The setting is lovely when you actually stumble across it. I would suggest some signage outside that is slightly more prominent. The room was in the attic, although clean it was nothing like the pictures on the website so quite disappointing. Dont expect much from the breakfasts, it was the same every day, adequate but a suggestion would be to vary it from day to day!
The best thing about my stay was...Coming home, Rome is noisy, dirty and far too expensive

It's impossible to describe this hotel in words ... a truly unique and fantastic place to stay, which adds to the Rome experience! An ancient converted monastery! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was a little basic - typical European breakfast consisting of juice, croissants, rolls, cheese, ham, salami cereal etc. Rooms are basic, but clean and cheerful which I think is fair given the overall price. Make sure you work out exactly where it is before you leave, as it is not the easiest place to locate! Situated about 5-10 mins from the San Giovanni Metro station giving easy access to the major attractions (Metro tickets are 11 Euros for 3 days and I would definitely recommend doing this. However brace yourselves, as it can be busy at peak times - especially around at the Termini stop!). Well worth going just for the Colosseum - this was amazing and an unforgettable experience. I recommend the Terravision coach service for getting from the Ciampino airport to the Termini station which was 4 Euros one way.
The best thing about my stay was...How unique this place is!

Read the other reviews and decided to give it a go. Can't fault this hotel, spacious, clean rooms, with free air conditioning and safe - unheard of these days! Room cleaned and restocked daily and we were able to leave our cases there all day on the day of departure for free. Friendly staff and nice roof terrace. Good local newsagent in Porta Maggiore where you could buy the multi bus/metro/tram ticket and bus/tram stops were right outside. Metro was round the corner at San Giovanni. Colosseum was a 15 min walk away and the Termini 20. Lots of choice of restaurants nearby. Used the bus shuttle from Ciampino to the Termini, 4 euro's single, 6 euro's return. Definately would return.

Want a hotel with a difference?
It was a nice hotel with friendly staff. The hotel is only a 15-20 minute walk from the colosseum and local resturants. The breakfast buffet was enjoyable. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The only two problems we had was our room was facing the main road. It kept us up on the first day few days as we are a light sleeper and the traffic never seem to quieten down. Although after a couple of days of sight seeing we managed to sleep through the traffic noise! The other problem we had was our bathroom was also a little smelly. They weren't major problems and had we asked I am sure the hotel people would have changed our rooms (we went during off peak season).

This hotel was such good value for money! When I looked in my guidebook, the church attached to the hotel was a reccommended place of interest! The place is really beautiful, our room was spotless and overlooked the gardens. The reception staff were very friendly too. The hotel is about half a kilometre from the metro station San Giovanni, and so very handy from Termini station if, like us, you wanted to use the terravision service from Ciampino airport. I would definitely go back and will be telling my friends about it.
