Bruges is a picturesque city known for its canals, cobbled lanes and its well-preserved Gothic, Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. Classified as a world heritage site, Bruges is popular with travellers who come to visit the city’s beautiful churches, sample world-famous Belgian chocolate, shop in the city’s traditional craft shops and admire the diverse collections of Flemish art in the city’s museums and art galleries. Visitors to the city can climb the belfry in the city square, take a canal or carriage ride, or simply sit back and relax in the many pubs and bars which serve a great selection of local Belgian beers.

Bruges - Beautiful and Historic

We visited Bruges on a P&O mini cruise. The city is beautiful and thoroughly worth a visit. We opted to spend a night in Bruges and are so pleased we did. It's extremely busy in the daytime so we were able to take a more leisurely stroll around towards evening and take lots of photos without obstruction. Take a good pair of walking shoes with you and don't be afraid to venture off the main roads to find some hidden gems. We found a couple of nice bars and cafes to eat well way from the main tourist areas. Everyone was welcoming and even though we couldn't read the menu everyone spoke English so we were able to communicate easily.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Beautiful architecture, friendly people.

A beautiful city

Watch the movie, "In Bruges", before you go. Ignore Colin Farrel's character and make a note of the places Brendon Gleason visits. Also, make sure you find the bar Cambrinus if you are a beer fan. They have 400 different Belgian beers to chose from and the food is good there too.

Beautiful Bruges

Small city, ideal for a short break. The people are welcoming and friendly. Plus the competition for tourist custom keeps the prices reasonable.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Bruges can be appreciated again and again.

Lovely city but expensive

Beautuful city but very touristy and overpriced especially in the Burg. Countless chocolate and lace shops. We only went for the Flea Market which was good and is held 3 times a year.

Mussels from Brussels

Bruges is a beautiful town with a charming and romantic atmosphere. Stay for a couple of nights and you should be able to visit most places. However Bruges would also be a great spot to visit other places around Belgium such as the historic battle fields. The brewery tour is interesting, you get to see lovely views over Bruges and a free beer at the end. There are loads of bars in Bruges with a variety of great tasting beers and friendly staff. However the cafe de kuppe is a must with over 100 different types and a different glass for each one! Also if you're visiting during the summer a nice lunch of mussels, French fries and a glass of wine by the canal watching the world go by is a must. Enjoy!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Beer!

Fascinating city.

Lots to see and do in Bruges.Beautiful buildings, churches ,and plentiful shopping streets.Numerous restaurants, but can be pricey.Try the delicious chips with mayo or waffles with strawberries and cream-both available take away! Also a good base to see other places -trains are fast and cheap.Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels within easy reach.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Small and beautiful.
