Salzburg Reviews

Pleasant city to spend a few days in
Renee, Madrid
Salzburg is a small city, but it is definitely worth spending a couple of days there and going for day trips as well. The city in itself is beautiful, and the views from the fortress are very impressive. If you have the time while there, I would advise going out to the Untersberg, provided it is a nice day of course!
The best thing about my stay was ...
Samll city

Salzburg is a great city to get around

Salzburg is a lovely place especially in the winter months when it is snowy.
The best thing about my stay was ...
Hoe close things are so easy to get about.

Lovely city to explore.
Pippa, Sheffield
You don’t need a long time to explore Salzburg City. It is a great weekend break as you can cover most things. If you want to explore the Salzburg State and Lake District you will need longer. We spent less than 48hrs in the Old Town and felt if we'd had much longer we would run out of things to do. As a big Sound of Music fan we did a tour showing us the highlights of where the film was set and where part of the original story came from. The tour takes you out of the old town as well through to the Lake District giving you a chance to take in some of its beauty, even if only briefly. There are several tours available, from intimate 8 man max tours, to a full coach load with sing-a-longs. The old town is lovely to explore with cobbled streets, alley ways and lots of beautiful buildings. You can explore the cathedral and are some lovely museums to potter around. Set in a valley you are surrounded by cliff sides, one of which you can hop in a lift for 3 euros to get to the top and take in the views from above – well worth it. From here, you can walk around to the fortress and for 6euros go inside, I didn’t think it would be worth it, but so glad I did it! Again, excellent views, great bit of history, nice food and once inside the fortress you can really take on board how big it is. The walk took about 40 minutes and gives you a chance to see different views of the mountain ranges that surround Salzburg.
The best thing about my stay was ...
The continual bells that echo around the city.
