Golden Lion

The hotel was very nice , and the staff very helpful and attentive ,the room was small but all you need for a 2 night stay, would use this hotel again and would recommend it to family and friends.

The best thing about my stay was...

We enjoyed the whole atmosphere of Stirling and the historic sites

Good place to stay

Clean friendly and in the centre of town what more could you want. Only a short walk from Stirling train station makes it really handy too

The best thing about my stay was...

Friendly staff

Awful

Main areas nice. However rooms in desperate need of makeover. Why stay in room conditions you wouldnt live in at home?. And pay for the displeasure! Only happy reviews seem to be for weddings or so it seems?! Something odd about the pattern of reviews! ! Look at the review photos people.

The best thing about my stay was...

Good position - bad hotel

Great Location, very enjoyable stay

The location of this hotel is fantastic, less than 5 mins walk from the train/bus station with the town centre right on your doorstep and the castle only a 10 min walk. We didnt use the car park but we had a look and it would have been easy to find. The room, which was on the first floor, looked recently refurbished and was nice and clean. It had a nice decor, large wardrobe, nice compact clean bathroom, with a great shower, good heating, nice wall mounted tv and a good hospitality tray. The maid service was fantastic, all the staff in the hotel were very friendly. The breakfast was immense, such a good variety of continental items and a great buffet of hot food. Tea/coffee and toast was swiftly served to us as soon as we sat down. Some areas of the hotel were a bit old fashioned and worn but all areas were very clean and the old and new merged well. The free wifi in the reception area was good but it would be better if it worked in the bar area next door. A small error upon checkout, i had a bill for my room stay despite paying in advance, but this was swiftly sorted. All in all a great stay and I would certainly stay there again

The best thing about my stay was...

Location, staff, comfort

very poor . DO NOT STAY HERE

Very poor service . Our first room had a broken table , holes in the bed linen , a terrible view onto a rusty stair case fire exit . Our room we were moved to was damp and smelly then after the assistant manager agreeing that the room was out of order due to damp , he then found us another room (OUR FIRST ONE!!) Twice we were moved then we were assured if we stayed we would have a discount of £30 pp. We decided to make do but on check out we were then told NO REFUND GUYS ITS NOT HAPPENING. The three people who claimed to be managers just spent all weekend lieing to us and telling us what we wanted to hear . As i booked online and payed before arrival there was nothing i could do , we just had to accept and leave .

The best thing about my stay was...

going home

nice but hotel is a nit tired

when we checked into the hotel it was clear that it could do with a bit of updating as reception and walking upto the room was a bit tired needing and needing some care, o arrival i the rom it was clear it had been recently refurbished to a high standard with good attention to detail , the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel could not be in a better location we eally enjoyed our weekend

The best thing about my stay was...

the room and breakfast

hotel not corrected

hotel not corrected: when I have arrived they have said that they did not have place. Only after my protests, they have tried a reservation alternative. And, after half hour, they have reserved to the Stirling Managment Centre, far away approximately 10 kilometers from the city center. It is not serious to deal the customers in this way.

Jo

Excellent hotel right in the town centre close to all the pubs/restaurants. It was tricky to find the car park but handy once we found it. Room was fully refurbished and bar was open all night to residents.

This hotel was currently being refurbished, and it needed it. We were placed initially in one of the non-refurbished rooms which was rather dated and didn't even merit a 3 star. We complained straight away and were upgraded to a newly refurbished room which was very nice, why we were not given this room in the first place, I don't really know. Plus point the hotel is in a great location and very central.

Excellent

My husband, children and I had a wedding to attend in Stirling. We found that even before we arrived at the hotel the staff were extremely helpful as we needed to book in early. The room we ordered was a family room and it was massive, with two double beds an ensuite and a sitting area. As we had a baby they even supplied a cot and all bedding which we wernt expecting! The staff were extremely helpful and didnt mind that the bride came and got ready in our room. Only draw back for me was the room was slightly too warm but that was nothing that could be changed! Breakfast was wonderful and the staff again were extremely helpful, plenty of choice. Really cannot complain about our stay
