Great hotel and great location
The hotel was really modern and clean. The location was excellent few steps to the wonderfull beach and about a 15 minute walk to the centre. Facilities are basic which is why it is only 3 star, no tea or coffee facilities which was a big thumbs down for us , and the breakfast was very limited. Apart from that it was a great hotel and would go again

Room for improvement.

We have stayed at the Carvi many times before (from when first called Sol e Praia). This year on arrival we found the room allocated not to our liking. We requested a sea view, but rooms on the ground floor do not provide this easily. It could be argued that rooms on this level should not be classed as providing a sea view. There were various problems with the room allocated, one of which was that none of the three drawers provided could be opened due to close proximity of the entrance door. The room itself was very small and other than the two beds and bedside tables there was no other furniture in the room. Fortunately although the hotel was busy, particularly for this time of year, we were offered two alternative rooms, one of which was satisfactory as far as size/furniture was concerned but over the main hotel entrance which proved to be noisy and busy most of the time, particularly in the evening. Best rooms to go for are 206 & 7 or 306 & 7. We have always accepted than the breakfast is more geared to our continental neighbours, so don't expect your full English, you won't get it. However, the reception staff and room service are excellent.
The best thing about my stay was...Close to the best beach in the Algarve

sweet and simple

Carvi Lagos is in a quiet location so not the place for a party or a busy weekend. Its a bit too far from everything but nice and quiet at least. The price is very good...but sometimes its better to pay more and get a bit more. They could upgrade certain aspects...decoration, breakfast etc...and it would be a far more exciting stay. TIP: don't get a room facing the back--walls and zero view. Pay a bit more for a sea view...its about the only attraction, so take advantage of it!
The best thing about my stay was...the view

Great hotel, fantastic location, but!!!

We've stayed at the Carvi before a few years ago, but since then it's had a bit of a facelift. We had a room in the newer wing with a balcony nearly as big as the room itself, but the view, especially first thing in the morning, just as the sun was rising over the horizon was spectacular. The room itself was fairly basic but comfortable, could do with tea making facilities and maybe a minibar, but we've said this before, so we're still waiting for the pigs to fly over. For some reason there is a small wooden table and two chairs in the room, can't see the reason for them, as there is a plastic table and chairs on the balcony, we would have thought that a chest of drawers would have been more useful, as there is a distinct lack of hanging and draw space. Breakfast was a mediocre affair, especially as the food is geared more to our european neighbours, but if you like plastic ham and cheese, go for it. The pool is on the roof, with about fifteen loungers, but it's unheated and quite a shock to the system when you first get in. There is regular transport during the day to and from the hotel, i.e. local bus and Chu Chu train, but there is a steep hill on the walk back from the town after a night revelling. All in all, a good basic hotel, that is boosted by it's superb location and the friendliness of the staff.
The best thing about my stay was...The view of the sun rising from the balcony

Nice little summer break
Easy, comfortable & friendly place. About 15-20minute walk to the centre / marina. A minute walk to a very beautiful beach with a great beach bar / restaurant. 2nd time in Lagos, all water sports can be organised. Would recommend to visit. Small but cute. Golf courses not far. Only 3rd floor of hotel can be a bit noisy from upstairs as breakfast is served on 4th floor. Had a great stay, couple from Czech & NZ.

will not return
mr and mrs holmes, derby
very basic hotel, no luxury at all. needs updating drastically. pool ok but not enough sunloungers and most of them very old and cracked. only a couple of umbrellas. pool bar never open. no imagination on the breakfasts...very repetitive. good 1/2 hour walk into the town and quite hilly. very noisy. ok if you are after cheap but not that cheerful! recommend taking your own coffee as there's like sludge. main bar restricted to certain times of the day therefore unable to get a drink when you wanted one. will not be returning
