Oh I must be getting old

23 October 2008
The Windmills was very clean. Unfortunatly there was no room service Sunday and Wednesdays apart from that the sheet were clean, towels every couple of days. The only thing was we were near the bar area and the music was in competition with the rest of the area. So after 1.00 am was the time it went off then there were drunks and people talking loudly whilst walking back to thier hotels elswhere. So it was a bit of a disturbed night for me. Hoggis bar was brilliant and gave you a very good welcome and a cheap pint of Keo.

We arrived at Windmills early hours on Sunday 11th August 2007, upon arrival we had left our passports on the coach, the man on reception called immediately and our passports were brought to us immediately. The room was basic but clean, clean towels and beds made every day. Great entertaiment on an evening overall great time. Really helpful and polite staff would definitely go again.

40 and rising - white heat

27 July 2007
We spent 2 weeks in the windmills 23/6 to 6/7. have never experienced anything like the heat, 40 plus rising to 47 deg on the friday. apartments basis but clean. could do with a lick of paint. entertainment was enjoyable, full marks to the lovely amie for trying very hard every night, a better singer than some of the acts. family run apart's, who could not do enough for you. every request dealt with quickly. resort very enjoyable, just enough of everything, bars, restaurants. beach very private and lovely, safe. people very friendly. did complain about building site work behind us, and offered to move us immediately. food in apartment lovely. also, try the jolly waiter rest (thank you very much). windmills, bring back john the irish barman, he was brilliant. napa nights gain was your loss. the knicker bush below our apartment was unusual, wondered who they belonged to, then again maybe they just grew there. get up early if you want a sun bed. as pool side fills up very quickly. everything within easy reach. stay away from chinese rest., cypriot chinese, i don't think so. silver jewelry a steal, great bargains. try the 2 pound shop in protaros centro, as good as any market. also, on main road outside protaros centre, the best off licence you will ever find. prices compared to dublin, lt whiskey eur 15, vodka e10, gin 2 for 1 e 10. lady thought we were alcoholics. not much for children in windmills apart from pool, but our 11 year old became a mermaid by the end of the holiday. would we go back, oh yes definately. loved it. would recommend it just for the sheer relaxation of the place. and our very lovely night porter, who my wife drove crazy.

Review of Windmills

It was our first time in Protaras and we would all definitely go back again. Windmill apartments are very basic - but they do the job. Our air con didn't work for the first 2 days but it got sorted out really quickly. Is really good atmosphere at Windmills both during the day and evening - everyone is really friendly. Bar was always busy and entertainment was generally good. Girls - beware of George the Lothario who can be over friendly with the English girls!!!

well where shall I start - we arrived at Windmills about 11.00pm on Saturday 23rd June 07 and was given our keys to our apartment which we discovered was next to a large building site, we was told by the staff that they had an agreement with the builders that they would not carry on building - this turned out to be a lie because on Monday at 06.00 the builders started work and carried on all week. the apartment was clean but very basic, despite paying for air conditioning we found it was not working, also our Kettle was not working, I would like to say once we pointed this out the two items were fixed quickly. the beach which is 5mins walk is very nice. and the swimming pool at Windmills was clean. my over all comment is the complex needs an overhaul which could put the star rating to 4 star and be really nice. I would not give the complex a 3 star rating at the moment it is more like a 2 star. I must say I did enjoy the only meal i did eat there. Glenn & Jo from Reading

Today SUNDAY 01 July 2007. We arrived back late last night and Pat and I would dearly like to thank all at Windmills for putting up with us. Nothing was too much for them. We did'nt have a cool time far from it was a Heatwave from day one temperatures in the 40s Thanks to Windmills staff and the loverly Veronika to whom we spoke a lot during our meals there. She works some long hours and in that heat always smiling well done. To GEORGE and Ami for the entertainment. The bar staff were brilliant they knew what we drank and a quick nod and our drinks were there before us. Accommodation is more than adequate The fridge worked overtime in our apartment keeping all our liquids cool Milk Beer and Wine very handy for freezing drinking water in bottles to take with you on those long hot days. The pool cleaner who at 7:30 each morning cleaned the pool a big thank you. The cleaners / house maids the lady allocated to our apartment was very good she did'nt speak English nor us Greek but we understood each other and had a good laugh together. Overall the fortnight we stayed at Windmills we could not fault...We will miss you all Thank You - hope to see you all soon........

we stayed at the windmills on 16 June 2007 there was 5 in our party so had x2 1 bed room apartment's...the rooms was clean but could do with a bit more items such as a broom to sweap the sand from the beach and dish cloth to wipe the side down and not that it bothered us as we eat out but there would not be a lot of items to cook with if you did..we asked for a iron and there was not one.
must say that we did have a great time and the staff was great but i dont think there is any need to reserve table's for some guest who give more away thay others..
Amie the compare and singer needs to be renewed as she is not very good at any and the time she went into the hypnotst show was the worst joke i have ever seen..come lads im sure you dont think that we belive she was nuder the spell as she does the same every weeks and its not good.....
over all i must say that we did enjoy our self's 100/%

REVIEW OF WINDMILLS

07 January 2007
15 of us travelled to Cyprus for my Sister In Law's wedding August 2006 -  all had apartments and studio's at the Windmills.  I can honestly say that if i travelled the whole world over i don't think i would find such a fantastic place, which was made special by the owners (George & family)and staff (Titch, Adi, fish, raffiel etc) you know who you all are.  The apartments were much larger than expected and were cleaned every day by very friendly staff.  The entertainment is fantastic but was never too loud so the older ones in the group could get to sleep whilst the teenagers could stay out a little later knowing that they were safe. (I did think that the older teenagers would be off into Ayia Napia but they loved the Windmills so much they never moved from it day or evening as the poolside was another source of entertainment.
The resturant served fantastic food and again ,nothing was too much trouble.  Penerra is in it self beautiful only a short walk to the most fabulous beeches.  Make sure you get to go on the many boat trips on offer.
I would recommend the Windmills to anyone wanting a fantastic holiday with in easy reach to all accompanied by the warm, friendly and family oriented Cypriot people.

We only stayed in Protaras at the Windmills for one night as we spent the majority of our holiday in Limmasol. We were amazed at the size of the apartment as we were expecting a studio and got a 1 bedroom apartment! It was huge. The kitchen was clean and tidy and had a fridge, small stove, kettle and some plates, cups etc. The bathroom was clean and tidy and had towels, toilet roll and soap. The bedroom was also clean and tidy - twin beds with sheets and a warmer sheet. You could use the airconditioning but at an extra charge. There was a living room area with two long wooden (with padded covers) seats/settees which led onto a small patio with a plastic table and two chairs which was nice. We were right near reception and the bar but that didn't disturb us too much. The bar had a lot of entertainment - live music, dj and karaoke! We didn't use the pool or restaurant so we can't comment. The shop was very good and stocked alot of the essentials and souveniers. We would go back there again as everything is in walking distance and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from if you don't want to stay in the Windmills. The beach isn't too far away (about 10 minute walk) and the people are friendly. A good bar I would recommend is Fools and Horses! They play episodes of Only fools and horses and have themed cocktails which are lovely! Protaras is very touristy but enjoyable. for self catering I would highly recommend the Windmills.

I worked for Windmills in the season of 2006 and had the time of my life.  I have never met such a lovely welcoming family.  They were my family for 6 months and always looked out for me.  The other staff were excellent especially fish and alex who were like a brother and sister to me.  The rooms are excellent and are thoroughly cleaned every day.  The entertainment is the best in Pernera and the live singer SAMY IS THE BEST. I love u all x x x

i return to pernera, cyprus regularly. if i dont stay at windmills i am very close by and visit them regularly. the accomodation is clean, well managed but importantly prime location for everything you will need on a holiday. the staff are SUPERB, esp Polis and George. they make you very welcome and at home. i never feel out of place there or indeed cyprus as a whole (being a single female traveller). it is so safe there, the crime rate is zero (except caused by other holidays makers) pernera is quieter than ayia napa and protaras but they are close enough to get to for a few pence on the bus or 3 quid taxi. entertainment in windmills is regular (and good) impersonators, quiz, dj etc. facilities are great for adults and kids with a sport lounge, bar and restaurant. beaches are the best i have ever found just a few minutes walk on the flat to a number of different coves. i will and do recommend everyone to windmills and pernera - get there at least once!

The accomadation was clean and basic with fridge, crockery &cutlery. The maids came daily to clean. If i was being picky my "special friend" who i travelled with a tv in the corner of the room for those pottering about moments would have been ideal and the birds nest thats had developed on our balcony caused a regular mess on the balcony floor and furniture.
All that i would rate the acoomadation to be of excellent standard and its biggest plus is its location closed to a taxi rank(£5 to Protaras,£10 Aiya Napa, £30 from airport) and Moped Hire(£8 per day), local bars(£1 per pint) with regular entertainment)) supermarket, and 10mins away from the most beautiful beaches in cyprus.

Review of 'WINDMILLS'

19 October 2005
We were attending our niece's wedding and stayed in the Windmills the third week in September. Also there were two other couples, members of my wife's family.
When we checked in, everything was in good order. The apartment was roomy and clean. Beds were not the most comfortable but they were adequate. One hint: take showers in the evening. The hot water is supplied by solar panels and is hot in the early evening but just warm in the early morning. This is true anywhere you go in Cyprus, not just at the Windmills.
We found out that air conditioning is not, normally, part of the room rate. It costs an additional 3 pounds per day. There was some confusion as to whether it was included in the rate we paid through the agency but, after a couple of visits to the front desk, it was straightened out I certainly recommend taking the air conditioning: it gets pretty hot there in September!
The pool was delightful!  Well maintained and clean, it was very pleasant to take a refreshing dip as the day was ending.
When they say it is a short walk to the beach, they are being accurate.  The beaches are beautiful, the water is clear and there are plenty of umbrellas and lounge pads for rent.
Not being night owls, we did not appreciate the very loud entertainment from the bar across the street continuing to 0200 each night. That is not a fault of the Windmills; just a problem with location.
Where I have nothing but praise, is for the staff there. I appreciated that their English was excellent (my Greek is nonexistent) and they were anxious to help.  The Managing Director, Andreas Moulazimis, and I had a number of pleasant conversation while I was there and I found him to be very interested in making our stay as pleasant as possible.
There is also a well stocked store within the main building for things like groceries, etc. I recommend it!
All in all our stay was pleasant. It is not a four star hotel but, as a temporary apartment while away from home, more than adequate.

Windmills was a fantastic complex made up of small apartment blocks. They put on great entertainment every night which included Elvis, Kylie, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra (all impersonators of course!) and also a hypnotist show which was very funny. The staff were extremely friendly, the owner even saw us on a walk back from the main strip and gave us a lift back to save our legs (mainly mine). The pool was spotless and well maintained, there were plenty of sunloungers and chairs around the pool (all free of charge) with lilo's for everyone's use too. There is a poolside bar for drinks and snacks. There is also a shop associated with it with entrance by the pool for cigarettes, small gifts and many food requirements. We did not use the gym/sauna so can't comment on those. There is a video games room alongside the main bar area for the kids which allowed you to keep an eye on them. (my son was not on this trip but I would consider another stay at Windmills happy in the knowledge that my son would be happy with the facilities for his age (12). There was also a small play area for toddlers which was on grass and consisted of small climbing and play apparatus. There was also caged birds on the grounds which were not noisy or sociable (obviously not bi-lingual!!). I thinks i've covered most of it, the room was pleasant, ideal for what we wanted which was minimal occupancy as most of our time was by the pool and in the bars. You can get to the main strip of Protaras for £4 cyprus money and the taxi rank is a few metres down the road. Plenty of gift shops around Windmills and bus stop right outside taking you to other main areas. We did not use the public transport during our stay.  A REALLY FANTASTIC PLACE!!!!
