Afandou is a relatively quiet resort, although is one of the largest and oldest villages on the Island, filled with fruit-bearing and olive trees. Located 5 km from Faliraki, there is a white stone and shingle beach stretching over 3 km with areas of rocks and caves. Ideal for golf lovers, there is an 18-hole golf course and the village is famous for its carpets. A visit to the unique church of Our Lady Katholiki is also a must, decorated with wall paintings originating from the 17th Century. Whilst retaining its traditional village atmosphere the resort's town square is full of life with cafe-bars and all kinds of shops. A variety of tavernas and bars line the main street and nightlife is relaxed with music and karaoke to be enjoyed. Just outside Afandou village, visitors can find the monastery of Agios Nektarios surrounded by pine trees and has a drinking fountain fed by springs in the surrounding hills. Afandou is a charming village offering a typically Greek, relaxed atmosphere, ideal for couples and families wanting to get away from it all.

lovely village

Afandou a lovely friendly village resort with a very long and uncommercialised beach. When the road works and improvemnets on the beach road have been completed it will look great. Many fine places to eat in the village whether english meals or greek meals. We always enjoy sitting in the square drinking and watching the world go by, very relaxing.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The relaxed atmosphere

Afandou village

Afandou is an expanding typically Greek village with lots of places to eat and drink. The village people are very friendly. Probably not so well suited to those who are looking for noisy night life although Falaraki is only about 10 minutes away by bus/taxi. The beach is about 2.5 km from the centre of Afandou but the Dotto train will take you there and back.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The people are very friendly and the village is still not too big.

Nice little village

A real village where you can see not only tourists but also the locals. Great bars and restaurants.

Great little village with several bars for entertainment and eating.

A typical unspoilt Greek village which has not been commercialised. There are several bars and food outlets and some of the bars are quite lively. Best of all in my opinion is Life Bar run by Yannis Koumnakis which provides rock music and requests from all eras. The beach is long and relatively sparsely populated so that you can find peace and quiet if you wish. A Roadtrain is available to take you there and back throughout the day. More lively Falaraki is about 5 kilometers away and Rhodes Town 10 kilometers. Both are easily accessible via taxis.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Very friendly Greek locals and great entertainment at Life Bar

Small but nice!

Afandou is a small village with just a few bars and restaurants, supermarket, bakeries etc. You must try the Acapulco bar (Mike and Dimtri are hilarious), also Mikes bar up on the square was very good. There is a little restaurant that we went to on the right hand side that does a 10 euro all you can eat and drink meze. Fabulous!!!!! Falaraki it isn't but if you want a quiet family holiday Afandou is okay for you

The best thing about my stay was ...
