24 April 2013
We are recently back for a 3 night stay in the Vila gale amphalius hotel, I had noted it was a 40th birthday & they upgraded our room and left fruit and discount vouchers for the bar in our room. The rooms are very spacious and sea view rooms had a very large balcony. All the staff very friendly and helpful. This is our 3rd time staying in this hotel and will no doubt be back as it is so central to the marina, restaurants and direct access to the beach.

WE WERE CLAY SHOOTING AND CHOSE THE HOTEL ONCE MORE
24 October 2012
The hotel was everything it has been on each of our stays there before. The buffet breakfast cooked food is rather tepid and the coffee seemed rather bitter compared to previously, but the fruit and breads were good as always.
We were upgraded into two room suites, because our rooms weren't ready on arrival, and this was very pleasant indeed.
The best thing about my stay was…
The upgrade

Autumn sun and fun getaway
20 October 2012
Service was excellent. Hotel seemed full yet no problems with finding sun loungers. Breakfast varied choice, sufficient enough. Coffee not the best, but as expected. Room was adequate, would have liked ore storage, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom good size with power shower over bath. Pool a tad cold but ok once you got in. Hotel location excellent, 5 mins walk into harbour where numerous cafes, bars and restaurants. Beach across a road, gorgeous with beach bars for lunch and early evening drinks, watching sunset. Little beach bar further up to left was great and welcoming, opposite crown plaza. Casino next to hotel, not stuffy, welcoming, can go just to watch, drinks really cheap!
Only would say ,majority of guests were male golfers but no problem as most over 40.
The best thing about my stay was…
Relaxing, clean hotel, great location

One of the best hotel stays ever
19 September 2012
A friend and I had booked a room without a balcony but with a request in the hope we might have one on arrival. On first arriving we were told unfortunately there were no balcony rooms left but please come back tomorrow and we will see what we can do. We didn't get a balcony room we got a junior suite - first floor, pool facing with sea view and lounge, dining area, kitchen, dressing room and a shower so powerful it hurt!! The staff at this hotel could not possibly be more accommodating, smiling and friendly and we would go back without hesitation. The breakfast for me was not the best but it was adequate and there would be something for everyone but that is the only negative I can think of. The location was great too despite the walk to the marina but on the plus side the beach bar is one of the best I have ever been to. We will return without question and be brave enough again to ask for an upgrade. One last tip - if you find a reasonable transfer to and from the airport then do that as we paid €65 for our round trip including tip which was quite steep really although it was a lovely Merc for the return!
The best thing about my stay was…
The upgrade to a suite and the staff going the extra mile

Great Location. Good size rooms, great balcony and clean hotel. Staff friendly. Food good quality with 3 main options for dinner. Overall a good hotel which we would return to and reccomend to friends. Our only criticism is that the Sunbeds could do with replacing. Note - the hair dresser has hidden costs (beware shampoo is not included in a blow dry and the cost went from 17.50 to 27 euros)
The best thing about my stay was…
The large balcony which overlooks the beach.

For.....right next to the beach, short stroll to the marina and restaurants/shops. Room ok, breakfast to suit most tastes. Plenty of scope for lazing around the pools. Staff friendly and helpful.
Against....the thud, thud, thud of the bass from the club next door until 1am, 4am on one night, if you happen to be on that side of the hotel. Especially annoying when you have to be up early the following morning to catch a flight.
The best thing about my stay was…
The perfect weather

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Our room was small but clean and tidy everyday, would have loved a room with a balcony! The breakfast was good . Would recommend this hotel for couples only really not much happening for kids, but it suited us perfectly as we were on a 4 day holiday for a wedding so we could chill and relax by the pool and could look across at the beach. Bliss!
We really enjoyed our stay and would return again.

Everything we wanted.....
09 May 2012
Just returned from a 3 day stay here. Although Hotel is a little dated it was fantastic. Rooms were ready earlier than expected and were really clean; bathroom had complimentary toiletries that were replaced every day and the hairdryer was a bonus.
The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very good too, buffet style from 6.30 till 10.30am.
Would definitely stay here again as location was fab, only a 5 min walk to Marina where there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from.

Good hotel, good room with great view
25 April 2012
Pleasant hotel right by the beach and close to marina, great view from balcony of our beach facing room, not noisy (we went april) couple of decent pools with loungers, good bar service, room well appointed except no tea making facilities! Breakfast caters to most tastes though I did dislike making tea myself from a machine which dispenses hot water into a cup with tea bag in! Staff were helpful and polite. Several good restaurants within easy walking distance and menu at hotel looked OK though we didnt try the evening meals.
The best thing about my stay was…
Getting away from it all and not needing to cater

Nice hotel - great position within Vilamoura
23 April 2012
Just come back from a 3 night stay at the Vila Gale Ampalius - 4 couples in early 40's. Staff really friendly throughout the hotel. Rooms nice - comfy beds and pillows - wardrobes bit dated and no coffee and tea making facilities as stated - but we did ask for them and they gave us a travel kettle and two glasses! We took our own coffee and sugar so made use of the kettle but dont be expecting a tea/coffee tray. Hotel is right on the beautiful beach and has a lovely bar area and the breakfast is fab and is served 6am-10.30 so caters for all. Be warned a bottle of water in the bar is 3 Euros so buy some in the supermarket down the road where it is 25c! We used Also chocolate and sweets very expensive along Marina so purchase in the Supermarket where it is generally half the price. We used the Gym and spa facilities all great and the hotel supply clean pool towels everyday at reception if you ask, so no need to lug big beach towels out there with you. We had bar food in the hotel and again nothing to complain about. We did not try the restaurant. Vilamoura itself is clean and tidy and has a good choice of restaurants (some very expensive) and bars with a mixture of people and ages. Would stay here again.

Location of hotel and relaxing

Very friendly staff at reception and around the hotel except in the restaurant. Barely got a hello or a smile from the waiters in there. Plenty of selection of food at the self service buffet. Room was fine, cleaned daily and fresh towels every day. Great location beside the beach and 2 minutes walk from the marina. Overall a nice experience in the hotel - but drinks were expensive in the bar - €7 for a measure without a mixer.

Perfect location but accommodation description a little deceptive
18 November 2011
Vila Gale was perfectly located next to a beautiful sandy beach and just around the corner from the Marina which had a selection of very good restaurants and an offer for all tastes.
Regarding the sleeping arrangements were were quite disappointed as although we had a junior suite we were all in the same room (3 people) bedroom/lounge. The positive was the additional kitchenette we had. Having a 4 year old this was really helpful.
The kiddies pool was surrounded with grass which was a real bonus as we were not concerned about him slipping on tiles or concrete however there are three graduations actually in the kids pool which many people slipped on until they got used to it.
The buffet and evening meals were very good quality and the choice was superb however the service at the pool area was severely lacking at busy times.
The best thing about my stay was…
weather and food
