Not bad

first night of our stay(me and wife) they tell us there's no room for us cause of a leak and they send us to a terrible room in another hotel . we ask to see the manager who never got back to us - he was always away despite everyday messages. thats a terrible first impression .the room was very small but clean , and the showers are very hard to be enjoyed cause of the way the water comes out from the shower... the breakfast was good. the location though is great cause its a quiet area and very close to an underground station .. there s this guy at the reception RUBEN - he is terrible and rude , but they are some great guys working there like Stan , Alex from brazil and Marcella.

The best thing about my stay was...

Great location and lovely hotel...very tiny rooms!

I only live 30 miles south of London so have never needed to stay before, however my partner turned the grand old age of 21 last week so I surprised her with a 2 night stay in a '4*' hotel for £279 b&b. For me this seemed VERY pricey but I work in travel and do understand that cities, especially London, will cost you alot more. Only 3 real downsides to mention. Firstly, you can barely move in the room and I o mean that literally. However, I believe this is the case with alot of London hotels and to be fair, you don't come to London to stay in a room all day...(unless your on honeymoon or with the bit on the side!!) There was no bath in the room which is a real downer as we both find that very relaxing after a long day and would be expected at 4* level...although there may be baths in other rooms. Finally your brekkie is ONLY continental and any cooked food is at £9.95 extra which I found astounding after paying £279. I've never experienced this in some 300 hotels I've been in on work trips, but don't let that put you off. The location is fab, just 5 mins away from Lancaster Gate Tube and 3 mins from a lovely pub with food all day. The sleep was quiter than I get at home which was great. Lovely old fashioned decor and friendly enough service. Not much else to say about it realy as we were out at theatres and private karaoke booths the rest of the time! Would stay again but would request a room with a bath. The hotel welcome pack also refers to it as a 3* hotel when most sites say 4*, just something to bear in mind.

The best thing about my stay was...

Very good nights sleep!

Ok - but wouldn't stay again

This hotel is nothing special. When we got to our room, it was so tiny you could hardly walk round the bed. It was really hot, so we opened the window and there was a massive wasps next outside. I went to reception and they were happy to move us to another room. I was even shown 2 rooms and given a choice. The second room was far more modern and spacious. The downsides were the tap leaked, we could hear the ice machine kicking in and out and I think the staff smoked outside, as there was lots of loud chatting and general noise. The breakfast wasn't bad. All the usual bits and pieces, but no service with a smile and it was very noisy down there. The hotel is generally quite tired and cramped and we were rather glad to only be staying one night. The bed was comfy though and it is right on Hyde Park , so a fantastic location.

Excellent Hotel

I stayed at the hotel for two days this week as I had to attend a conference in central london. I booked a single room which was very clean and tidy and suited my needs. It was not a massive room but I was only sleeping there so it did not bother me. I did not hear any road news when in bed which was a bonus for central London. The staff were all polite and very helpful. The breakfast is continental which was fine, in fact it was a nice break from bacon and eggs etc, although you could purchase those if you required. I will definately stay there again in June when I am back for another conference.

Great location nice and quiet

Good hotel, excellent location close enough to the centre that you can pop back and forward but far enough away that its nice and quiet :-) The bathroom is a little bit tired (cracked tiles) but the rest of the room was very clean. I would agree with previous comments about the stairs. Staff are very friendly and helpful (we were able to store our bags their all day after we had checked out.) Good choice for breakfast. I would stay there again.

Proper English-style hotel at good location

The hotel as a good location in quite central London, with good connections with the Tube (central line) and buses to Oxford Street / Piccadilly Circus. The rooms seem to be, sadly, very London-style; smallish and beyond narrow and high-steeped stairs. The rooms are, however, clean, nice, and quiet. If you have mobility problems, though, make sure to mention it in the reservation because some of the rooms are ONLY accessible via stairs.
