Great location but bad food!

locatie is schitterend, overal dichtbij. Receptie vriendelijke dames

Nice but dim

We received nearly everything that we paid for. The girls on reception were lovely and after a rocky start with an inhospitable manager we had a relatively pleasant stay. The cleaners were loud (started at 8am), our room was small and we had to drink from plastic cups but we hadn't paid the earth to stay there. There were hidden charges everywhere, from wanting a late check out to wi-fi but again not unexpected. The worst bit was the fact we didn't get the room we paid for from the outset and when we made the manager aware we were confronted with denial and rudeness. We even said good morning once to the manager who just stared back at us with a stone-like face. Very poor. It was what it was but we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

115 The Strand

My wife and I stayed at The Strand for 3 nights this December. As we had only paid for an interior room we asked if we could upgrade to a sea-view room. We were politely informed that this would cost an extra 15 euros a night which we decided was reasonable. We were glad we did this as the view across the harbour towards Valletta was very picturesque. Although there is traffic noise until late at night and in the early morning, with closed doors and air-conditioning this wasn't an issue. The room itself was clean, modern and comfortable, and of very good value, especially as breakfast was included. The breakfast was very satisfactory with a reasonable selection of cereals, bread/rolls, cold meat and cheese, fruit and yoghurt, and cooked bacon, sausage, boiled egg, and pastries. Price considered, I don't think you could expect more, and the breakfast staff were all cheerfull and helpful. This applied to the reception staff also who answered our questions and dealt with our requests in a pleasant and professional manner. Drinks and nibbles were provided free on one evening to enable clients to meet others and the staff..a nice touch. All in all, we had a very agreeable stay in a scenic location not far removed from the bars, restaurants, shops and transport system of Sliema. We would use this hotel again.

The best thing about my stay was...

The comfort of the room, view and helpful staff.

Good value hotel

Really good clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Upgrade to sea view room for best experience and brilliant views across harbour to Valletta. Breakfast simple but very adequate in terms of quality and choice.

don't stay in this hotel

i read reviews on this hotel before i went and some of them were pretty bad i chose to ignore them which was a huge mistake ,i arrived late on the 23/05/16 the entrance door was locked you cannot enter or leave after midnight without security opening the door for you . reception staff were helpful but miserable, the rooms are ok nice view over the bay if you pay for a sea view, but after that it all goes downhill you have to pay for internet per day per device a lot of money for 2 people staying a week i paid for my son to use his laptop in the room because he was so bored he tried to download a movie it took 6 hours ,you also have to pay for the tv another 30 euros. DO NOT GO HALF BOARD OR EVEN BREAKFAST AT THIS HOSTEL the food is just basic and disgusting no variety every night was pasta more pasta kinda sliced roast potatoes things either a fish one night meat the next ,one evening chicken curry was on the menu i imagined fluffy basmati rice and a nice chicken curry sauce reality however was what looked like a rice pudding all in the same tray tried teaspoon full nearly threw up,tried the baked pasta undercooked, ended up with potatoes, every night desert was cake no ice cream or fruit salad just cake every night,i heard a lot of people complain and staff would say we will let chef know,he docent deserve the title of a chef he was a cook a very poor cook, please please please don't stay here it will ruin your stay in sliema also at the time we stayed they are knocking down a building next door all you can hear is pneumatic drill and banging going on from 7am until about 4pm

great location

Fairly basic hotel, but rooms where very clean and beds comfortable a great location to explore the island. Wi only in reception and it is not great, other than that it was fine, the staff especially the waiting staff where excellent thumbs up for them, breakfast was small but we had enough if u want a five star hotel then book into one this hotel is fine on a budget.

Great value

Had a lovely stay at 115 The Strand. Glad we booked sea view room as watching the sun rise over Valetta was spectacular. Breakfast was just ok.

The best thing about my stay was...

Size. Not just a room, almost an apartment

3 star hotel with 4 star views

The views across the harbour are lovely if you book a seaview room. 603 was clean and bright and a reasonable size for a twin room. Every member of staff was pleasant and helpful and that's a real credit to them. Downside - lots of school groups stay here which is great for the hotel but can be noisy at times. The main problem was the restaurant which is not equipped to deal with the numbers. One morning the machine ran out of water for coffee and two mornings it ran out of coffee. The continental buffet was adequate but each morning it ran out of several items and there was a wait while they were replaced. I chose half board and wouldn't recommend it unless you like school dinners. Every night there were 2 types of pasta, 2 types of potatoes, carrots and cauliflower (yes for 6 nights) and there was a choice of a meat or fish dish. Dessert was fresh fruit (banana, apple or orange) or a piece of cake which was also served at breakfast. No tea or coffee. There was a basic salad bar and soup also. The hotel charges 14.50 euros for the main meal or 15% discount for 3 nights so, unless there's a really good deal for half board I would suggest waiting. The roof terrace does have 3 sun beds but the restaurant tables are out there too and I did see someone sunbathing while others were eating. No kettle in the rooms but you can pay 1.5 euros daily or 10 euros deposit and 2 euros daily (depending on who you ask at reception) to have a kettle and cups.

Not good but not too bad.

Room was ok. Clean towels every day and they mmade the bed but didn't change sheets. Room did not look like the pictures and the view from the balcony was shocking. No point having a balcony! TV didn't work for 3 days and we reported it at least 2 to 3 times each day. When it finally did work they wanted a fee to watch it! Internet fee also. Never had to pay for tv and Internet before. This is supposed to be a 3 star hotel but the reception staff are miserable. Every person we spoke to didn't smile. In the coffee lounge there was no one serving throughout our 8 days here. TV was never turned on, it was very unwelcoming. Almost like we were intruding on them. I would go back to malta but not this hotel. Breakfast was average. Very busy at all times and some mornings no tables left and we had to share with someone else. They advertise a Jacuzzi on the rooftop. This was empty for days and when they did fill it no one used it, very old and looked awful. Also lots of young students talking in corridors and the sound echos everywhere. In my opinion this hotel needs bringing into the real world and they need to look at it from a customers point of view. It was very clean tho!

The best thing about my stay was...

Going out of the hotel and sight seeing.
