good value
11 June 2008
The hotel was in a great location, room was small but clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful. I got a great rate and found it excellent value for money. the constuction sit opposite was the only disappointment. As a single woman I found the area safe at night. would stay here again

Charming Hotel
04 May 2008
A charming hotel in the old part of Nice. Rooms are small, but ideal for a short visit. The bathroom was spotless on arrival and was cleaned everyday. The only negative was the view of the construction site, but this did not really bother us. I would definately recommend this hotel.

Nice views from the balcony. Very good receptionists, speak very good english even though i tried my best to speak french. Overall, excellent hotel and we will definately stay at the Vendome again. Excellent location, situated in the old part of nice but within walking distance of attractions and local bus station. Breakfast was excellent value and you can even have it delievered to your bedroom. Bedroom was clean with regular change of towells and linen. Receptionists were helpful at all times. Few negatives apart from the view from hotel was of a construction site. Overall very comfortable stay and would recommend.

the vendome hotel is in a good position, about 5mins walk from the sea front and 'old nice'. The room was quite small but the bathroom was a good size and equipped with a hairdryer and nice towels (which were changed daily). All in all good value for money for the price we paid through Alpharooms.

A little treasure
26 September 2006
A clean, comfortable hotel in easy reach of everywhere we wanted to go in Nice. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was good for continental although the dining room is a bit cramped.

Very nice hotel, conveniently located - 10 minutes walk from the beach and other attractions, 2 minutes from shopping zone, and 4 minutes from a shuttle to the airport, situated on a quiet safe street. The interior is really beautiful, not a standard "faceless" hotel. Breakfast was good, staff was helfull and friendly: everyone spoke English (I don't speak French, so for me it was important). The hotel itself, breakfast area and my room were very clean, soap was excellent (different types of unique French soaps), bathroom is nicely equipped. Room is regular size for a European hotel. During my stay there was some hotel renovation but it was not a serious disturbance. I would recommend this hotel to a traveller that is looking for a pleasant affordable French hotel with a "character".

Very nice and charming hotel. The room we stayed had a very high cealing and a a large balcony. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The possibility to park just outside the hotel (€11) is an advantage since it is difficult to find a parkingspace i Nice. The only minor minus is the buffet breakfast that could have been better. Highly recomend the hotel and its location.

Review of 'VENDOME'
19 September 2005
The Vendome hotel is very well situated between the bus station and the train station. It is a converted mansion and some of the rooms are evidently quite different from others depending on whether you get a ' new' or 'original' room. The room we had (105) was very large and ornate. The air con was very efficient. The en suite was a bit odd, like a little cabin in the corner of the room but perfectly adequate if a little cramped. The king sized bed was huge and the balcony exceptionally big. Although it looked on to the street the double glazed doors kept it quiet. The breakfast room is a little cramped but they do room breakfast at no extra cost. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful. they have a haphazard car parking area which looks very disorganised but I'm told that a hotel car park is a luxury in Nice so that's a plus for car travellers. All in all the Vendome is an excellent value hotel. I would go back anytime.

Vendome - not "nice"
18 September 2005
The Vendome was certainly conveniently placed - an easy 10 minute walk to the market, the Old Town, the Promenade des Anglais, the bus station, the shopping centre, etc but did not live up to the comments of the taxi driver who took us from the train station to the hotel. He said "very nice hotel, very nice hotel..." I am sure it was once a very grand house but I did not find its' faded granduer appealing and I certainly was not impressed by our room. I know that French bedrooms can be small but we had to move furniture around to accommodate our luggage and there was very little storage space (no drawers) for two women attemptng to travel light! Had I been on a business trip I would have found the room claustrophobic. On the positive side the room was clean and the bathroom spotless. Overall the hotel was fine as a place to put down your head but not inviting enough to want to spend "leisure/rest" time in.
