Mr & Mrs Goodacre, Leicester
We was due to stay at the Aristea in Elounda for two nights Friday and Saturday 22/23 August 2014. We stayed in room 407. 1. On arrival it was not particularly welcoming. 2. The reception staff were very not interested and unhelpful. (sat behind the desk with his headphones on) 3. The room was overcrowded (a double and a single bed in a double room) 4. There was a small fridge on a rickety stand (not safe) when you left the room you had to take the fob out so the electricity went off for the fridge so you couldn't keep anything cool, 5. The balcony was about a foot wide and the glass screen was cracked it was also covered in bird droppings with an ashtray that had not been cleaned. 6. The bathroom was not clean and poorly maintained, the toilet did not flush properly, the shower head leaked more water than actually came through it, the shower curtain was unclean to the extent it was stiff, the floor was constantly wet (unsure where the liquid was coming from), 7. The room linen both bathroom and bed linen were very tired and of a low standard and quite a range of different shades of white, 8. Breakfast although it was continental was of a poor standard (stale bread, cereals were stale, meat and cheese not good quality and warm) drinks both tea and coffee pre made so unable to determine freshness, 9. Overall cleanliness very poor, and fixtures and fittings were tired and have seen better days 10. I asked to upgrade and the answer was a definitive NO, We only stayed for one night as it was uncomfortable and unwelcoming. If this hotel is still on your books we would advise that you have it reviewed by your company. Expected a higher standard from a reputable company.
The best thing about my stay was...The door out.

Dont pick this hotel!

Elounda is a lovely place,if you dont want lots of drunken idiots then this place is ideal, good food to have, lovely people, nice beach with quite water, nice bars, especially Babels, serve food through the day which was excellent, bar by night. Now the hotel, not the place to stay, room was small with a small fridge, shower was poor, bed was awful,tv was old portable showing no english programs, people always banging doors, the breakfast if you can call it that was dreadful,we ate out after the first day.Its so dated with decor and furniture, needs a complete revamp.I would go back at some point but definately find somewhere better to stay.
The best thing about my stay was...None

Approachable and friendly staff. Room basic but very clean. Continental breakfast was adequate and no more than we expected. Stunning views, great central location. Excellent value. Will definitely return as the town of Elounda has a great choice of of bars and restaurants offering different types of entertainment. Would recommend a trip to Spinalonga and a visit to miakoda (Mexican Restaurant) for good food, friendly service and live music.
The best thing about my stay was...The entertainment on Saturday night at the miakoda restaurant. English and Greek music, great food and atmosphere.
