Just as it should be

This hotel is well placed for visiting Amsterdam, and its position opposite the Central Station means that getting there by train from Schiphol really couldn't be any easier. The reception staff are welcoming and friendly; the porters very helpful and the room was superb. The breakfast is very good, with a huge choice of menu to suit all tastes. This is the second time I've stayed at the Victoria and would recommend it to anyone.

Birthday weekend - fantastic

25 April 2007
We had booked this hotel because I had remembered it's location from being in Amsterdam 15 years ago. The location is absolutely suberb, few minutes walk from Red light district and Dam Square. Because it is across from Central Station, all roads lead back to it, so whereever you end up in the city, just jump on a tram marked 'Central Station' and you're back at the Hotel. The staff at the hotel are absolutely superb and couldn't be more friendly. It was my birthday the day after we arrived and the receptionist noticed this on my passport and wished me happy birthday. Our initial room, was nice and a standard hotel room, just what we had expected, however the electric went off in the room several times when we first got there, so we were upgraded free of charge to a suite in the new garden wing. This was absolutely fantastic, with an excellent view. The breakfasts were excellent and on the first night we ate in the brassierie at the hotel and the food was top class. The lobby bar was cool and trendy and no more expensive than anywhere else in Amsterdam. We were meeting Dutch friends in Amsterdam on the Sunday and with the weather being gorgeous, spent the afternoon sitting in the hustle and bustle of Leidseplein, catch the number 1 or 2 tram from in front of Central Station. We ate near Leidseplein on the Sunday and again on the Monday. On the Monday we ate at the Royal Thai restaraunt and this is the best meal we have had anywhere, it could have been in a top class hotel in london. We will be visiting again and staying in this hotel

Wonderful hotel in excellent location. We got train straight from airport to central station and when walking out of station you can see hotel straight ahead and just a few minutes walk.Staff were very friendly and helpful and all spoke excellent english (as does everyone in Amsterdam).Room was very spacious and clean with large bathroom.I would recommend eating in hotel restaurant in the evening as they do a wonderful three course meal for 28 euros and service is excellent. All together a great hotel which I would recommend to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam.

Lovely hotel. Great breakfast selection. Friendly staff. Very poor standard of room cleaning service let it down.

The Hotel is very easy to reach from the Airport you walk through the arrivals lounge at the airport, follow the signs to the train station that is located within the same building as the Airport. Then get the train direct to Amsterdam Central Train Station, the Hotel is situated directly opposite Central Train Station and is located close to all usual amenities. The exterior of the hotel looks old in character however all the mod cons can be found within including a indoor swimming pool and Active club. The room we stayed in was very spacious and clean and room service was prompt, my other half called to request an iron and it was brought up within minutes by a very friendly lady. Both myself and my partner were very pleased in my choice of hotel as the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was everything you would expect from a four star hotel. We will return to this hotel whenever we visit Amsterdam we enjoyed it that much not to mention if you get lost all you need to do is ask how to get to Central Station and you are back at the Hotel.

Right opposite Central Station for easy access from the airport train.  We had 2 rooms, both clean and well appointed.  Despite being on one Amsterdam's busiest streets, we heard no traffic noise.  Excellent breakfast choice from bread and cheese right up to full English. Small swimmimg pool (unusual in an Amsterdam hotel) but good for the kids.  Everything is in easy walking distance and all tram stops are 100m away at the station if you're idle. We've been to Amsterdam 20+ times and the Victoria twice - will be back to both again soon.

Excellent location overlooking Amsterdam's canals and central station. We got the train from the airport and could walk to the hotel from central station. The staff were egar to please and most helpful. We had executive rooms all overlooking the canals. Breakfast was scrumptious. The only flaw ( and this is being very picky) is that the bar closed at 1 a.m.!
