Very disappointed we stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and had a wonderful time how different this stay was the facilities advertised did not exist both the bar and restaurant were closed . We had wanted a quite holiday but didn't expect to be on our own we were the only guests as most of the rooms have been sold off the staff only attended the site for 2 or 3 hours a day and not at all on weekend. My husband put the light on in the bathroom and was thrown across the room with electric shock which blew all the circuit's to the apartment there was no one on site to sort it out and no emergency numbers at reception to call anyone eventually we found the fuse board behind a picture frame with no cover it was 11am the following day before we could report it there was no apology or concern if we were ok the manager just said he would make a note of it . We were appalled that this building is still being marketed as a holiday . There is a lot off other dangerous things which we have photos off if alpha rooms is interested in viewing I hope that someone will read this review and take care not to take money or send anyone else to these apartments
The best thing about my stay was...The sunshine

cheap and cheerful
sharon , scotland
I stayed at Guanabara on the 27th June for 1 week i got it mega cheap with alpharooms and was a little worried about what i would get.I was surprised it was a great place to stay very clean our room b200 had fantastic views onto the harbour,i often sat outside on our balcony taking in the view. However with a view like this it meant we were at the top of a massive hill it was ok walking down but coming back up wasnt too good but its only 2euro 62cent for taxi back from beach. There is a small supermarket across the road for everything you need or a bigger one just down the hill.I am looking to go back here next year so would recommend the Guanabara.
The best thing about my stay was...It was not busy so my 2 kids had the pool to there selves most days.

Great good hotel and peaceful
Julian Cheeseright, Cowes Isle of Wight
A good very clean hotel. Pool overlooks harbour. We were next door to main hotel but good room with a massive balcony. Small shop open 8-3 adequate for most things. Bigger supermarket a 10 min walk plus an Irish bar and a number of restaurants one of which was particularly excellent, best meal all week. Ask for Mario or Joseph. 20 min walk to main to main town but uphill on way back but taxi only 4 Euros. SC facility only 2 ring electric hob and toast had to be made in frying pan! Kettle extra. Staff excellent and even took our bags to room on arrival! An excellent relaxing stay, we will definitely go back to Guanabara Park.
The best thing about my stay was...Peaceful, good clean hotel, excellent staff.

Great relaxing break
Denise O'neill, Dungannon
Stayed here from 25 to 30 October and could not find one fault with this hotel. The room was spotless with a fantastic view down onto harbour. Not a sound to be heard at night which meant we had a peaceful nights sleep. The maid came every day cleaned, washed dishes, made beds and left fresh towels. We asked if we could stay on in room the day we were leaving and we were let stay in room until 3pm which was when bus picked us up. I would highly recommend Guanabara for a relaxing break. Most of the clientele were Scandinavian couples and were very friendly. Can't wait to return again.
The best thing about my stay was...Peaceful rooms. Friendly staff. Maid service.

Just returned from Guanabara Park this morning after spending the last two weeks there. First of all, the accommodation is basic but it's clean. We booked self catering and it's the first time ever that we found a complimentary 2 litre bottle of water as well as washing liquid and sponge waiting for us. It was this gesture that told me straight away that this place was going to be different from all the rest! Due to the fact it has got so expensive to eat out due the euro, the next day I up-graded to all-inclusive. The food was good. I know some people might disagree with me, but my wife, children and I couldn't fault it. If it's a room with a view you're looking for, then this is it!! Lets move on to the staff. Paul, the English barman was out of this world. He is so friendly and helpful and his 'International knock-back quiz' every evening from 9 - 10pm was great and it helped bring everybody around the bar at night which was a great opportunity to get to meet the other guests. The other bar staff in the evening were also great.
The best thing about my stay was...The staff and the views

Stayed here in May 2011. Did not find the staff at reception particularly welcoming or friendly but not otherwise either. Apartments absolutely spotless with regular fresh towels. Last apartments on this side of hill. Booking info said they had supermarket in complex but this is only in high season, May not high season so no supermarkets. Very quite, the week we stayed only 2 people in bar on one night, no one else any other night so we went down the hill every night to the centre of Puerto Rico. Not a problem as taxis very cheap and so is car hire. Would use these apartments again but would not recommend them for people with small children who would like some night life. Not in quite season anyway. All said the apartments are good value for money for people without children. Guanabara apts to Amadores beach and back walking 1 hour and 10 mins, so not too far from anywhere.

Very clean, Beautiful views, lovely swimming pool and sun loungers. Staff very friendly and accomadating. I had no change, and they had no change, i needed to ring Ireland and they let me use their phone in reception. Safe 12 euros with 5 euro deposit. Room cleaned every 2nd day. Its about a mile and a half away form the comerical shopping centre, where everything goes on, but its only 3euro for a taxi. we walked down most days and got a taxi back as the hills are a killer. Only 10 mins form beach. We hired a car for 3 days which was very handy. Its a very quite spot, nice and relaxing. We couldn't complain. Maria & Gerry ( Ireland)
The best thing about my stay was...Pool and sunbathing

Could not have faulted the Guanabara Park Apartments.
june rowan, cork
Comfortable apartment with a fabulous view over the marina and the sea. Staff were extremely helpful and polite. The housekeeping staff were very efficient. Stayed during May which apparently is a quiet month in the Canaries, so nice and peaceful and relaxing. All of the complex was very clean and well maintained. The apartments ( as with most of the accomodation in Puerto Rico) was up a steep hill so you do need to be fit. Taxis are readily available and cost 3 Euro and 60 cent from the town centre. A Spar supermarket is just down the hill from the apartments and also restaurants and bars so no need to go into the town centre. There is also a taxi stand there. The apartments are situated in a nice quiet area away from the traffic and general 'resort noise', it would take about 15 minutes to walk to the centre. Altogether a great location and excellent value.
The best thing about my stay was...Clean, comfortable apartment with a wonderful view from a totally private balcony.

would definitely stay here again. The appartments were lovely and big with ours having a great view, the only thing is you pay for the view in steps up to the complex, there a killer! Maid in 4 times in the week. Towels changed each time and fresh sheets once. There was goodish entertainment twice in the week with a good all you can eat BBQ.
The best thing about my stay was...the view and the clenliness

Philip Robertson, Dundee, Scotland.
Stayed here from 16th to 30th May, maids regular and thorough.Rooms decorated in standard self catering Puerto Rico style chunky pine,2 ring hotplate kettle, toaster, coffe maker etc. Apartments are situated at the top of Aqua La Perra valley, it is a bit of a climb but 2 50ish adults managed the walk up and down every night for 2 weeks. Area was very peaceful during our stay apart from a couple of nights during the second week when the regular "Entertainment!!!!!" found it neccessary to use a microphone full blast between 8pm and midnight for quiz questions and ?? singing for what seemed to be a very small number of people. We had a very peaceful and pleasant stay in lovely surroundings we would return and reccommend to others without hesitation.

Pretty good value
For self catering, and for the price; Very Impressive Maid's were really nice, came infrequently, but friendly. Staff we're helpful and approachable. Great location, a bit of a walk but most of us need it! All in all, good value for money (the beds were hard as rocks though)

the good gone bad
john walker, nottingham
january 08, just returned from the guanabara apts and must say enjoyed our time in puerto rico. the apts are basic, cleners come when they want, we went 3 days without a towel change so had to tell the reception, was delt with quickly. pool was good and clean, entertainment ok. climb up the hill back to the apts so hard work . we walked up from the beech every day and had taxis at night after our drinking session, night life is fantastic, but the touts will drive people away, someone must do something because its the worse i have seen anywhere . went to morgan it was good. i find after visiting Gran Canaria 4 times in 7 years it is starting to get more expensive. think i would do it one more time but not for a while fancy doing fueruventura in september.

Review of 'GUANABARA PARK'
Susan Sayle, Isle of Man
We arrived March 07 the apartments were very nice ours was right outside the 'supermarket' rarely open the pool and pool area was lovely and myself, daughter and grandchildren spent a lot of time there. The maid service was non existant if we hadn't put the sheets outside we wouldn't have got clean ones, maybe we were unluckly as they didn't seem to come into the room at all except to empty the rubbish.

Saying that we had a lovely time and would consider going back providing we had a room with not to many steps. We used taxis all the time so cheap reception would ring one for you any time. We ate in the restaurant and found it reasonable value for money, the waiter even suggested just getting one meal for the children and sharing it.

All in all we enjoyed ourselves and the views from the rooms were superb.

Review of 'GUANABARA PARK'
Brian Ditchfield, Preston England
Weather seven perfect english summer days in february tantastic, views fantastic, very clean rooms and well maintained, there is a nice pool with great views, these are the good points. Beds uncomfortable Staff pleasant but not over friendly, on site supermarket shockingly over priced and under stocked. The words super and market dont apply. There is no oxygen mask in the rooms which would be a bonus after the walk up the hill to this magnificient location. Peurto rico is over run with time share touts, there should be laws against them they spoil the stroll down the prom. There is agood selection of bars and returants withina 5 minute down hill stroll, the Torre Bravo has food for all the family, even our Kids liked it (say no more)and the staff are real entertainers. There are some great beaches within easy walking distance and the sea is quite mild. Port Mogan or little venice is well worth a visit by ferry. overall we enjoyed our stay so much in this location we would definitely stay again next february lovely time of year

We stayed at this resort in July 2006 we have been to other resorts and our family all agree it was our best holiday ever. The rooms are immaculate with great service. The welcoming gift of water and basic utensils was brillant especially if you arrive late at night. The staff are very helpful and Russ (the mad spurs fan) and his beautiful other half are excellent, he tells you were it is safe for the teens so they can have fun and the mums and dads can relax. The entertainment they both put on cannot be missed, go to Guanabara Park and have a fantastic holiday.

Richard Harrisson, Staplehurst/UK
Arrived at Guanabara Park in the afternoon heat after a pleasant drive from the airport, the checkin girl was very nice and pleasant, we got the keys and she pointed us in the direction of our room, down 75 steps in all to C block but after finding our room we were pleasantly pleased with the perfect view over looking the harbour, a bottle of water was waiting for us.
Rooms are basic and could do with a touch of paint, you pay extra for the remote for TV and a safe if needed but we did'nt, you can also hire many other items, a fan would have been very nice as there is no aircon; a fridge, kettle, toaster, small soap, t-rolls, washing-up liquid & cloth was supplied, bed was quite comfy with just a sheet & cover but we laid on top as it was so hot at nights.
We did not use the resturant or bar, but the pool area was excellent, it is a very quiet area and we were glad we hired a car for the week as the walk up & down to the centre would have done us in, not a good place if you are unfit and don't like hills or steps but all in all for the price we paid we were very pleased.
