The centre of tourist activity in Sharm El Sheikh, Naama Bay is a great choice for your Egyptian holiday in the sun. This sheltered bay located right in the centre of Sharm has become a busy and colourful resort buzzing with activity both day and night. With warm, clear waters and stunning coral reefs, Naama Bay is the perfect place for snorkelling and diving. By night the resort comes alive with bright lights, bold music and crowds of revellers heading to the many clubs and bars, including the world-famous Pacha nightclub.

Sun, sea and sand for all

Naama Bay attracts all kinds of holidaymakers from families to scuba divers to party animals. You’ll find lots of hotels to choose from here, and with plenty of unique bazaars, shops and markets you won’t have any trouble picking up a bargain or two to take back home. If you decide not to go all-inclusive, then the wide and varied selection of restaurants and bars on the palm tree-lined promenade won’t disappoint. The cafes are great for people-watching, too.

Sights under the sea

For the very best snorkelling and scuba diving, Sharks Bay is just a bit further down the coast. It’s well known for its crystal clear waters, huge schools of fish and excellent diving sites, which you can access straight from the shore. The underwater scenery here is unmatched, and you’ll even have the opportunity to explore a famous shipwreck.

Things to do in Naama Bay

On the beach in Naama Bay

Though the beaches of Naama Bay – and Sharm El Sheikh in general – pull in visitors from all over the world for their spectacular diving spots, the golden sand and scorching hot weather are also perfect if you just want to kick back, relax and work on your tan.

Top Tip:

Only about 20m of the beach in Naama Bay is public – the rest is privately owned by hotels and restaurants, although many won’t mind as long as you don’t use the sunbeds.

Eat and drink in Naama Bay

From familiar fast food joints to fresh seafood, traditional Egyptian kebabs to modern glitzy establishments, Naama Bay has a bit of everything when it comes to restaurants. The main strip is a good place to find tasty international food at reasonable prices.

Top Tip:

Take care when ordering pork – sometimes what’s advertised as pork on a menu is actually salted beef!

Naama Bay Nightlife

For buzzing bars, neon lights and famous clubs where you can dance your cares away all night long, look no further than the promenade – also known as the Nightlife Mile. Venues such as Pacha, Little Buddha and Camel Bar are not to be missed.

Top Tip:

If you’re getting a cab to or from your hotel, it’s a good idea to agree on a price before you set off to avoid any disputes later on.

Shopping in Naama Bay

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping in Naama Bay. There’s an abundance of shops and stalls selling all sorts of goods, including jewellery, souvenirs and “designer” products. Lots of places stay open into the evening, too.

Top Tip:

If you find yourself getting hassled, a polite “no thank you” is usually enough to get the shopkeeper to move on.

Things to see in Naama Bay

As a modern tourist development, Naama Bay is not especially known for sightseeing – the best sights are undoubtedly those under the sea, so to see them you’ll need a little sense of adventure! Boat trips and diving safaris are easily arranged, and you can snorkel around the coral reefs just off the shore even if you don’t have any diving experience.

Top Tip:

Some of the most beautiful coral reefs can be found off El Fanar Beach in Hadaba, which is just a 10 minute taxi ride away from Naama Bay.

We Recommend

Pomodoro

Part of the Camel Hotel, this Italian-inspired restaurant comes highly recommended. This is due to the consistently high quality of food and service which keeps people returning time and time again. If you’re tired of the hustle and bustle that Naama Bay is famous for, this is the place to go for a relaxed atmosphere.

Hard Rock Café Sharm El Sheikh

You’ll find the usual high standards of service and musical memorabilia here that the Hard Rock brand has come to represent. This hugely popular bar serves up generous portions of delicious American style food, as well as great cocktails. Though it’s part of a chain, the Hard Rock Café isn’t without its character – you might get to enjoy the sight of the entire team of waiters dancing along to the music!

International Shopping and Tourism Festival

If you’re in Sharm El Sheikh in July, make sure you bring a spare suitcase and some extra cash – as this is when shops, restaurants and hotels all slash their prices to celebrate and encourage tourism. It’s a great time not only to pick up a bargain but to enjoy the positive atmosphere all over the city.

Lively and friendly. Good restaurants and shopping.

A small and cozy tourist-designed town. Very clean and safe. Lots of restaurants and bars. Sit down for a bedouin tea and the traditional shisha. Relax and enjoy. In the evenings the town is very lively with colored lights all over. Lots of music and dancing in the restaurants. Just love it! Also the boardwalk is superb, with all the restaurants and beaches with lots of beach activities - and possibilities for snorkeling, diving and boattrips.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The friendly people along the boardwalk

very good

Namma Bay has everything that you need from a holiday. there are plenty of bars shops and eating places and less hassle than we have experienced on past holidays to Egypt. by night it is extremely lively and noisy but great to wanter through the streets and see the sights. our hotel meant that we were a short walk from this which meant that we could take it or leave it. im not sure that i would have liked to stay in the busy area though.

Lively and welcoming.

Naama itself is a lively resort and has lots to offer whether you are looking for shopping, nice restaurants, sheesha bars or just somewhere to sit and relax and watch the world go by. There are nightclubs if you want them such as Pacha, Little Buddha and Hard Rock Cafe, but you will be spoilt for choice with sheesha bars and other bars which carry on into the early hours.

THE CENTRAL DRAG AT NAAMA BAY IS LIVELY AND ENTERTAINING, BE PREPARED TO BE APPROACHED HOWEVER THEY DO TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. TAXI'S ARE CHEAP BUT ALWAYS AGREE YOUR PRICE BEFORE YOU GET IN, WE HAD A FANTASTIC TAXI DRIVE WE USED THE WHOLE STAY,ALWAYS AVAILABLE AND NEVER RIPPED US OFF AS IT DOES HAPPEN. THE SHOW WE SAW AT "ALF LEILA WU LEILA WAS AMAZING AND HAD A REAL EGYPTION FEEL TO IT, THE SNAKE CHARMER WAS SUPERB SO WERE THE TWIRLING MEN, TAXI THERE YOURSELF AND ITS ONLY £2.50 BRILLIANT VALUE.
