We stay frequently at the Arona Gran I rang and checked that the refurbishment wouldn't be happening until after Easter. However there were workmen working on the first floor bedrooms consequently while sunbathing it was extremely noisy.

Just returned from 10 day break in this great hotel, our first time there and our overall impression was excellent. Initially we were allocated a top floor room, which proved unsuitable for me as i have a fear of heights, unfortunately not only was the external height an issue for me but the internal corridors to get to the rooms are open with views to the4 lobby below. All credit to the reception, who without hesitation found us an alternative 1st floor room with the same sea view, all done with no question. The self service aspect of the main restaurant we would describe as chaotic at peak times, both morning and evening, especially for those not so able bodied or aware. Excellent location at the end of the resort. Whilst we didn't do any sport activities or use the sauna, what we did experience was fantastic. For the first time in all our holidaying years we would almost certainly return to the hotel.

Spacious, friendly, good food, clean maybe needs a little room update.
Barbara Collins, Wrexham
For us this hotel was in a great position, quiet out of the busstle but accessible to bars, restaurants and entertainments. The hotel is very spacious with a large entertainments room. the pool area was attractive and it was nice to be able to walk out at about 10.30 am and find a free sunbed, but of course that was in November, maybe different earlier in the year. Good variety of food and was kept "topped up" until just before close with friendly helpfull staff. Looking forward to returning.
The best thing about my stay was...We just enjoyed the whole thing.

A quiet haven in Tenerife
Derek Byne, Dublin 11
This is a nice hotel, nicely positioned away from the noisier places on the beach front. I found the staff friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself is huge, a little bit basic as in could do with a touch of the 21st century, clean though. I am early 40's and went with my wife and her father who is 73. He liked it more than us as it was a bit too quiet. The guy on the piano was the only (put you to sleep) entertainment there was. Strangely enough in the lounge there were two doors that opened into probably the biggest and nicest cabaret room I have ever seen. sadly a band played there every night but not a single person went in. this was in August. it attracts a lot of elderly people, not that thats a bad thing but it was very quiet. My first time in Tenerife and it was pleasant. the people trying to get you into the bars or eateries were very annoying but what do you do. walk to the main town of Tenerife food and drink a bit dearer but worth it, a lovely town. Rooms were very basic, but the pool area and breakfast were really nice, you can have a fry every morning if cheese and pepporini isn't your thing first thing in the morning. get your toast first and the get your breakfast you'll understand why if you go.
The best thing about my stay was...Relaxing, great pool area, service and of course the weather.

We are just back from our second stay in the Arona Gran and I can honestly say it was an outstanding two weeks. We booked on a B&B basis but found the food in the hotel far superior and better value than the restaurants in Los Cristianos and Las Americas. The room was immaculate - cleaned daily with fresh linen. The facilities in the hotel are excellent - beautiful pool area, dining and bar facilities. The service is thoroughly professional and always with a smile. The whole ambience of the hotel is one of luxury and attention to detail. We will definitely be returning.
The best thing about my stay was...Food, service and atmosphere.

Hotel, food and staff cannot be faulted. Only issue is the "hogging" of sunbeds from an early hour which are not then used until later in the day. Suggest a system whereby beds can only be reserved when occupied.

Brilliant hotel and difficult to find fault at all. Rooms good size, spotless, good view from side seaview room. Beds were on two wheels though which meant they moved around a bit ..!! Meals wonderful, great choice including vegetarian options. Wine from about 11 euros bottle at dinner is reasonable and restaurant service incredibly efficient. Hotel is about 15 mins walk to nearest beach with sunbeds (9 euros a day for 2 beds and brolly). If you want a sunbed at the hotel then you will have to do as the rest do and set your alarm Very Early. If you wait until breakfast time there will be none left!! We never managed it to get one. Hotel is at the end of the town and in a quiet area, but promenade in front of hotel takes you right to the other end of Playa. There is a Sunday market next to the hotel but it was very quiet. Can thoroughly recommend.
The best thing about my stay was...Food was really good quality and a nice quiet location.

The Arona grand is a very nice place to be. The facilities are exccellent and the staff efficient without being over powering. The fact that its at the end of the resort is good because its very quiet. Pool outstanding view great. Breakfast is very good with the 'Full English' available. They were the first place in spain who have a clue how to cook bacon. American and Continental also available. There was a diabetic section as well which was good but as a diabetic myself I didn't go near it. I was on holiday I need good food! The excursions we went on were a dissapointment so much that I cancelled ours after the first. The Hotel sorted this with no problem. The excursions were some body elses so no blame on the Hotel for the poor time. Would recommend this as good hotel is required in a place which otherwise is pretty dull
The best thing about my stay was...Free Golf facilities

The hotel was extremely friendly, very comfortable, lovely room and food and can't complain at all, except for not particularly marvellous entertainment. However, we really enjoyed our stay and want to revisit the hotel.

Wow. Just Wow.

What a fantastic time we had at the Arona Gran. All rooms are sea view and they had their own fireworks display at midnight for the new year celebrations. The buffet was excellent and the champagne was free all evening. Its expensive, but worth every penny. Will be returning next year.

Hotel needs to up it's game a little, adults only would be a start!

I am writing this review having stayed at this hotel many times in the past few years. I have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Arona Gran and although I did enjoy my holiday here, there are a few things I feel should be pointed out. Overall the hotel has not changed much since I started holidaying there over 10 years ago - some may say this is not a bad thing, but with all the new hotels springing up in Tenerife, and the high prices the Arona Gran charges, I think it is only fair to expect some improvements for this hotel to be in keeping with it's 4 star label. The hotel itself was very tastefully decorated for Christmas, and staff made the hotel have a very pleasant ambience, always very helpful and cheery. Rooms are standard with lovely sea views which are definitely worth paying the extra for. However, there are 2 things that really did annoy me on my stay this time. Firstly, the quality of the food in the dining room. Breakfast was excellent, but evening meals were a big let down. Cheap cuts of meat, weird and wonderful concoctions, and cold/bland overcooked dishes were served up. Secondly, I found the number of poorly behaved children staying in the hotel very irritating. There were several famillies staying, and I do appreciate that in the run up to Christmas, it is a time for children, but this hotel simply does not cater for them, with no facilities, therefore they run around bored as the parents don't care what they get up to. This was very noticeable in the dining room. Most people staying at thie hotel are mature couples, and I am sure they don't want to be annnoyed with kids, doing laps of the dining room, shouting and screaming, and putting their hands into the food. In my opinion, this hotel should be made adults only throughout. Having said all that, I did enjoy my stay there, there is something nice about returning to a hotel that never changes, although next time I think bed and breakfast would be a better option, as there are so many nice restaurants to try in Los Cristianos.
The best thing about my stay was...large sunny balcony with sea view

Autumn half term sunshine break
Lucy Bradbury, Bolton
The hotel was brilliant, excellent food, lovely pool area, sun beds always available with clean towels, clean spacious rooms and helpful staff if and when you needed assistance. A superb gym and various activities were available eg water aerobics if you like that sort of thing and certainly nothing pushy. We had a side sea view which was disappointing - a multi storey building (Cosmar) obscured some of the view but we did get used to it after a while. Across the road there were small bars and restaurants neither seedy nor posh and we enjoyed a couple of nights at The Market Tavern where they had entertaining acts. The promenade was lovely we had a taxi to La Caleta and walked the full length back. Also we walked up the cliff path and onto the headland with nice views.
The best thing about my stay was...The top quality buffet and leisurely dining
