Dont go to this hotel if you have kids

15 June 2008
We were told this was a nice family hotel. It is not. We had 3 stag parties and a hen party staying and it was bedlam. Do not go if you have kids. The rooms were dirty and incredibly basic (3 x keys must be 1 star in the UK). I doubt this will get posted but if it does and you still want to go to this hotel and have kids, just check how many stag parties or groups of british lads will be there, otherwise just go to Blackpool and save yourself the flight. Worst holiday ever. We checked out early in the end. Good luck !

We have just arrived back from 10 days at the waikiki apartments they were basic but clean, cleaner came in every day which was really good, we were advised we couldn't check in until 1400 but we had an early flight and arrived at the apartment about 1100 no problem our room was ready and we checked straight in which is really unusual. Our toaster in the room had seen better days and there was no way I would of used it asked at reception and by the time we got back to the room that night we had a brand new toaster, pool was cleaned every day. We really enjoyed this accommodation but be aware as we were leaving a stag party of 37 lads had checked in so although it was quiet in may i would not stay here any later in the year with young children, on last day we had a late flight they have a locked luggage room and a locked shower room which was brilliant to use as there was a seperate shower and toilet and plenty of room.

Good value for money

I have stayed twice in October, once with the girls and for a week with my family (including my 2 yr old). The rooms are basic but clean and tidy, the maids are regular and friendly and for self catering apartments I dont think you could get much better, the pool is lovely (a right suntrap) and you have the use of the hotel over the road - we took the little one to the mini disco every night which she loved. it was quiet which suprised me as the centre of magaluf is only 10 mins walk away, palma nova beach and magaluf beaches are both beautiful. after seeing all the uncovered TV progames I was delightfully suprised how clean and family orientated the place was. I have booked to go again .

The reviews I read before booking were spot on. The apartments are in an ideal situation between Magalluf and Palma Nova beaches, are easily accessible to each, yet far enough away from the nightlife to get a good night's sleep. The rooms were clean and maid service was daily with towel changes as required. I stayed for 6 nights with my 15 year old daughter and her friend and they slept in the twin-bedded room whilst I had the sofa bed in the living area. The kitchen was basic- 2 rings and a fridge with limited cooking pots but it did have a toaster and a fantastic kettle . There was constant hot water and the shower was great. There was only one socket in each room and the electricity went off when you took your key from the slot near the door. So don't think your phone etc is charging when you are out! The pool is nice and big and quite private and was not too busy when we stayed there. We looked at the Hotel Hawaii pool and it was heaving, so we gave it a miss. The bar at the hotel was like a madhouse but it was half-term so lots of families with young children seemed to be enjoying it. The surrounding area has some reasonable supermarkets, especially handy for buying water. The British Jakiton supermarket changes sterling at a decent rate and as little as you need. The one-way system makes car parking tricky but you can always park on the top of the Torrenova area if you don't mind a few minutes walk. I would definitely recommend these apartments and booking with Alpharooms went without a hitch.

Review of 'WAIKIKI APARTMENTS'

25 August 2006
the accommodation was basic and clean (maid service everyday). Each apartment had its own control for the air conditioning (as there in August couldn't have managed without it). Although at top of a steep hill not far to numerous bars and restaurants and 200/300 yards to nearest beach. Nice large swimming pool, open till late (9am - 8pm). All staff very friendly and spoke English. Half board option was taken at Hawaii Hotel, just across the road. Buffet for breakfast and dinner, plenty to choose from, staff constantly bring more food out (chips seemed to be very popular as they were served nearly every night).

Review of 'WAIKIKI APARTMENTS'

22 August 2006
The accommodation was basic but adequate, although we did have to give it a clean on arrival. The staff were fantastic very pleasant and always willing to help. The pool is large and clean, but as the apartments became bussier the pool got dirtier and wasn't cleaned. The apartments are in a great location only two minutes walk from the beach however they are situated too close to Magaluf and as a result are used by groups of teenagers who are very noisy when going out and coming home (usually about between 4 and 7 in the morning). For this reason This accommadadtion is not suitable for families with young children and why we have given it a low rating.

Review of 'WAIKIKI APARTMENTS'

14 August 2006
Just came back from a one week stay at the Waikiki Apartments.  I went with my husband and sixteen year old son.  The position of the apartments was excellent.  I wasn't sure it would be when I had read some other people's reviews.  5 minutes to the beach and 5 minutes to the nightlife.  Did not use the facilities of the hotel opposite although it looked very nice.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  The room was adequate for our needs.  It was cleaned regularly and towels changed everyday.  The pool was a decent size and although I preferred to go to the beach it never seemed to be over full considering it was the height of the season.  Only had a problem with noise on the last night when a group of german teenagers seemed to be having a bit of a party in the apartment below. There was a good selection of people in the apartments from various different countries.  All three of us had a very enjoyable holiday.  There were plenty of restaraunts and bars close by and they catered for all ages, and a 2 small supermarkets just outside the apartments.  It was my first time staying in Alpha Rooms and I will be using them again.

Review of 'WAIKIKI APARTMENTS'

24 July 2006
Really nice apartments, quiet basic but clean. Staff friendly and always helpful. In a great location, right in-between palma nova and magaluf which have 2 gorgeous beaches and lots of bars. Only slight issue with the aparments would be the groups of lads and gals who blasted their music out until the early hours of the morning & seemed to slam their doors a lot - not too much of a problem for us being out late but felt sorry for the families with children.
Pool area was huge compared to other large hotels nearby, and seemed fairly clean, but did get rather crowded by mid-afternoon.
Loads of nice restaurants - would recommend The boat house, nice views and lovely food.
If I ever go back to Magaluf I'd certainly consider staying again.

Review of 'WAIKIKI APARTMENTS'

02 June 2006
Well positioned apartments which were clean, quiet and very good value. The rooms consists of a seperate bedroom with twin beds, a lounge/dining area which has a sofa bed (ideal for two kids)and a kitchenette with limited pots and pans etc. The apartment was cleaned dailey with fresh towels provided when required. The air conditioning was ok if a little low powered. The shower was fantasic which was suprising as you usually get a dribble but this blasts the tan off you!!
The pool was freezing and is unheated and the little pool bar has good snacks etc with a very chilled out bar man!

We had no problem with noise from surrounding areas and would recomend these apartments.

One down side was the limited parking if you hire a car but on street parking was available within a few minutes walk. As taxis from the airport are 40 euros each way the a car at 110euros a week is a good idea and you can then go up the western coast road which has amazing views and lots of traditional tapas bars to stop off at.

For the price you couldnt ask for any better! Very close to Magalluf, if you want night life, but it situated in a quiet area, with literally 5min walk to the beach.  Its sister Hotel Hawaii, was also very nice, although didnt spend too much time there as the Waikiki, had a bigger pool! the staff were all good at english also. Would def go again!!

This was a very good holiday, The hotel is well situated if you are fit and able as the the hotel is in a hilly area. It was a few minutes walk from the busy shopping and bar area of Magaluf and a short stroll to the quieter side of Palma nova.  The hotel staff were very friendly, the rooms and pool area were clean. The food was good and varied. I would recommend this hotel.
For shopaholics I would recommend a bus ride to Palma, easy to get there, Fabulous shops !!
