The popular tourist resort of Kardamena is located on the eastern coast of Kos, approximately 30 kilometres from the capital, Kos town. The resort is the perfect choice for holidaymakers looking for a lively beach break.

The wonderful sandy beach is the main attraction in Kardamena. The shallow bay is ideal for swimming and safe for families with small children and the soft golden sand is the ideal place to relax and soak up the sun. If you prefer something a little more active, try some water sports or visit the mystical Temple of Apollo, the Christian Basilicas or the Ancient theatre.

When the sun sets in Kardamena, visitors head out for a night on the town, enjoy a relaxing meal in one of the many restaurants then spend the rest of the night partying in the bars and clubs until the sun rises.

Kardamena is suited to those seeking a relaxing beach break, chilling out on the beach by day and partying by night.

Kardamena is a great resort. There are a lot of lively places to go to but there are also a lot of quiet bars and restaurants etc to go if you want something a bit more sedate.

Kardemena Kos

Spent a week here in Kardemena, the resort retains some of it's original history of being a fishing community, the small harbour runs boat trips to a nearby beautiful island that is tranquil and has a dormant volcano on it that you can walk down to. There is a frequent bus service that takes you into Kos town where you can go further afield and to Turkey for the day.

great for young and old alike, something for everyone

great place to stay, things to do for everyone, great restaurants, bars and people. the greek have always been very friendly, this is the 8th time back for us, and we have already booked to go again! there are things to do all day and all night! trips out of the town, lazing by the beach or chatting to people in the bars, there really is something for everyone! if you want a good meal at a good price with fantastic service then head to pelagos on the harbour front, mike and dimitri are fabulous and kat and the other staff are great too. the beach is lovely, there are water sports with craig also and the sun beds are generally free if you eat with the restaruant who owns them! stone roses is a great bar to go to where you are made to feel very welcome - the fish bowls are very good value if you like your cocktails! all in all a wonderful place to holiday and missing it already - only got home tea time yesterday!!

The best thing about my stay was ...

the place, the people, the weather, the views! cant pick one thing! x

simply the best..

i have visited kardamena several times over the last ten years and this hotel is the best ive stayed in by a country mile.having a 7 month old baby when we booked i asked for a few requests, cot, room on an upper floor etc.... upon arrival we were given the keys and found all our requests had been granted and then some as we had been up-graded into a large family room.i went down stairs to thank the night desk man and was met by the manager who had taken the time to learn my name and was told that if we needed anything else to just ask and they would see what could be done.the food and drink in the hotel was reasonably priced, the rooms were cleaned every day except on sundays and the hotel itself was spotless.but the thing that really stood out for us were the staff.they were courteous friendly and did there jobs to a man top notch from the cleaners to the bar men to the manager all were A 1.a special mention go's to the desk staff who are the nicest friendliest and helpful hotel staff i have ever encountered.the only problem we had was a little blip with the air conditioning unit as after one day the unit in the bedroom developed a fault and wasn't quite as cold as the other unit.this problem was sorted with great efficiency and we were even compensated to a level i never expected.so a big thank you to everyone who works at the hotel for making ours and baby eli's 2 week stay the best ever and we hope to see everyone again some time in October.i know this review may seem a little gushing but believe me our stay and the service we received really was that good !!!!! 5 stars . all the best to everyone there for this and every season........ j robinson.

Kardamena Town

Nice place to visit. Lovely harbour area and beach with some stunning boats on display. Thriving shopping area with lots of little restuarants and bars. Catch a boat trip on the pirate boat, you will not regret it. Fantastic day out.

Do not believe all you read.

Plenty to see & do if you want. Local people very friendly and hospitable. Noise stops at midnight as discos / clubs etc are soundproofed so if you want to enjoy yourself all night you can. Plenty of quieter bars if you are not so young! Main beach gets busy but walk to outer areas of town for a relaxing day. Try Chrissopolus Taverna, Paradise Restaurant or one of the other local restaurants for great food. Plenty of coach or boat trips from harbour and regular local buses. Beaches clean, sea is clear, sunbeds for hire and sun shine just great!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Kardamena itself.

Closing down earlier each year

I've been staying in Kardamena for 11 years nw and noticed that the influx of all inclusive resorts has had a drastic effect on the village. Many bars and restaraunts are closing down, those that are fighting are ending the season earlier each year, my opinion Kardamena will not exsist as a resort village that people will want o stay at within the next 10-15 years, A major uk airline has pulled most of their UK-Kos flights in October, again hitting trade and shortening the season, these traders will not start up again next year they struggle to earn a living over 6 months, never mind 5, and the all inclusive brigade walk into town during the day for maybe a coffee if they're lucky, If you enjoy visiting smallish towns/villages for your holidays then visit Kardemena soon, there's a great atmosphere with freindly locals, but like I say it wont be around for long the way things are going

Very friendly and quiet in May

Kardamena is a small beach side town, and in May was relatively quiet. We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and peaceful setting. Though it probably gets livelier in July/August as there were a few clubs around.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Sea view from the bars

Nice resort, but recession is hitting it hard

Our hotel was to the east of the resort, a few minutes walk into the town, however it seems that the recession (plus the new 'all inclusive' hotels) have taken their toll on what would be a much livelier resort than currently. It seems that the shops and bars/restaurants on the outskirts have been closing down with only those in the hub of the town keeping their heads above water. This is such a shame, and those who are surviving are competing strongly with each other by trying to lure you into their establishment. This can sometimes be annoying being stopped every 2 minutes on a promenade walk but is understandable given the economic climate they are facing. Other than this, Kardemena is a lovely little resort which I would revisit, hopefully next year. I recommend Captain's restaurant which provides excellent service and food - you'll never reach the dessert stage unless you have a bottomless stomach!! Only thing that spoiled it for me was the Club 18-30 bar crawls that I witnessed in a couple of bars - the Drink Aware campaign definitely takes a battering on that particular trip - the reps openly encourage young girls (mainly) to down as many drinks as possible in the 40 mins they are at a bar (probably on commission) - my teenage daughter was with me and could not believe what she saw - hopefully it has put her off such adventures, I only wish.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The lovely harbour and promenade walk with the various bars and restaurants along the way

Unexciting

Not a lot to recommend it, although must admit did not try any of the tavernas. Bar Street offered a variety of, yes ... bars but other than that I found only tacky tourist shops, most selling the same souvenirs. There were various travel agencies offering trips. I would recommend the trip to Nyssiros and its volcano and pretty harbour village. I would have liked to visit Rhodes and Symi but was too late - I was only there for one week and missed the once-weekly Monday sailing. Had I not been on my own I would have liked to hire a car to explore the other parts of the island which may have been prettier than Kardamena.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Hmmm - can't really think of anything impressive ....

Tired

This place is desperately in need of a revamp - or else it will die a slow death.
