parga is a perfect place to shop and explore with little winding cobbled streets leading you up, down and across the resort. Be sure to stop for a local delicacy or a refreshing drink.

Take a water taxi to Valtos Beach

The local beach is small but popular. Alternatively, take a short water taxi to the larger Valtos Beach. This beach is a long stretch of soft white sand, perfect for long days soaking in the sun. When the sun sets, head into Parga for food and entertainment.

Visit the Venetian Castle

Regular boat trips leave Parga and you can explore the surrounding islands and coastline. Look out for trips offering lunch and a swim – a great way to spend the day. Popular options include Corfu and the two smaller islands of Paxos and Antipaxos. On the dry land, the beautiful Venetian Castle perched high above the town is worth a visit.

Up and over the fortified headland to the west of the town lies the beautiful and popular beach of Valtos. Regular water taxis leave from Parga and can deposit you at the small harbour in the bay next door. The long sweep of sand is backed by great places to eat and drink and the water is busy with every imaginable activity. Further east lies the more remote beach of Lichnos. This idyllic spot is backed by scented pine forests and has several places to find a drink and snack. There are also water sports on offer in Lichnos.

Top Tip:

It’s possible to walk through the olive groves to get to Lichnos Beach but the most popular options are taxis – either on water or dry land.
