Playa del Ingles is a well-developed holiday resort on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. Sandwiched between the smaller resorts of Maspalomas and San Agustin, Playa del Ingles is a real holiday hotspot. The resort is popular with families seeking active beach holidays but the lively gay scene also attracts visitors looking for late nights in the Playa del Ingles bars and clubs.
Active beach life
The large beach is perfect for long lazy days soaking up the year round sunshine. More active visitors can scuba dive and wind surf. If you head down the beach towards Maspalomas you will be faced by the impressive sand dunes that line the coast. The area is a protected nature reserve but you can cross on foot or by camel. The area is dotted with snack bars and cafes as well as places to shower the sea and sand away.
Shopping and waterparks
The resort offers the best in both day time and all night entertainment. There are several significant commercial centres plus the boutique lined Plaza Maspalomas for some retail therapy. You will also find weekly markets offering the best local produce as well as jewellery and leather goods. If you want to get out and about on your Playa del Ingles holiday you should visit the waterpark in Maspalomas and certainly take time for a trip north to the impressive volcanic formation of Roque Nublo.

On the beach in Playa del Ingles
The beach runs from San Agustin in the north where the sand is quite a narrow slip down to the resort of Maspalomas in the south where the beach expands to become a deep, fun filled paradise. There are several breakwaters lining the coast which help to provide a really safe environment for families with toddlers hoping to paddle. Things to see in Playa del Ingles
The sand dunes of Maspalomas are the most obvious attraction and very hard to ignore. The dunes lie to the west of Play del Ingles and stretch back and across the southern tip of the island. There is easy access and they are an incredible sight up close.
Rather than walking across the dunes, take a camel trek. It’s a great way to explore the towering dunes.
