We arrived into Rome FCO and took a taxi to the hotel which costs approx 35-45 euros. The hotel was very clean and we were greeted by a very friendly lady on the front desk. Upon checking our ID (passports) the lady wished my partner a happy birthday which was very thoughtful. Check in was swift, personable and informative. We signed up for the hotel rewards card and received complimentary internet and late check out (2pm instead of 12). Our room was clean and fresh. Plenty of wardrobe space, king size bed, good quality linen and balcony. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but adequate and most importantly clean! The facilities in the hotel were excellent, a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool, spa and gym. The breakfast was always welcoming and the staff friendly and personable. The food was fresh and tasted good. I would like more of a selection of hot food, such as an omelette. We ate at the poolside bar and the food was great and the service impeccable. We were the only customers eating and the lady was so attentive, taking time to ask how our holiday was going and wishing us an enjoyable stay. There aren't any negatives I can comment on from this visit. We did visit the restaurant outside the hotel to the right which wasn't a great experience. Very busy, poor customer service. Food was nothing special. The hotel isn't far from the centre of the city. A taxi cost 13-15 euros which we didn't mind paying. There are cheaper alternative ways to get into the city ie. shuttle bus, public transport which were all offered to us by the front desk.
The best thing about my stay was...The staff remembered our names every time we went to the front desk. The spa is amazing!

On arrival at reception whilst checking in , my husband was reminded that he had a birthday soon! The hotel gave us an upgrade to a room facing pool and king size bed. The room is very spacious , had a desk nice comfy chair a large TV and a very comfy bed. When we went to breakfast the manager ( Veronica ) wished my husband a happy birthday, arrange a birthday cake with candle and gave us some sparkling bubbly to start our day. Veronica was very attentive, she was always calm even under pressure , she is a great asset to Crowne Plaza. We also had a bottle of prosecco when we returned to our room in the evening. The reception staff were very pleasant and great to get information from. Although hotel may seem a bit away from the attractions you can get hitel b Hustle bus for 1.50 euro at specific times or local bus for 1.50 euro and it covers you for metro as well which gets you to all the sites. The pool at hotel was kept clean as did the whole hotel. I couldn't fault the crowne hotel. The hotel also offer a shuttle bus to airport for 14 euro which was a great service to airport. We had mini bus to ourselves!
The best thing about my stay was...The staff were excellent all round and pool to relax in after a day of site seeing.

nice to escape the bustle of rome

A very nice hotel away from the hustle and bustle of rome, but near enough for a taxi not to cost the earth.Staff were all very pleasent and professional. they were extremely helpful.

Weekend away with my husband
Room was big, two double beds, clean. Breakfast was superb. Loads of choice could eat as much as you wanted. Was a return visit as it was good the last time. The whole standard of the hotel and general ambience remained lovely. However staff on the desk when on the mobile left the guest as a spare part rather than a valued customer.
The best thing about my stay was...Breakfast and the location of the hotel on a bus route to St Peters

Not long enough in Rome
Deborah Brown, Nottingham
Because we chose to visit Rome in August we looked for a hotel with a pool. So glad we did. Enjoyed our stay. Pool lovely, food nice and staff helpful. The location could be an issue but we found the shuttle bus very useful. As the shuttle bus only ran several times a day we found public transport useful. The bus number 881 took you to the vatican. To get to the colosseum get a 881 and change at the terminus on to a bus for piazza Venezia. If the hotel were to have some timetables for the buses that would be useful. Just a note...Over 65's from the EU do not pay for the colosseum so take some id.
The best thing about my stay was...The pool

four days in Rome
Frank Coton, Dumbarton
This is an OK hotel for a short break in Rome. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a fairly basic buffet but OK. In terms of overall standard, I would rate this hotel as a medium quality tourist hotel. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel so, if you have a three day tourist pass for the bus and Metro, you can get around very easily. Now for the not so good aspects of the hotel. There is not much around the hotel. There is only one, quite good, restaurant within easy walking distance. The reception desk can be chaotic. It is divided into Cashier, Concierge and Reception and it is not always clear which part of the desk to approach to do what. If you get it wrong, you are sent to another part of the desk. The worst part of the hotel is the service at the pool bar. We clocked up one hour, twenty minutes for a drink and an insalata caprese. Most of the time was the waiting for the salad to arrive. At one point, after waiting 30 mins, my wife reminded the waitress that we were waiting for the salad. The waitress said "I know" and shrugged her shoulders. I guess this was a somewhat less helpful response than we expected. The pool is extremely crowded. Getting a lounger can be near on impossible, especially on afternoons when a cruise party comes in. The hotel seems to have a regular stream of groups coming and going to cruise ships. If, like we were, you are looking for a clean, comfortable, relatively inexpensive hotel for a short break in Rome, then this is a pretty good choice. If you want something more, this is probably not for you.
The best thing about my stay was...comfortable bed

Nice hotel, out of the way and quiet when needed
Daniel Walsh, Coventry
Would definitely recommend, very nice hotel. Only down side was it was out of the way. Bus fare only a euro each way but getting back at night taxis are quite expensive.
The best thing about my stay was...The bed.

lovely hotel, quiet but near Rome
Jan & Todd, Shropshire
We stayed for our first trip to Rome. Rooms were large and the bed was huge and comfy. Excellent breakfast. Complimentary bus service to capital was really good and regular. Staff all speak excellent English and are very helpful. Nice and quiet to sleep but lots of different nationalities to speak to around the bar etc. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The best thing about my stay was...Comfy 6'6''x6'6'' bed and breakfast set us up until teatime.

Ok hotel but bad location
Yvonne K, Ireland
We stayed in Crowne Plaza beginning of August. Arrived in train station, €40 to hotel in a taxi which wasn't a great start. Nobody seemed to know about a bus out there. The hotel is not in a good location, it's well out from the city centre. That said, they do run shuttles into centre at various times in the morning and evening but none during day and no shuttle back to the hotel after 9.15pm. This is quite annoying because you must then get public transport which runs only until 12 because a taxi would cost €15 back to hotel because of it's outside location (estimation given to us by hotel). Hotel itself is nice. The rooms are very nice, spacious and clean. They are cleaned every day with top ups of shampoo etc. Air conditioning in room keeps it cool but can be very loud! Nice bar downstairs but overpriced but that's the same everywhere. Pool area is very nice with a lovely pool side bar. However on two occasions there seemed to be a yellow substance in the pool as if somebody had gotten sick in the pool and it was cleaned by lifeguards, in fact they were often off wandering somewhere and nobody was guarding their table/supervising the pool. Only other suggestion I would give to hotel is to invest in a few more elevators, it takes forever for one to come up to the various floors, and it's not that I'm being lazy! You're not supposed to use stairs unless in case of emergency!
The best thing about my stay was...Spacious, clean room

Lovely well run Hotel
J beams, Portsmouth
We stayed here for four nights at the end of September before travelling onto Sorrento. This Hotel is excellent in every way, nothing is too much trouble and the breakfast was excellent. The courtesy bus provided by the Hotel was always punctual and takes you either to St. Peters or into the centre. There is a bus stop outside the hotel which was needed as our only critisism was that it is quite a way from the centre of Rome.
The best thing about my stay was...Definitely the breakfast!

5 Night Trip to Rome
alan morris, nottingham
Seamless booking with Alpharooms - the hotel was excellent and at a very good rate for a Crowne Plaza. Rooms clean and comfortable. Bathroom with bath, shower and bidet - fully tiled marble. Public areas very good - nice bar and restaurant. Our booking included breakfast saving 36Euros per couple per night. Bar good with live music but drinks expensive. Best of all, we also booked airport transfers to and from the hotel - not only did they save against local rate but the drivers turned up on time!!!!!
The best thing about my stay was...We knew we had booked quality accommodation but all the paperwork was spot on and everything went completely to plan!

It's a Crowne Plaza...
Sarah Williams, Chester
The hotel was pretty much what we expected and have no real complaints. The pool area was nice and great to come back to after a busy day sightseeing. Our room was spacious with air con, a balcony overlooking the gardens with the usual mini bar, coffee tea, iron and board etc.. The bar was good and the bar staff really attentive (remembered our drinks and room no. etc). The hotel had a free shuttle bus that ran into the city every hour, my only complaint about this was the last one was at 9.30pm so we had to pay for a taxi back every evening which was approx 15-20 euro from the Vatican. I have to admit without the shuttle bus we would have been pretty stuck as the hotel was quite a way from the nearest metrol, however we booked the hotel knowing they did a free shuttle so had no issues. The reception staff were really helpful and spoke excellent english. I emailed prior to arriving asking for directions to the hotel from the city and they sent me a map, shuttle bus timetable and also directions for the Metro, Buses and also the cost of a taxi from Ciampino. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening, the food was nice however menu limited. Overall a good hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who would like the best of both worlds (do the city sights but also relax by the pool).
The best thing about my stay was...Staff - Very helpful before and during stay

A little too far from Rome
C O'Gorman, COrk
We really like this hotel it was very pleasant and the staff were very helpful they even gave us an early check in and a late check out. This time of year in rome (early sept) was extremley hot and the pool at this hotel was a real treat. We just found that the hotel was just a bit too far from the city centre yes the hotel do put on a shuttle bus in the evenings up until 9pm but if you miss it you have to wait another hour for the next one so we found we were jumping into cabs to get to places quicker it was adding an extra €30 a day onto our stay that would be my only gripe!!
The best thing about my stay was...The pool and very helpful and friendly staff

Excellent 4 day stay
We chose this hotel to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and were not disapointed. The hotel provided a free bottle champagne and provided flowers we requested - Grazie Alesia on the front desk -always a welcoming smile!. The rooms are spacious and clean with everything you could need for your stay. The shuttle bus to the vatican is very good - but no return trips in the afternoon ?, however the bus service to/from Cornelia metro station is good and stops right next to the hotel. The breakfast buffet is excellent and is served in the luxury restaurant. Very few disappointments ,among them I would mention that the evening meals could do with some re-thinking and quality could be improved. Overall a good impression- we would return.
The best thing about my stay was...All the staff at the Crowne Plaza St Peters - all were wonderfull
