Good accommadation
19 October 2008
We stayed at the Vila Gaivota for six nights in October 2008. We booked a one bedroom apartment, but were given a two bedroom appartment on arrival. The accommadation was very spacious and clean, although could of done with an update. The location was excellent, although you do need a car to get around, this was not a problem for us as we always pick up a car at the airport when we holiday in Portugal. We did find that the water pressure in bathroom in double bedroom was very low, and you were unable to run a shower in both bathrooms at the same time. This was not a problem for us as there was only two of us, but could be a problem if staying with a family. We would highly reccomend the Vila Gaivota if you enjoy a holiday in a peacefull beautiful little resort, with fantastic scenery. We would certainly go back and book this accommadation in the future.

Vila Gaivota Review
25 August 2008
Stayed 1week August 08 1 bedroom apartment. Clean and very nice location with lovely view of beach over cliff/hill. 10 mins walk to lovely beach (we went to 6) or 5 mins down rugged path. Small supermarket and nice pools, but was not as cleaned compared to other hotels we stayed in. Also, no kettle or hair-dryer and no air-con so children had mosquito bites.
Recommend car hire as it is far from the supermarket-4 km and everywhere else. Wet water-Slide & Splash 15 mins by car, 18 adult 14.50 children good but 45 mins queus. Stayed all day & had 8 slides.
Nice hilly location to unwind, with washing machines and iron+board. Bring insect bites cream. Prepared to wait, we arrived at 2.00 p.m apartment was not ready until 5.00 p.m. eventhough had emailed 1 week before.

Vila Gaivota not too bad
30 May 2008
The pool and bar area are perfectly nice and the lunch we had on arrival very pleasant. We were however very disappointed with the apartment we had for the night. The kitchen wasnt great - no kettle and a mouldy toaster and the whole place stank of smoke. The sofabed wasnt comfortable and infact had to be repaired before use and we were provided with only half a toilet roll for 4 of us. The balcony was tiny. It may of course be that we were given a substandard apt as we were only there for 1 night and it was cheap.

Just OK

Spacious and large - great if you need plenty of room - beware of the grumpy staff at breakfast - totally ruined it for us - really nice girls at reception but hard to get served if you're looking for a cool drink in the afternoon - be prepared to wait!!!
We had been allocated a sea view and had previously checked it out on an earlier trip - on arrival we didn't get our sea view!!!

Review of 'VILA GAIVOTA'
21 March 2007
Very spacious and clean accommodation with own 'front' door. Had huge outside terrace with sunbeds and dining area and fabulous view of the ocean. Very quiet location making good venue for total chill, reading etc.
Visitors from England, Germany, France and Canada.
Friendly and helpful staff on site - basic bar and restaurant service and whilst a local bus service runs to Portima, a car is essential for getting out and about.
