Playa Blanca Holidays & Hotels

For a sophisticated holiday in Lanzarote, Playa Blanca is the perfect choice. With a large yacht marina, plenty of cafés and a relaxed atmosphere, Playa Blanca is ideal for families looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. This fast-growing resort is located at the southern tip of Lanzarote – one of the most popular destinations in the Canary Islands - and is home some of the best apartments and hotels on the island.

Hotels in Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca offers a variety of different accommodation for all holidaymakers, from luxury hotels to apartments and private villas. For those that prefer to be in the middle of all the action, there are a variety of different tourist rental apartments and small bungalows right next to the centre of town. Placing you in the centre of the action, you’re only a short walk from the lively bars, restaurants and shops.

If you prefer a quiet and relaxing break, there are lots of Playa Blanca resorts to choose from. From cheap, three-star to five-star luxury, there is definitely something for every budget. For those with young children or larger groups wanting to get the most out of their budget, most resorts offer an all-inclusive plan.

Where to stay

Playa Blanca Beach

If you want to stay in the centre of Playa Blanca, there are lots of accommodation opportunities close to the beachfront and promenade. Whilst you won’t find many resorts in this area, there are one or two places that are within a 10-15 minute walk of the beach. For those staying in Lanzarote on a self-catering basis, this is definitely one of the best areas to be in.

Dorada Beach

Just a short walk from Playa Blanca Beach is Dorada Beach, a lively promenade in the Playa Blanca resort. Whilst the area is similar to Playa Blanca beach, there are a lot more hotels situated here. Dorada Beach is ideal for those that want the luxury or an all-inclusive experience, without feeling as though they’re confined to their hotel.

What to see

When it comes to going out and about in Playa Blanca, you are in the perfect spot for a day at the beach. Some of the best beaches on the island are located in and around the area, with Papagayo Natural park also located just moments from the resort.  This incredible series of unspoilt beaches are definitely some of the best in the whole of the Canary Islands and often the ones you’ll see featured in all of the tourist board advertising.

In the centre of Playa Blanca there is a small beach. It is best enjoyed during the summer months as it can be rocky during the winter. Just a short walk from Playa Blanca, there is another beach featuring sun loungers, umbrellas and plenty of surrounding cafes and ice cream stands. Ideal for those looking for a break from the pool, this beach makes a good afternoon trip during your holiday.

As well as the above-mentioned beaches, there are also two man-made beaches that are sheltered by breakwaters. These are called Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada, and most resorts and hotels will offer a free shuttle service to these beaches. Both offer good snorkelling opportunities, safe bathing and lots of different restaurants and shops.

On top of incredible beaches, Playa Blanca isn’t short of holiday activities. There are daily boat excursions and island-hopping trips, boat trips to Corralejo in Fuerteventura, an incredible local spa, scuba diving lessons and day trips, lots of shopping facilities and even some interesting cultural attractions to visit. This includes the Castillo de las Colorados and the Faro de Pechiguera.

Whilst Playa Blanca is not widely known for its nightlife, there are still plenty of bars in Centro Comercial Papagayo where you can party well into the early hours of the morning. Although most bars will be quiet during the winter months, they definitely make up for it during the summer with lively parties and themed events. If dancing and karaoke are not your idea of a good night out, the Marina Rubicon offers some more sophisticated jazz and cocktail bars for your holiday.

What to eat

If you’re looking for variety then the best place to visit is the seafront in the centre of town; this is where you will find the highest concentration of restaurants. Whilst there are others throughout Playa Blanca, this area is widely known for its incredible eateries. Faro Park, in the far west of Playa Blanca, also has a great selection of restaurants.

As a resort that has been purpose-built for tourism, Playa Blanca has all of the normal tourist shops that you would expect. Most stores are located along the beach promenade; however, you may find that there are not as many as you would in other popular Lanzarote resorts. For a market style experience, Playa Dorada is certainly worth a visit.

If you’re looking for something a little different and want to experience a more upmarket style of shopping, the Marina Rubicon is definitely the place for. With a number of different boutique clothing outlets and souvenir shops, you will find plenty of places to spend your holiday funds.

Playa Blanca, the best resort on the whole of Lanzarote.

Playa Blanca is the best spot on Lanzarote in my opinion. The seafront and harbour is a great location, some fantastic restaurants. including what we consider to be the best Indian restaurant in the world ' Spices' .. Seriously, this place is incredible. If you like super hot British curries, then this probably isn't the place, instead, the curries are more about flavour than heat...spicy but wonderfully flavourful. The chef used to work at the 5* Marriot in Bombay and it shows. Also great to have a couple of shandies in the Kings Head, while the football is on, looking out to sea. Love the place! Costa Teguise is a modern resort, and has no soul in my opinion. Peurto Del Carmen is for younger people who like a good drink and the nightlife.... Playa is more chilled!

The best thing about my stay was ...

The waterfront, restaurants and shops.

Fantastic Resort - this was our 10th trip

Beautiful resort, lots of good restaurants. Its very clean and tidy and well maintained. Good restaurants to try are Tipico Canario next to the Jumbo Chinese. Also Jumbo Chinese. They are both on the promenade at the far end ie the opposite end from the ferry port. All restaurants we've visited have been good but the above 2 are our favourties.

Playa Blanca

Excellent beach of golden sand with just enough to do. Spent most evenings in Rubicon Marina browsing the shops and eating in excellent Italian Pizzeria followed by few drinks in the Jungle Bar or Mollys - both have live music nightly. Also ate in the Princessa Yaiza hotel - ( dinner twice in the Italian & Ice creams in the gelaterie). - Expensive but excellent - lovely for a change. Note the resort is nothing like Puerto del Carmen - everything finishes much earlier here.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Everything - Fab holiday
