Zadar Hotels and Apartments
Zadar is a large town on the Adriatic coastline of Croatia, north of Sibenik. The old town is built on an impressive peninsula overlooking the many islands dotted around the Adriatic.
If you have an interest in local history and religion, Zadar is the place for you. There are 36 churches lining the old cobbled streets of the old town. If you get through all 36 you can take in more of the local history via the Archaeological Museum.
The impressive seafront boasts its own unique soundtrack thanks to the ‘Sea Organ’. A series of pipes are embedded in the sea wall allowing the waves to create their own special tunes. This backing track makes for a relaxing and interesting walk along the promenade.
There are two main beaches in the area. Kolovare beach is a popular option for locals in the know. Families tend to migrate to the more relaxed Vitrenjak beach. The soft sand and clear water make for the perfect combination. The local sailing club is the place to unwind and enjoy a drink or snack.
Zadar is a good base from which to explore the best of the Adriatic. There are many islands to discover as well national parks to visit.
