Bloody fantastic

The Victoria Palace Hotel; breath taking and magnificent are the only words that I can use to describe it.
It’s gold framework shimmers delicately in the liquid sun, adding to the warmth of its welcome. Over the bridge and the crystal water to the safari themed reception where the chandelier and the two sided staircases overwhelm your senses, it’s beautiful. You really do have to see it to believe it. The gold and black interior halls lead you to the spa, the sun bed rooms, the gym and the pool room all circulated around the safari bar. It’s lively atmosphere makes it impossible to resist.
Back out and down to the other side of the bridge is the Victoria Palace Residence beach, your feet simply sink into the golden sands leading into the refreshing sea. Looking up you can now see the outstanding view of the whole hotel, the hotel that in all truth and honesty really is a palace that overwhelms the beauty of any place that you have ever seen before.
The domes at either side are the two mirrored lifts that escalate you to the rooms that can only be described as luxurious and grand; with balconies that offer outrageously wonderful sights. At meal times the restaurant had simply tantalising ranges of unique Bulgarian cuisine to offer, either to eat in the luxury of the restaurant itself or on the hotel promenade with delicately curtained sofas and candle lit tables.
The staff simply add to the pleasure of your stay, always willing to help and offer advice on what other faultlessly wonderful sights that Bulgaria has to offer. This hotel is far from what would be expected for the holiday destination that is typically described as the British seaside resort. The Bulgarian staff at the hotel were residents there and were always taking into consideration the thoughts of others. This added to the homely environment of the hotel that all the guests there were proud to call home for the duration of their stays.

Review of 'Victoria Palace'
20 August 2006
We are a couple aged 32 and 36. We visited V P on the 25/07/06 for 1 week. On reading so many bad reports about this hotel I must admit I was in 2 minds wether to book it or not but my partner and I decided that we would go anyway despite the write ups. When we pulled up at the back of the hotel it looked tremendous, the reception staff were very pleasant and straight there to help with the cases to our room. The hotel is so glamarous inside and out it certainly does look like a palace. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable with excellent air con, although we didn"t get a sea-view like we requested it didn"t matter as the hotel was truly magnificent throughout. The cleaners are there 24hrs alway"s cleaning the lifts, windows and around the pool, the bedrooms are cleaned every day and clean towels are left. There are not enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel but every other hotel has probably got the same problem. Most of the beds are gone by 7.30 and you can"t leave your towels as the life guard will move them which can be a bit entertaining when people come back and have a go at the life guard. The pools are brilliant for kids and adults with 1 having a swim up bar designed as a boat half in the pool and half in the hotel. The hotel does not have any entertainment at all for kids there is a pianist every night and there was also a fashion show 1 night whilst we were there. The majestic next door has entertainment and looks very nice too. There was a good choice of food which we enjoyed most of but the food on the bulgarain nights wasn"t up to much. We ate in every night avoiding the busiest time so we never had a problem getting a table. If you eat between 5.30-6.30 or 8.30-9.30 in peak season you get a free glass of wine but you must ask for it. The cakes are unbeleivable. If you can"t get away with the food go to Friends at the side of Victoria Palace the food is really nice there and they have everything imaginable on the menu. The chicken kebab"s and the jacket potatoe"s which you can buy on the stall"s are amazing it"s so cheap you can"t grumble. The spa there is 2nd to none try a massage in the turkish bath it"s so relaxing and it"s a fraction of the cost what you would pay in an English spa and the massages or much better. We had no problems with any of the staff in this hotel we were always greeted with a smile, just remember they work 12hr shifts for pittence they are bound to get down at times no matter what you think a smile hurt

Review of 'VICTORIA PALACE'

First impressions of the hotel were very good. The reception area is beautifully decorated with African,Indian,Egytion and Turkish themes all mixed in together but balancing well. There is a very impressive chanderlier as you walk in. There are four bars. The safari bar which combines the swim up cocktail bar, which has a perspex floor over a bamboo sand and shells arrangement. The bar is a ship wreck that has its bow indoors and the remainder in the pool. Above is the Messamiane Bar on the first floor wich has a balcony area, The pool bar, and the last is the Victory Bar which is supposed to be an Irish bar but has no Irish theme to it and doesn't sell guiness. The staff of the Hotel are all young universaty students types and are clearly not trained in their particular roles. In the Victory Bar is the Hotels only regular entertainment. A keyboard player and singer called Nicolli. He doesn't speak Engish but sings English songs so when he comes across a word he's not to sure of he guesses at how it should be pronouced. This combined with the fact he likes his wine a little too much makes good entertainment listening to some nice songs being murdered. The casino was closed and the Spa is privatley owned. The dinning room appears grand at first sight but we were not allocated a table. It is a self service resturant it can be a real fight at busy times. The food was of a poor mass cooked quality and was cold. The crockery is all chipped. There are dinning room staff but they are unhelpful and only approach you at dinner to offer you somthing to drink. Outside by the pool there are sunbeds and seating area for the pool bar. The pool bar was manned by a barman & one waitress. The cocktail bar was closed because it was too cold, even when it wasn't. In all a disapionting stay. The staff need to be trained, the food is disgusting, the spar overpriced and if its not that good weather there is not much to do. I wouldn't stay here again.

Review of 'VICTORIA PALACE'

The outside of the hotel was beautiful and as you arrived indoors it was also impressive, however as i produced my accomodation voucher to the receptionest she was not impressed and anything but friendly. The room we were allocated faced the beach and initially we were very happy with it, we misplayed the television remote control and when we lifted the bed it was filthy, papers dust and cigaretes (we do not smoke), I went to receptionto complain, also about lack of sunbeds, they lifted their eyes to heaven asked our room number but it was never cleaned, some days we had to go after the chamber maids to get clean towels. No towels were supplied for the beach and pool, and we had to go and buy same. The restaurent was not up to standard, cracked and chipped crockery and some mornings there was not enought cups, if it was busy it was a scramble to get a table, staff did not clean the tables of crumbs and papers and many a morning I had to clean the table with a tissue before I sat down as many others had to do the same, not up to a two star restaurant. We had dinner on two nights and it was so disgusting we paid for dinner outside for the other five days.On closer inspection the hotel needed a good clean.I would never go back.

Review of 'VICTORIA PALACE'
31 August 2005
The Victoria Palace is a splendid looking hotel with a beach front location at the quieter, posher end of Sunny Beach resort. It has a grand entrance and reception area. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the pool and beach, spacious with a good balcony. There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room but it did have a fridge. There were some problems with the room ie shower fixing broken, leaking basin, lack of coat hangers and no extra pillows. After 3 days of requests only the shower got fixed. We gave up on the rest. The bed linen was not changed for the entire week and we had to arue with the cleaner to get more than 2 sets of towells for the family which were expected to last for 2 days. The dining room was adequate, the food very average and unexpectedley the drinks were not cheap. There was no entertainment in the hotel. Sunbeds around the excellent pool facilities were at a premium, and a 7.30am start may gaurantee one. However if you leave them unattended with towells early, the pool attendants did occasionally collect them up. There was little or nothing for teenagers to do at the hotel and boardem quickly sets in. The hotel staff were doing a job and put little more effort in than that. The beach was excellent outside the hotel but for 2 sunbeds and a brolley it was 18 levs for the day. The sea had an abundence of jelly fish but they did not appear to be stingers. The promenade on sunny beach has loads of bars market type stalls and snack bars. The kids ate mainly fron the snack bars not enjoying the hotel food. A kebab or jacket potato was 4 levs. The fake designer gear on sale didn't appear to be of the best quality and it wasn't that cheap. Having walked the length of the resort The Victoria Palace would appear to be one of the best looking hotels. Sunny beach is ideal for a lazy do nothing beach type holiday. Best buy is the local beers in the bars ranging fron about 40p a pint upwards. Local spirits in the supermarkets is £2 a bottle upwards. Sunny beach is no longer the resort where you struggle to spend your money. Beware the taxi drivers they can take your money quicker than anyone.

Review of 'VICTORIA PALACE'
31 July 2005
Just come back from Victoria Palace Bulgaria, 29th July 2005, Hotel was fantastic lovely and clean and decor was 100% unfortunately the food was disgusting to say the least, there are far too many people for the size of the restaurant, its a wonder there wasn't any accidents. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Also the pool was fantastic but unfortunatley you could only get a bed if you were prepared to get up at 7.30am to put your towel out, this meant a trip to the beach as i wasn't prepared to do so not on my holdiays. The hotel owns the sun beds on the beach - but you have to pay for them - no wonder they don't put enough sunbeds around the pool - there are 800 plus rooms and about 100 sunbeds. All in all for the price we paid for the hotel it was a disappointment - we could have gone to America twice and probably still had change. Rating 5 star for interior 1 star for food.

very impresive hotel lovely interior, and very clean and well maintained rooms, the food was a big let down though, we ate outside most of the time though found it very difficult to get good food, the hotel reception staff were always very busy and under pressure so were not very helpfull when making enquires, probably the most impressive hotel in sunny beach but would probably stay elsewhere, if i was ever to go back to bulgaria
