wonderful relaxation

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble & there was always someone on hand to help. Fabulous food whether half board or a la carte although the soup could have been hotter. Very reasonably priced for the quality. Balcony was a bit of a let down & wasn't cleaned of bird droppings. Room key was a very strange shape barrel & extremely awkward to fit in the lock

The best thing about my stay was...

Very comfortable sunbeds around the pool & efficient waiter service
2/10 Okay

Hotel very disappointing but Palace beauitiful!

We were upgraded from the Hotel to the Palace on arrival and thank god we were. The whole place is practically a building site. Why are they taking booking while this is going on?? A few people that were still in the hotel said it is really run down & food is dreadful. The Palace however is fab, unfortunately they are also laying new flooring in the reception/lift area so there was a fair bit of noise & inconvenience. We only came across 2 miserable staff during the week, the receptionist that booked us in & the lady in the dining room. We could not fault the rest.

The best thing about my stay was...

Set in beautiful surroundings. If offered an ungrade to a suite in the Palace, grab it!

Misleading and dated!

Be warned that when you book the pictures shown are for ee Saadi palace which only has suites and villas. the hotel rooms arevery miThe rooms in the hotel are very dated. Breakfast is about 6/10. Staff are generally responsive and attentive but the rooms are very poor, not 5 star definitely, I wouldn't even say 4 star. They don't give you an iron on request, you have to pay for the laundry service or use dry cleaners outside ofthe hotel

The best thing about my stay was...

The location is good within 10 minutes of main attractions

Beautiful hotel but far too expensive.

The Es Saadi Palace is indeed a very beautiful hotel with well kept, spacious grounds, massive swimming pool and a swim up bar. We had an executive suite which was enormous, the photos on website don't do justice to the rooms, complete with a four poster bed! There were some nice touches in the suite such as complimentary black soap and scrub mitts for a do it yourself hammam, bottled water every evening, plenty of toiletries, pastries and a fruit bowl on arrival. The rest of the hotel is equally as impressive décor wise. Reception staff were polite and courteous although not over friendly, concierge always seemed helpful, door man and bell boys always friendly and helpful. There was a daily presence of management who always checked to see if all was ok. The pool boys got better as the week went on, but this may have been down to my husband tipping them every day. On first impressions there never looked to be any available bed's when we arrived at the pool as there is a large amount of towel laying early in the morning and then said beds staying empty for rest of the day. The pool boys did always manage to find us beds and were happy to move them to where ever you wanted to sit, they also seemed to remove the 'reserving towels' if somebody needed a bed. One of my main gripes with the pool area was that there was no waiter service for drinks. There were a lot of pool boys and I think it would've been a great help if they had run a waiter service at least part of the day, the area is big and each time we wanted something from the bar it meant having to walk to the pool bar and order, then the waiter had to wander around looking for you to delivery the order. As this is a 5* hotel it was lacking in some of the services we have found at many other 5* hotels, ie sunglass cleaning, fruit on skewers, cold towels etc. In the evenings the residents appear to vanish, a fairly full pool area of guests and then from early evening you see no one at all! This might be down the the fact that the hotel restaurants are so horrifically overpriced, as is alcohol. I understand that the Morrocan people tend not to drink but this is an international hotel catering to guests who do partake and I certainly do not expect to pay more than I would in a top London hotel for a drink. The main reason we will not return to Marrakech is due to the lack of establishments that actually serve alcohol and the fact that the larger hotels who do, charge so much. A glass of Morrocan wine was 90d, which equates to £6.60, the only other wine available was French and they pushed the prices up even more for that. A small and I mean small, bottle of beer 60d, or £4.40. A shot of spirit, using a mechanical device, so no free hand measures here, 110d, £8.35. A bottle of coke £2.90, glass of fresh lemonade £3.70. Now we are not out to get drunk each and every waking moment but we are from a drinking nation and both myself and my husband want to enjoy a drink on holiday without feeling sourly as if we are being ripped off. I have to say the prices in the few restaurants near the square that we visited were much more reasonable, but of course you do then have to make the effort to get to them. I am only grateful the hotel was within walking distance so that we could eat/drink outside of the hotel as we would have been stuck if it was in the middle of nowhere as I believe some are. My next gripe is about the spa services, again I would have liked some treatments, maybe a massage or facial or a hair treatment, that is until I saw the prices. Upwards of £100 for a treatment, you have got to be kidding! Please hotel management research the prices from other counties and you will see why your treatment rooms were empty. Again it is not about being tight or a scrooge but it is the principle of the matter, why pay these ridiculous prices when you know that at home your regular salon will charge half for the same treatment, I just don't get the managements thinking. Breakfast was adequate and no more. There was a very limited choice of hot foods, although there was a good egg station. There were cold meats but if you didn't arrive just as they were put out then you were stuck with dried up bits which looked fit for the bin. Pickles and condiments were served in little bowls which again meant lots of unappetising bits that we preferred not to eat. There was always a good section of cakes and pastries. No pots of yogurt, only natural yogurt in uncovered dishes. Lots of flies around the uncovered food, again not really 5* and if the germs from the flies didn't get you then there were the little fingers from the other guests children to contend with. I saw one small child dip his fingers in a full jug of milk, two girls shoving their hands into the fresh pineapple bowl and scooping the fruit onto their plates, another small boy poke his finger into a chocolate cake and these were just the ones I did see. Unfortunately most of the food was on lowish tables, easily accessible to children. There really needs to be a policy of no unaccompanied children in the breakfast room but then I suppose the management don't want to upset the parents who are happy for their kids to roam unchecked. All in all we enjoyed a hot and sunny break in Marrakech but would not return for the very reasons above, personally I would say a long weekend would suffice if you haven't visited before.

The best thing about my stay was...

The amazingly large room.
