REALLY GOOD FAMILY HOTEL
Really nice hotel on the beach, 10min stroll to resort centre. Staff very friendly, animation team great and very hard-working- good activities especially in pool in the afternoon. Choice in buffet pretty good with allergy advice clearly labelled (I am coeliac so very useful). Booked a sea view suite which was great having the extra space with a young child. Hotel needs a re-furb which is why 8 out of 10, but still very nice and would stay again.
The best thing about my stay was...LOCATION AND FRIENDLINESS OF STAFF

Very relaxing and friendly hotel

Apart from our balcony not getting sun, can't find any negatives to say. It's the only hotel we've had the whole week dining in a buffet restaurant. As all buffet food somethings could have been hotter, but the variety made up for that. Evening entertainment was better than average and we managed to dance several times.
The best thing about my stay was...It was just an all round relaxing holiday.

Needs some TLC
An average 4 star hotel, food ok, but had better in some 3* properties. From a basic hygiene point of view the chefs use the same tongs for handling raw meat as they do for cooked!!!! This is an easy way to create tummy troubles. Staff all very friendly and work hard, but in general the maintenance of the hotel in some areas needs looking at. For example our shower rail was broken for the entire length of our stay, i.e you had to hand hold whilst showering. No big deal, but apparently no spares available!!! Not good enough. Also some broken tiles around the pool area.
The best thing about my stay was...Close to the beach

Good, but could have been better!
Just back from a 10 night stay this hotel, which was recommended by friends who stayed here 2 years ago. Not at all disappointed, but a few things let it down a bit. Pros: nice and close (10 mins) to the airport, very clean hotel, rooms very big, and although not very updated, lots of space and probably the most comfortable beds I've slept in on holiday. All rooms have a sea view of some sort, and ours in the third floor was lovely. Pool area was great, very chilled out feel about it, loads of sunbeds which are locked up until 8.30am which is a much more respectable time to get up (although there were still some people going down much earlier to get a particular spot - seriously, what is wrong with you people?!) - we went to the market (about a 15 min walk away on a Tuesday and Saturday) one morning and didn't get back till around 12.30pm and managed to get sunbeds and a parasol on our return. Felt able to give our girls (9&6) a fair bit of freedom around the pools, great games put on in the pools by the entertainment team (wobbly mat, inflatable slide, foam party) everyday, plus 2 life guards on duty. Food was mostly good, but not the best I've had - plenty to choose from though. Beach just across the road, with a few mins walk to a nice sandy coved part with lovely clear water. Entertainment was fine - downstairs in the Broadway Bar for kids/families, and upstairs in the lobby bar more for adults (singers). Cons: possibly not enough staff - generally only 1 person serving at the bar, even at peak times, a bit slow in replacing food/cutlery etc, quite a few flies around, which I know is difficult to control, but I felt more could/should be done to cover the food that sits out for a while (some was covered, some wasn't). Other things to note: small shopping centre a 5 min walk away, harbour with many shops and restaurants a little further, but only 3 euros in a taxi. I wouldn't return, but only because I like to try different places, but was definitely a great family holiday. Oh, and hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
The best thing about my stay was...Apart from the weather, the lovely pool area and the fact my children felt safe

Better for families than couples
Just arrived home last night after a week's holiday at this hotel. First impressions were very good, check in was quick and efficient, and it was nice to receive welcome drink. I had emailed the hotel a few weeks prior to our holiday, to tell them this was a celebration of a special birthday for my husband, and to ask if we could have a room on a higher floor with a good sea view. A week prior to our arrival, I had received an email from the hotel asking the date of my husband's birthday, so I'd felt quite hopeful about room allocation. When we went up to our room on the fourth floor, I was extremely disappointed to find that our view was primarily straight into a tree, but also with a view of the wall of the shopping centre next door, and the road between it and the hotel. The sea could just about be spotted in the distance through the branches of the tree. I went back down to reception to ask if we could have a move to another room. The receptionist said that, as the hotel was full that night, this would not be possible. I asked if she could find out whether there might be a room with a sea view available on the following night. She went to discuss with another member of staff, Daniel. He told me that, although there were no regular rooms with a full sea view available, he could offer me a junior suite (with sea view) on fifth floor for an extra cost of 30 euros per night. I felt that an extra 200+ euros was quite a lot extra to pay for the week (particularly having read so many Trip Advisor reviews from people who had been given free upgrades to junior suites because they had a special birthday) when I was only requesting a room with the sea view I had been told was available to most rooms in this hotel. Daniel quickly reduced the cost of the junior suite to 150 euros for the week, and I agreed - was actually highly relieved to escape from our originally allocated room Whilst the new room was lovely - separate living room, huge and comfortable bed, separate washroom, sun beds on balcony - it still left a slightly sour taste. I had a suspicion that, having been made aware that this was a special holiday, the hotel had knowingly allocated us a room which would leave us with no alternative but to pay significantly extra in order to have the sea view which is apparently the norm for most hotel guests. Pros: The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the grounds are lovely, and all very well-maintained by hard-working and friendly staff. The sea views from the hotel are beautiful, and there are lovely beaches a few minutes away. Food is generally of a high quality, and there is a good variety and choice. We particularly enjoyed breakfast, with availability of freshly-made smoothies, omelettes, and excellent variety of fruits, and usual cooked breakfast - bacon, eggs, sausages etc. Many have complained on Trip Advisor about tough, dry and not very hot cooked meat. Some of it did indeed look unappealingly dried-up as it was sitting there. However, I tried steak one night, and pork another, and it was ok (although not great). We much preferred the variety of salads, fruit and vegetables, but also enjoyed pizza, pasta, soups, pate, crusty bread etc. As a couple who weren't holidaying with children, we didn't feel any desire to join in the family-friendly entertainment downstairs. But we liked the lobby bar upstairs. Lots of comfortable seating, friendly atmosphere, and good service from bar staff. Wine and beer with meals perfectly acceptable, and we enjoyed various liqueurs and spirits. The singers appearing in this bar for a few evenings during the week were generally fine - reasonably good entertainment. Cons: As others have commented, the very large hotel dining area was somewhat reminiscent of a school canteen. Tables were close together, and there was a very high level of noise as chairs were pulled/scraped in and out on the tiled floors. Staff were friendly and helpful, and worked really hard to keep tables clear and to reset them quickly. However, although most families were very considerate, there were others who allowed their children to run round and round their tables, to the extent that I felt sorry for staff trying to clear in that area. One day we saw a child using her scooter around the dining room, and yesterday we saw two boys playing with their football between tables whilst their parents ate nearby. Whilst all of this might be tolerable to some during breakfast and lunch (and I fully accept that it was ill-advised for us to take a holiday in this hotel during school Easter holidays), I would really have liked a more peaceful and relaxing dining experience for dinner each evening. I enjoyed the hotel fitness facility, and used it every day. Reasonable equipment, and nice and spacious room. However, since outer doors to gym were left open during the day, I twice went in to find it over-run by groups of small boys. Children of between 6 and 9 years were playing with cross-trainers and heavy weights with no adult supervision at all - surely a health and safety concern, and not great for unrelated adults also using the facility. Although we had a relaxing and fairly restorative holiday in this pleasant hotel, the main issue which made it much less enjoyable for us (and obviously no fault of hotel) was poor weather. Throughout our week's stay, we had only one consistently sunny and warm day, and found that the other six days were largely grey and cloudy and very windy - first seaside holiday in my entire life where I wouldn't even have considered donning a swimming costume, normally I can't wait to get into pool and sea. For families I think this might be a good holiday destination even in less than ideal weather, as there are lots of activities for children. Presumably this would also apply to holiday-makers who have gone to Fuerteventura for golf. But the promenade along to main resort was not as beautiful as I had hoped, with only a few cafes & tourist shops (and of course the shopping centre) on one side. Of course the beach and sea looked lovely when the sun was shining, but more often than not we were walking into a gusting headwind, under thick grey, low-lying cloud. I also thought there was not that much actually to recommend Caleta de Fuste itself as a desirable or scenic holiday destination. My impression of it was of a generally tacky tourist resort in an otherwise barren and windswept landscape.
The best thing about my stay was...Helpful staff, sea view, good food

Elba Sara has a good location with easy access to local amenities. It has easy access for anyone with movement issues as everything is pretty flat.
