Zoraida Garden and complex
26 June 2006
We have just returned from a week at Zoraida Garden. This is what you can expect.... A hotel in 5 star setting, with a pool that looks like a lake, nice gardens and lots of sunbeds, but get up early for a good spot. Be prepared also to battle with the flies. Insect repellant is essential. If you want a good spot, especially near the kiddies pool put your towels on the sunbed early, everyone else does! The rooms were clean, reasonable sized family rooms, nice terraces and do pay alittle extra for a stunning sea view. It's worth it. However don't expect luxury you've only paid for 3 star!
Bring your granny here, your teenage dughters and your kids, they'll all love it. The entertainment programme is simple but effective. Water aerobics, dancing classes, games on the terrace, some shows andlive music. Your teenage boys should probably walk to the end of the garden to reach the beach(50 meters)the water sports will probably suit them better. There are plenty of English speaking staff and they all work very hard. However this is a tourist class hotel as far as food is concerned. Buffet style, plenty of fruit, salads and veg. Let your kids feast on pizza, fish fingers and sausages you can eat endless chips and pasta, choose from a small selection of meat based dishes and one or 2 local dishes. A nice touch every night is a chef cooking meat or fish and a few extras on a griddle so something fresh, straight from the pan every night
If you like desserts go out and buy them after dinner. You won't be impressed with the Hotels choice. You will however be able to have a nearly English" breakfast every morning or choose from several other options, again not exciting but adequate and catering for Germans, Scandinavians etc with cold meats, cheese etc.
We found this to be a very well situated hotel with impressive communal areas, beautiful reception etc and all the components for a really good holiday for couples and families. With a bit of refurbishment in the bedrooms and a review of their catering they could compete at a 4 star level.
