Neuschwanstein Castle has to be the most jaw dropping as it sits high on a giant rock surrounded by greenery. There also plenty of hiking you can do in the area. When you are ready for a bit of fun head over to Seewald Leisure Park for a ride on the toboggan that passes through lush forest and quaint villages. The tree top walk at Bad Wildbad is also well worth a visit. Sitting 1250 meters high you can get some great views of the Black Forest and there are fun obstacles and a giant spiral slide too. When you are ready to wind down there are lots of wineries in the area that you can pop into for tastings – if you go on a wine tour you won’t have to worry about transport so you can let your hair down.
Slovenia is full of mountains, lush greenery, lakes and caves which makes it the perfect base to explore on a city break. Lake Bled is probably the most famous attraction which is just an hour away from the city. Bled Castle overlooks the dramatic landscape and you can take a boat ride on a traditional flat-bottomed boat to get a close up view of the church that sits alone on an island in the middle of the lake. Close by is Vintgar Gorge where there are lots of waterfalls, rapids and narrow bridges so it’s a nice place to stretch your legs and get into nature. Postajnska Caves is also well worth a visit, the cave is huge so expect to do a bit of walking. You can make a day of it as there is Predjama Castle nearby too. In the city centre there are lots of places you can do wine tasting, sample the local cuisine and see some modern art. Slovenia is also well known for its adventure sports so if you want to try white water rafting, canyoning, paragliding or zip lining, there is certainly the option to give something a try.
