Perfectly fine

24 April 2008
4-star? 3-star? Who's to say? For sure though there is nothing at all wrong with this hotel. It's cheap too. I didn't think breakfast was great. Though if you like a cup of coffee and a small choice of breads and spreads, it's perfectly fine. The hotel is a good bit away from the city centre. On average it was 550kr. That's about 17 quid. The trams do a fine job though, as mentioned elsewhere they are near to the hotel.Make sure you know where you want off though. We got taken right to the summit of the city on Line 3, only a very helpful local girl told us how to get back to civilisation... They're free too, I think... Some people had tickets, which they punched on entry to the tram, but most people (99%) came and went as they pleased, including us. We had about 4 different taxi drivers, none tried it on with unrealistic fares. If you get a big guy in a Laguna, you're grand. We got him into the city on our first day, at around 8am and he wanted us to phone him if we needed any more transport. I asked him if he was working late, and he gave me the number and said it was fine. So we called him around midnight that night and he was indeed fine. We had no trouble in Prague, lovely city. Food prices vary greatly, but on average it'll be the same as back home. Finally a word on Alpharooms. This was our 3rd Alpharooms experience and yet again it was 10 out of 10, faultless. I recommend using Alpharooms' taxi transfers from the airport. As i said above, the 6km taxi ride from hotel to the centre was about 17quid. We got our Return Airport Transfers for 38 quid. Nuff said!

Maybe not a 4 star...

28 March 2008
Not sure that this hotel lived up to its 4 star rating but this probably arises from the Czech system of hotels giving themselves a star rating! The room was very big and clean, the single beds were huge although the pillows were really weird and uncomfortable, feather pillows but seemingly with hardly any feathers in them... Bathroom however was great, breakfast was average and don't worry about travelling, the public transport in Prague is fantastic, the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the tram stop or a 1 minute walk to the bus stop. Trams are very regular during the day and run until just past midnight, taxis are also reasonable. Restaurant also worth a mention, food is very good and incredibly cheap in comparison to the city centre so worth eating there when you can.

Value for money

Booked a triple room for a three night stay in Prague. Room adequate and very clean, bathroom would not go amiss in a 5* hotel. The only thing missing from the room are tea/coffee making facilities. Found a couple of OK bars/restaurants close by for good food & cheap beer (22 crowns = 66p for half litre of beer). Travel time from hotel into Prague centre by tram aprox twenty minutes (cost = 26 crowns).
