An excellent hotel, very clean, quiet and relaxed.
Jeffrey Gallon, Cramlington
we have just returned from Macarella after staying for one week (may 2012 ) with our teenage son. we had a 2 bedroom apartment which was excellent. Very roomy with all amenities anyone could want on holiday. We stayed bed and breakfast and found that the food selection was good just as you would expect to find in a spanish 4 star hotel. we did not have an evening meal at the hotel as we went out every night and used the many and varied restaurants that surround the calan bosch harbour which is only a 5 minute stroll away. .... Pool area at the hotel is excellent and the poolside snack bar was fairly priced although the service was a little slow at times. but hey...we were on holiday ! My only other gripe would be that there was quite a busy road running alogside the hotel boundary and traffic noise was sometimes apparent when lying at the poolside. But not too intrusive. All in all Macarella was an excellent hotel in a good location and we would not hesitate to return.
The best thing about my stay was...calan bosch is a excellent compact resort with plenty restaurants and bars.

Excellent service from every member of staff encountered.Suite extra large with everything anyone would need for self catering even though we had half board it was good to be able to make a drink and snack at lunchtime.Very clean everywhere inside and outside the hotel. The choice of food was very good and to a very high standard.Overall i could not find any faults with this accommodation
The best thing about my stay was...The service of all the staff was exceptional

great standard rooms, not great facilities though
Clare Occomore, UK
Im not sure whether it was because it was mid September but there were not a range of facilities at this hotel. The negatives: The food standard was not great so i wouldnt advise half board packages, you will soon get fed up. (we paid 35 Euro for 2 adults one child for breakfast and the standard was poor for a 4 star hotel) The kids club was a girl sitting at a table by the pool doing a bit of drawing with any kids and parents that sat down, If you are relying on that service, chose a different hotel. Reception staff were indifferent, we arrived 11pm with 3yr old and 5 month old and had to get ourselves and luggage to a room at the furthest point on the complex without any help or apology. The pool was not really cleaned out well, lots of debris floating, particularly the small pool. The maid was very sweet and the room was clean apart from the floor which was not well hoovered/swept. The Positives: The rooms are great, decent size, well equipped, we asked for a pool view when we booked and got one, cannot fault the room. The layout of the complex is great apart from 8-10 stairs near the reception which can be problematic with buggie/wheelchairs. It is 2 minutes walk to the restaurants around the marina where you can get an array of food, breakfast, lunch and dinner (we had a great meal at Torro Negro)the supermarket is here too. It is 5 miute walk to the beach , it is a small cove with lovely sandy beach. In summary if you want a great room and pool but are happy to take responsibility for everything else like we did then you will love it. If you are relying on facilities like restaurant and kids club then forget it! We think it didnt come up to the standard of a 4* in that respect, as i said before i dont know if it might be better at peak season but if the hotel are advertising the service it shouldnt matter. Definitely a great area for young families to holiday, we had a great time!

Very nice hotel. The waitresses were very friendly. Mini disco was great. the lady who ran it named monica was a lovely lady with children. Our big party of children enjoyed pushing her in the pool. Food was ok could of had a few more choices at dinner. I would recommend this hotel to parents with children. Sian Raynor Aged 13

Wondeful - We want to book in September
K Ducros, Chelmsford
We've just arrived back from 2 weeks in Cala n Bosch at the Grupotel Macarella and we had a fantastic time. The apartment was lovely, not your usual basic rooms but added comfort in a style that felt you were spoiling ourself a little. Staff were very helpful in dealing with any queries we had and even rustled up a surprise birthday cake for my husband which wasn't unusual as others were also receiving this little touch on their birthdays. Mini disco was fun for the kids (Our daughter is 19months) Yet she did enjoy dancing in the harbour to the muscians more... she's obviously taken a liking to country and western rather than euro pop! Cala n' Bosch is great for families with all children as there are a lot of activites to do in and around the area, from waterparks, train rides, glass bottom boats, bike rides and all the restaurants cater for the young diner. It's a fantastic place that cater's for your every need that you don't really need to venture anywhere. We did visit the old Capital on the bus (no.65) to Cuitedella which was what I would describe as your true Spanish cityand felt like you were getting a little culture too. Well worth the E1.70, 10min bus ride. A definite must for any family to visit.

Hotel very nice, extremely clean, however while we were there it rained for a whole week, this hotel has an indoor swimming pool connected with the spa and we were wanted to take our 3 year old and 6 month old swimming as the weather was so bad outside, however the hotel said we could not use it, even though we were not disturbing anyone. Also we were staying on the top floor and the lifts broke on the first day we were there and were not fixed by the time we left a week later, so we had to carry the buggy up 4 flights of stairs everyday. The apartment itself was marvellous, facilities brilliant if you have young children. The hotel staff didnt really have a clue what was going on! Everytime we asked for some information they said we would have to come back later when they had found out. They could also do with some funding for activitives for the children in the day time amid bad weather
