great location friendly staff
Chose the hotel as was visiting friends staying at their apartment. Great location could walk to the beach and old town ran round the marina. Wish the front gate closed later as had to walk down steep steps to get back to my room.

The positive s- This hotel is in a great location with a 10 minute walk to the center of albufiera. It is very clean with maids coming daily and a nice quite pool area with fantastic views. The staff where very polite and attentive. Overall I would stay here again. The negatives - the rooms are very basic without a fridge or kettle = No tea :( . Whilst wifi was available at the pool area we did not receive a signal in our room which made using our phones and computers pointless within the rooms. The breakfast is not really a negative as it served its purpose, though a little more selection would be great. Overall a great cheap and relaxing stay at a hotel that need a little updating.
The best thing about my stay was...Pool area - relaxing and strong wifi

Good value and great location.
We had 3 rooms booked and all were very nice. A bit old fashioned but very clean and maid service every day. Breakfast good selection. Short walk to old town square. Some people complaining about stiff climb back to hotel at night but we found a much easier way back which brought us back to the left side off hotel (if facing reception from outside). Not a very large sunbathing area so a fight for sunbeds but beach not far away.

Not 4 Star But Amazing Views
This hotel is definitely not 4 star but if you have booked a sea room view it goes along way to making up for any short comings. Staff are friendly and the location is great as long as you are OK with steps and steep paths
The best thing about my stay was...View from the balcony in the room

We had a great stay at the Boa Vista! We had a few problems with our room when we arrived and had to stay in an apartment for the first evening however the staff dealt with this extremely efficiently and were very helpful. The breakfast was really good and a good choice including eggs, meats, cereals and fruits. The pool area is really nice and always clean. We had a great stay at the Boa Vista and the hotel has beautiful views across the ocean.

We were very disappointed with this hotel. The start of the holiday started off very poor. We booked in at 11.00am but could not go to the rooms until 2.00pm which was not a problem however when we returned at 2.00pm we found out that the receptionist had given away all four of our sea view 4th floor rooms. What was worse at first she denied that we had ever been given them. The Manager got involved and was very ineffective and upset us all even more. They offered us other rooms and stated we could be moved the next day to the fourth floor. Myself and my husband did not want the hassle of having to move. Eventually the receptionist advised that she had made a mistake. If she had been truthful in the first instance, although we would have been disappointed, we would not have wasted so much precious holiday time in trying to get to the truth. There never seemed to be enough staff having always having to go and find someone to serve drinks at the bar. Breakfast was basic wo wants baked beans every day of the week? The staff at breakfast were disorganised it was meant to be ready at 7.30am however there was never any coffee or hot water for tea that was ready. They ran out of plates and there was a massive shortage on saucers for the cups. In the week I stayed I never seen the pool cleaned once and we was at the pool every morning until early afternoon. My family had terrible problems trying to get their rooms cleaned befoe 3.00pm and was also given towels which were frayed and also had holes in them. I can not see why this hotel is 4 stars. The hotel could be really nice if it was managed correctly. The manager in my mind was very ineffective and when he tryed to put something right it made things worse. I also felt him unprofessional by smoking as he was going about his duties.

A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY IN A BEAUTIFUL QUIET LOCATION
Sheila Lane, Castleford
VERY NICE HOTEL IN QUIET LOCATION, STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY, ESPECIALLY MANUEL WHO WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE SURE WE HAD FIRST CLASS SERVICE. HE ALSO ORGANISED A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR HIM. GREAT FOR COUPLES THE ONLY DRAWBACK IS THE HILL WALKING BACK TO HOTEL, YOU MUST BE FIT! ROOMS WERE VERY SPACIOUS AND WE HAD FABULOUS BALCONIES OVERLOOKING THE BAY OF ALBERFEIRA. FRUIT AND CHAMPAGNE LEFT IN ROOM FOR MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY WAS A WONDERFUL GESTURE AND MUCH APPRECIATED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE WANTING TO STAY IN A TYPICAL PORTUGUESE HOTEL WHO WANT BEAUTIFUL VIEWS IN A QUIET LOCATION AND STAFF WHO CARE.

Just returned for the Boa Vista hotel in Old Town, albufeira. This hotel is rated 4 star, in my opinion it is a 3 star hotel, thats not to say i didnt like it. The rooms are quite small, but clean, and cleaned every day. We booked a seaview and when we arrived they had no record of our booking, therefore our room was not available. We were put into a small holding room, with no view but as this was 1am and we were tired, we were okay about it. The next morning we were moved to a seaview room which was lovely. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. We went half board, but would not recommend this as the breakfast was fine, but the evening meals leave a lot to be desired. We ate out 3 nights out of 7 and there is some fantastic restaurants in the old town. I wouldnt recommend this hotel is you are frail or do not like walking, as there are 56 steps up to it, or its about 5 euros in a taxi. All in all, we loved the area and the beach is fantastic, only a short walk away and i would stay there again only not half board. Not a hotel for children.
The best thing about my stay was...The beautiful beach, lovely weather and friendly people

Great Location. Quiet but only 10 mins walk from the Centre
Phil & Sue Lewis, Huddersfield
We booked The Boa Vista 2 weeks before we went at a very reasonable rate. The room was spacious and clean with a nice view over Fishermans Beach. The pool was quiet (although very cold!) but made for quiet relaxing days. No children either which was fantastic as the main reason for holiday was to chill out. The pool is not children friendly (no shallow end) which made it great for swimming. Breakfast choice was a bit limited but ok to start the day. The staff were very friendly and service was faultless.

A perfect holiday!!
We have just returned from a fantastic holiday staying at the Boa Vista. We paid extra to have a sea view room, which was definately worthwhile! The rooms were basic but very clean with fresh towels every day. Meals were on a buffet basis with a BBQ night one evening and live entertainment two evenings. We found all staff very courteous and polite and made use of the free sauna and Turkish bath several times in the hotel spa. The pool area has a panoramic view over the beach and sea towards the harbour and always had sunbeds available any time during the day. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is only a 10 minute walk to the Old Town or in the opposite direction, 15 minutes to the marina. We would definately use this hotel again as it was very good value for money.
The best thing about my stay was...Beautiful weather

We stayed at the Boa Vista for a week in August. The Staff were friendly and informative when we arrived. We had booked two twin rooms sleeping two people and three people. Unfortunately the triple room was a double and sofa bed which was disappointing. The rooms were larger than originally thought and were clean but needed a bit of TLC to bring up to 4 star. The fridge is charged at one euro per night but was well worth it. Air conditioning a bit hit and miss. We were on the side of the hotel so had limited views of the sea but couldnt complain for the price paid. The pool area was pleasant with lovely views of the sea. Some of the parasols were a bit tatty, when we queried we were told that they had purchased new ones but they had been damaged by the wind. The food was excellent. Every night you have a choice of 3 fish and 3 meat dishes. All of the food is cooked to order and you are served by a waiter/waitress who were very friendly. Special mention for the Portugeuse waiter who looked after us excellently. The location of the hotel is excellent for the old town, beach and marina. Although take low shoes as it is quite steep coming back up. There is a bus-stop outside the hotel that will take you to the old town and the Strip. Overall we had a very lovely holiday and would definately return to the Boa Vista.
The best thing about my stay was...Food was excellent.

very enjoyable holiday
martin lloyd, cumbria
We stayed for 10 nights Half Board at the Boa Vista in Early June. Negatives: 59 steps from the bottom entrance which is locked at 11.00 p.m., balconies very small, rooms need a bit of TLC, No draught beer bottles only at 2.20 euros, bar not always manned in the daytime. Positives lovely sea views from the higher rooms and the pool areas, rooms are very clean with english tv and mini bar, staff very friendly and helpful, walking distance of the old town and beach, food and service excellent. After reading the previous reviews we were not expecting 5 star luxury but we were pleasantly surprised. The standard of the evening meals was superb. In fact we can honestly say this was the best food we have ever had abroad and we consider ourselves to be seasoned travellers. Every night you have a choice of 3 fish and 3 meat dishes. All of the food is cooked to order and you are served by a waiter/waitress. Fish Dishes included cod, halibut, salmon, swordfish and perch. Meat dishes included steak, pork loin chops, lamb chops, veal and, chicken. Overall we had a very enjoyable holiday and would definately return to the Boa Vista. The highlight for us was the high standard of the evening meals

Good value for money, great location
have just returned from a short stay at this hotel. The reviews I read beforehand were quite mixed so wasn't expecting much. However, I found the hotel to be perfectly adequate for my needs, the staff were friendly, the pool area was lovely with the most stunning views of the atlantic and the breakfast was good. The room was not the best, the balcony was very small, the view wasn't great and the decor could do with a refresh. We were offered an upgrade but stuck with it and it was fine. The location was perfect, about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and just a bit further to the centre. Well away from 'the strip' which was brilliant so nice a quiet at night! Be aware there was no hairdryer in the room and it would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the room as well.

Just back from Albufeira & the hotel wasnt a 4 star but a good 3 star !! Staff were very pleasant & breakfast was ample to set you up for the day. If you like walking (which we do) you will love the walk into the town or the other way to the Marina.(Very Hilly) The old Town is just brilliant, you can have whatever you want, noisy bars, quiet restaurants, chilled out bars....everything !! We even bumped into Keith Harris (of the duck fame !!) And yes...he was a numpty !!! Ha ha ha Food was expensive but the local beer (Sagres or Superbock) was reasonable at between 2 & 3 euro's a pint. Cant wait to go back in September !! Make sure you visit the Marina...reasonable prices & so relaxing !!

Hotel in a lovely locaction. We didnt get the sea view room we requested, this was blamed on our booking agent. They said they did not receive that request despite I having received confirmation of same in advance. We felt isolated as we were ln the lower floor with no other occupants and close to a back door near the road. Over all we got great service The barman Middle aged man was very welcoming, on our late arrival at the hotel. B/B was very good value. Room was adequate for our short stay, maintained each day, A welcome drink on our second day and fruit and water in our room was a very nice touch. I would return but would have to be guaranteed a room higher up in the building.
