Last Minute Holiday Deals in November

Halloween’s officially over; but it seems too early to start celebrating Christmas just yet. What to do? Well, you could start searching for a last-minute holiday deal. With it being low season in many places around the globe right now, it’s the perfect time to pick up some fantastic offers on accommodation. The best part is, you don’t even need to search for them. We’ve highlighted four deals that will make your November truly fantastic.

While some beach destinations have closed shop by November, Lanzarote still sizzles with temperatures in the twenties. Puerto del Carmen is one of the prettiest resorts on the island: situated in an old fishing village, the harbour boasts a collection of excellent seafood restaurants. With over 6km of sandy beaches, you may be reluctant to leave your lounger and top up that that tan ahead off all those Christmas parties waiting for you back home. However if you do, you’ll be rewarded with some top attractions, like the Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park which features water slides and an eagle show. Rooms at the Aparthotel Puerto Carmen start from £33.00.

Although it’s only a three-hour flight away, Marrakesh can sometimes feel like a whole new world. The enchanting Jemaa el Fna square is home to snake charmers, monkeys and questionably-authentic belly dancers. Visitors can spend time trawling the maze of souks for treasures, such as beaded slippers and intricately-decorated tea sets. Being able to haggle and drink copious amounts of sweet mint tea is a must when travelling here! In the evening, the square becomes alive with street food stalls and fire-breathers. The more adventurous amongst you may be tempted to try the local specialty – snail soup! Although flavoursome tajines and delicately spiced sausages are on offer for those that would rather play it safe. The four-star Hotel El Andalous is a ten-minute walk from the square and has rooms starting from £36.00.

In November, Benidorm throws its annual fiesta, which is always a big hit with British holidaymakers. In fact, to such an extent that the Brits have tapped their own day onto the end of the festivities – The Unofficial British Fancy Dress day, which this year takes place on the 17th. The week-long fiesta honours the town’s patron saints: La Virgen del Sufrage and Jaime Apostle. A large fairground sets up in the resort, and celebrations include a mixture of processions, fireworks and sets by named DJs. There are also many child-friendly activities scheduled in. The Hotel Sol Pelicanos, which featured in the ITV series Benidorm as the Solana resort, has rooms from £46.00 per night.

Burns Night may be the big one in Scotland, but the 30th November is St. Andrew’s Day, when Scots commemorate their patron saint. Although most of the celebrations are centered around the town of St. Andrews in Fife, Edinburgh also has several events taking place: Café Ceilidh celebrates Scotland’s storytelling heritage with songs, poetry and music, whilst Historic Scotland offers free tickets to many attractions, including Edinburgh Castle. The city will also be geared up for Christmas from the 19th November, with a European Christmas market, ice skating rink and Christmas tree maze. A stay at the Ibis Styles in St. Andrew’s namesake square costs from £89.00.
