Wonderful Waldorf

16 April 2008
I was not disappointed with anything in this hotel. We booked a superior room and had a lovely ,large, modern room. It was on the 15th floor and not the best of views but beleive me I did not have time to gaze out of the window. The hotel is old fashioned but very elegant and the staff are second to none. Don,t be put off by these bad reveiws as this is definitely not how it is.

'Waldorf Astoria' - No Bang for the Buck

19 December 2006
With all the reputation that follows Waldorf Astoria, I expected high living with a lot of courtesy from the staff.  What I instead found was poor service with a lack of respect towards guests.  The bellhops always seemed expectant for tip, while the attendants at check-in were so arrogant one would think they were smelling something bad during their shift.  Our "deluxe" suite was musty, as though the carpet had not been changed for 30 years, and room service -- direly needed for hungry late-arrival travelers -- was terribly slow (that it was expensive is pointless to mention).   Unless you are getting a free room at the Waldorf, take my advice: opt out.

'Excuse me sir, can I help you'. How many times do you get asked as though someone really wanys to help. At the Waldorf Astoria, New York "all the time".
The first thing that you see is the biggest bunch of flowers in existence, smack in the middle at the top of the marble stairway.
Into the foyer, which has more quality wood than the Mayflower did. Wood and more marble make up The Reception, with a vast amount of help and comfort everywhere.
Proably the best bit was what was a bed that could sleep the The Seven  Dwarfs and Snow White.(along with a few others. Eight feet square of bed and a TV in a cupboard that was almost a cinema.
By the way I did,nt manage to count all the lifts.
Enjoy when you go there, right on Park Avenue.

Review of ' THE WALDORF ASTORIA'

I'M 23 YRS OLD AND ALWAYS WANTED TO STAY IN A GRAND HOTEL WHEN I VISITED NEW YORK FOR THE FIRST TIME.SO THATS WHY I CHOSE THE WALDORF BUT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST I STAYED IN A STANDARD ROOM ON FLOOR NINE.THE ROOMS WERE OLD AND REMINEDED ME HOW A ROOM WOULD LOOK IN THE 1980'S, BREAKFAST WASNT INCLUDED. THE LOBBEY AREA WAS QUITE NICE AND I DID FIND THE SERVICE VERY GOOD BUT TO BE HONEST I FEEL THAT MAYBE THIS HOTELS AIMED MORE AT THE OLDER END OF THE MARKET, I WOULDNT STAY HERE AGAIN.EVEN THOUGH THIS HOTEL ISNT CENTRALLY LOCATED THERE ARE PLENTY OF SHOPS TO VISIT AROUND AND YOU COULD EASILY JUMP IN A TAXI.

I have always wanted to stay here and now I have - I wouldnt again.  Our room on the 9th floor was basic, with a very small bathroom. For the price there are much better options. Breakfast was included and it was a crush each morning - they really squeeze as many people into their restaurants as possible.  Jan 05
