big let down this year
Miss L Armstrong, South Lanarkshire
rooms were clean, food is good when we had it there, reception staff really helpful for the most part, but the kids club never opened, the pool staff were less then interested, only 1 pool open which was cloudy and slimy , as the other baby pool and slide pools pumps were still broken, so nothing for the kids to do. no hot water for 2 days. i was half board with my daughter for 2 weeks but only had dinner there 3 or 4 times as the staff just couldn't be bothered. We went there last year and had such a good time, the staff were great the kids club was great and every1 had the best time that is why i booked to go back this year, big let down this year so won't be going back. which is a shame, i know that Turkey had a bad season this year but all the more reason to look after the people that did come on holiday.
The best thing about my stay was...the room was clean

HORRENDOUS STAY AT THIS ACCOMMODATION.
When i booked my holiday with first choice holidays i was expecting an apartment, for me and my two friends. However, when we arrived, everything we saw was nothing of what we had been shown on the website, it was in fact the total opposite, the room we were put in first was tiny with two beds, i asked to be moved because we had payed for and been told that we were staying in an apartment, we were put into another room inside the hotel because we were told that all the apartments had been taken, this room was exactly the same but the door had a hole in which had tried to be covered with a piece of wood that had splinters hanging from it, this was a hazard to any small child that could be passing. We were finally placed into a room that had two beds in and a chair that folded out into a bed, i told the receptionist that i wanted 3 beds due to being promised an apartment, after finally getting my point across i was given a bed in replacement of the chair bed, the room was tiny. With all three of us in their we tried out best to keep it tidy, we had no where to put our suitcases, so we pushed the beds together to make as much room as possible, this left a tiny bit of room to leave our suitcases standing at the side of the beds. Also in the brochure we were told it involved air conditioning, this had to be paid for which was £4 a day, or you could rent a fan for £10 for the whole week, this did no good, it just blew hot air around the room. Our fridge was nicotine yellow inside and green mouldy in the corners, i asked for a new one and to my request i was given one, however this was not cold, but with our holiday already starting off to be a total sham we ignored the fact that the fridge wasn't very cold. Our shower was tiny, and the water squirted more into the toilet than onto our bodies, because we were small also we had to stand right next to the toilet to get a shower, this is not good in terms of hygiene, and infection control. When we would leave our room there would be pools of water outside our hotel room where the shower had leaked. The bottoms of the what were meant to be white shower curtains were bright yellow, and the grout in the floor was black where it was meant to be white. We had one tiny bin in the bathroom which wouldn't even fit a babies nappy in let alone a few days worth of rubbish. We were given three towels, obviously one each which we were expected to use all the holiday, luckily enough we had taken our own towels. Under the stairs there were turkish women sat gathering, this was not pleasent for people to look at.The sheets on our beds were changed once, and this was on the second to last day, the walls were full of stains and black scratched marks. all under the beds were filthy and there was a sachet of sugar that had been there all week, the cleaner had not bothered to clean it up and it was there on the floor down the side of the bed when we arrived. this is all i have to say about our hotel stay, we just made the most of our holiday and the entertainment could not be faulted in any way shape or form.
The best thing about my stay was...The weather and the entertainment could not be faulted- Mehmet Fernando and Nico were the only ones to actually make conersation with you.

Good food, Friendly Staff, Good Entertainment
When we arrived at hotel we sat in reception waiting to check in and one of the other guests that were checking out came over to us and immediately started to ramble on about the negative stuff she didnt like about the hotel. I thought this was very inconsiderate as we had just arrived and was looking forward to our holiday but it was like this person couldnt careless and just wanted spoil our holiday. There were a few things that wasnt at Club Green Dream which were listed online like the fitness centre and aqua slide. I found out half way through our weeks stay at the hotel that these facilities were at Antique Palace, which is the hotel next door. Another guest told us that Club Green Dream and Antique Palace used to be one large hotel but the owners fell out and decided to build a wall to split the two hotels. This is annoying because it was the fitness centre and the aqua park that made me book this hotel in the first place but to be honest it was so scorching hot that the last thing i wanted to do was workout in the gym!.lol But the Food and Entertainment in at Club Green Dream definitely made up for the things it lacked. I have never stayed any where before and seen waiters work so hard. Many of them would do double shifts and start from 7:30 in the morning right through till after midnight and still have a smile on their face and loads of energy to entertain guests. They not only have to serve guests but they also had to do the evening entertainment and get guests up dancing and make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. They all worked so hard as a team and were always polite and very friendly. They have definitely left me with a good impression of Turkish people. Yes I agree club green dream is not the Ritz and the hotel rooms could do with a refurb but the good vibe of the hotel makes up for the areas it is lacking.
The best thing about my stay was...Evening Entertainment

Reading the reviews prior to going scared the kids and they did not want to go
Gibbons family, Lincolnshire
When I booked this place, months ago, in general the reviews were good. A few days before going the kids asked me to show them where we were going. They read the recent reviews and they did not want to go. Turkey was one place we had never been. When we arrived at the hotel we paid for a safe (after reading reviews) We had two bedroom appartement, two bathrooms but the shower only worked in one. The room was in need of some repair with the floor but in general it met all our needs and was okay. Our towels were changed 4 times during our stay and sheets twice which was more than enough. We paid for air con which was a bit of a rip off as it was £4 a day and we had two units, one in each bed room but £4 a day only paid for one unit in one bedroom. You did have to buy toilet rolls. After having a few meals out of the hotel and two meals in the hotel, we were offered to upgrade to half board for a really good price which we did. We had cooked breakfast or whatever you wanted sausage sandwich etc. Evening meal was three course with the choice of whatever you wanted from the restaurant menu including steak and several types of chicken dinners with a variety of other meals - loads to choose from. Between 5 of us in our family we had something different everyday. The food could not be faulted, hot, well cooked and lovely. Then there is the entertainment everynight. All as i can say is its addictive. The waiters get you up dancing and its a right laugh and a load of fun with great music. They get you up whether you are a teenager, twenties, forties or even sixty. They made the holiday especially Mehmet. There was always some other act on too which was entertaining. The hotel appartment was not the best we have stopped in but the food and entertainment made it one of our best family holidays ever. The Turks are very friendly people. We will defo be going back. One thing we noticed is if you prebook your meals before going you will get a different menu and breakfast will be your bread, eggs etc
The best thing about my stay was...Food and entertainment

My family and my sister's family stayed here, last week in July, we had a great time, room was cleaned on a daily basis, also the cleaners were very friendly, if you had any complaints the receptionist would sort out pretty quickly, staff at the hotel and waiters were also very friendly, swimming pools and overall the hotel was clean, only downfall the lifts were out of order, but they were on the case. First time for me in Turkey had a fab time. Also food at the hotel and Ramy's chicken doner kebabs were very nice. Also shops and plenty restaurants on the Main Road.
The best thing about my stay was...Very friendly and clean atmosphere

Had a fab time at Club Green Dream
The Duffy family , North Lanarkshire, Scotland
Tried not to read all the review before going to Turkey as I decided I would decide what it was like when we arrived. On arrival at 1:00a.m we then had to go through the process of hiring air con and a safe which we found quite expensive. The next day we had to hire a fan (£10/week) for the livng area which was where the safa bed was. However on entering the apartment I checked the bathroom and the bed which were both very clean. The aparmtents have quite old fashioned furtinutre but was clean. We had a fantastic time at the hotel. We were told that the hotel had split about 4 months ago and the slides that was on the picutes was the other hotel Antique Palace. However most days we used the slides and no-one ever said anything to us. We thought the food in the hotel was really nice and we found the staff very nice and very helpful. On one occasion I was in the room myself and I had 800TL sitting out while the maid was in and I forgot it was there. I was out on the balcony when she came out and in broken English told me "notes can you take it" which I thought was very trustworthy of her, it could have been a completely different story. Myself, my husband and my two children aged 6 and 4 had a fab time and would't hesitate in going back
The best thing about my stay was...Cant pinpoint anything in particular - everything was enjoyable

Basic, but you get what you pay for!
Lisa Lawson, Hull East Yorkshire
We are a family of 5, we stayed at the Club Green Dream 1st June 2011for 1 week, we booked it on the Monday and flew out on the Tuesday so it was a very last minute holiday. We had been to Armutalan area of Marmaris before so knew the area and had previously walked through this hotel before so was familiar with it.But was shocked to find that the hotel had been splitinto 3 hotels instead of the one big complex it used to be ...so it no longer had the waterslide available that you see on it website. It still has 1 slide for adults and children and 1 for the younger children in the babie pool and the there is 2 good size pools and a baby one for use. When we arrived we were greeted by a man at the reception who helped with our bags and check in was very quick. When we went to our room is was clean and fairly spacious, we had a 2 bedroomed apartment with a double room with en-suite, twin room, and a bed settee in the lounge. The bathroom had a big shower cubicle and the showers were hot constantly. The pool areas was always clean with plenty of sunloungers available no matter what time we went down to the pool. The restaurant and bar is run independantly from the hotel who also take care of the poll area too. The food is reasonably priced English breakfast 5tl which is £2 with english sausage and bacon and heinz baked beans. The evening meals were also nice, but you could get a better deal outside in the local restaurants ...the Great Corner was our best meal, well worth it's money also hot stuff restaurant which is on the corner of the hotel it does great deals and they are large portions and drinks are bogof all day and night. We paid £61 for a weeks stay at this hotel for the 5 of us, and really enjoyed our holiday, so we really can't complain ....but to some we were very lucky as some people we talked to had several items stolen from the room, children's clothing, underwear and money taken from the wallets and one gentleman saw the cleaner with his wallet in her hand. We didn't have any of these problems and our children's dsi's , psp's etc were left in our room during the day. The cleaners were far from cleaners in my view they gave us clean towels once during our stay and changed the linen once, they came into our room daily, but why i am not sure, as they did nothing in it.....we had our bathroom floored grouted without our knowledge until we went to our room, and that was on our second day and the floors were all dusty and white chalky powder was all over but they never got moped or swept. We are non smokers but had caught the cleaners sat on one of our children's beds having a cigerette. You get 1 toilet roll so take your own.
The best thing about my stay was...It was so cheap £620 for a family of 5 ..Flights, transters, hotel...can't complain!

I Had A Great Time
Turkey !! I Love It. Had a wicked time made some great friends and hope to go back next year! They are hoping to redecorate the hotel so hopefully the lifts will be working. We had 29 people join us on this holiday and they all agree. I miss the Antique Palace and I think that the rating should be a 5 star hotel. Next year I will Be re-visting the Antique Palace and catching up with some friends.

We had a group of 16 at Antique ranging in ages from 16-70 and i can honestly say this hotel caters for everyone. There have been a lot of changes and improvements made to the hotel this year 2008. Staff as always are friendly and cant do enough for you. Antique Palace is situated in very good location with the dolmus stopping right at the hotel should u need it. We all loved Hot Stuff the bar attached to the hotel where everyone was friendly and have kept in touch through internet. The Turkish night was a bit of a let down compared to last year as it turned into the usual disco night really. You will find a really good Turkish night next to Flares Restaurant down the road but this has to be booked. The only other thing i would like to see is organised entertainment round the pool throughout the day. Musn't forget to mention the British Chippy across the road where we gained a lot of local knowldge and information and of course very good homemade chips! Magic holiday in Marmaris and will book again most definately. Brilliant fun hotel.

the NEW 'Club Antique Palace' in 2008
Geoff Catterall, Preston
This year all has changed at the Antique. I was a little surprised at first to find the hotel renovations not completed, but apparantly the management, staff and the set up of the buildings have changed recently and most of the staff were new, this season. and it was raining when I arrived. The rooms were basic, and so was breakfast, but the atmosphere and the staff were unchanged - the bar and restaurant staff quickly got it right and sorted themselves out. As the holiday of 9 days went buy, things became more organised, new areas appeared and by the time I was ready to leave, 16th May, reception was finished and running well. A few customers were grumbling about the food - but I can best describe their complaints as unfounded. The only fault - the top floor single room which I had. The 'eaves' cut well into the room-space and can give you a nasty headache now and again. I arrived on a Saturday morning - the disco went on till early hours and the music was too loud. After telling reception I was assured it would not happen again till this hour as it was a special party night ... and it didn't. There were only a handful of people there on arrival, but at the end of the holiday, the hotel was half full. 250-300 rooms, mainly couples and families with young children. Another good holiday at the Antique, staff were brilliant and simply couldn't do enough for you. Rooms cleaned regularly and plenty going on during the day for kids. If you are looking for a four star hotel with english breakfasts and good well-prepared cuisine, then you will get it at the Antique, but I was bed and breakfast, and had the choice to eat in their restaurant or go locally to one of the many bars, cafes, etc to eat and drink. The food everywhere was good and about the same price as the UK for a decent pub-dinner. (£8-£9 per person). The Wednesday night Bar-B-Que was £10 per head, but the bar across the road, was great on Tues & Sat nights with a great atmosphere and a Bar-B Que for half the cost. In brief, if you book B&B don't expect English food at breakfast. you'll get it if you pay for it, but I found the Turkish breakfast was fine, given the great weather we had for the remainder of the holiday. By September the staff will be be exhausted - nobody can keep up their attentiveness, for that length of time. A great holiday again, and be back next year, but request a room facing the main road.

A great bunch of guys - lots of fun!
Geoffrey Catterall, Burnley, Lancashire
I stayed here for 8 nights during June this year - the hotel was impressive from the outset [although the furniture was a bit in need of refurbishment] but nevertheless adequate, and our room was cleaned regularly and sheets and towels replaced everyday. The facilities in this four building complex surrounded a decent freshwater pool, with good bar/restaurant to one side. Internet cafe, hairdressers, clothing shop and supermarket are all here, and the staff are really nice and very friendly. Security is both excellent and a nice bunch of guys who really enjoy getting to know their customers. Food was adequate [we booked half board] and for the money we paid, was very good value for money. Home from home atmosphere, and although this was my first trip to Marmaris, I will be back soon and stay at this excellent hotel again. REALLY I can't praise the staff enough, everything was good, including the fantastic weather. 40 degrees throughout the holiday, but a nice cool breeze made this bearable. Plenty of local bars for all ages in the area, without having to go down BAR STREET and the MARKET area. The sea and Marina is a 800 yard walk, but buses are cheap and run every ten minutes from outside the hotel. Brilliant place to use as a base to discover the real value of Turkey and their heritage.
