Absolutely marvellous hotel in a great location. Bars and restaurants very close by but you can't hear any noise on a night. Cleaned daily. Plenty sunbeds. Lovely food in the pool snack bar. Entertainment every night for all ages. All friendly staff. Staff were busy all day tidying, cleaning and keeping the place lovely. Stayed here a few years ago and loved it then. Will definately stay here again.

Just returned from week in Tropical Sol. As a family group of 7 adults and a toddler we booked two 1-bedroom apartments and a studio. Very pleased with all ; very impressed with studio - just two steps down to poolside , lovely terrace equipped with two padded sunloungers etc. Pool area very nice also. the trees provided shelter from the sun (when it decided to appear!) for my husband to smoke his pipe. Lovely poolside cafe with very nice food at very reasonable prices. Yes, no need to mention bakery round the corner - not good for those dealing with raised cholesterol. Missed the sea. Close to Strip which did not impress at all. Nice 20 mins walk to Old Town (3.25 euro taxi ride) which we liked very much, especially restaurants. Just one thing, only one socket in kitchen area which meant unplugging microwave to use toaster. All in all very pleasant stay apart from weather (no fault of Tropical Sol). Would definitely return.

Tropical Sol
25 May 2008
The apartments were clean and basic but provided us with what we needed for a short stay. The pool area was very well looked after and would put some higher graded hotels to shame. The staff were not the greatest but we did not spend much time around the Hotel anyway! Good location about 5 minutes walk to the Strip. All in all it does what it says on the tin, not the best you'll ever stay in but then again certainly not the worst. A standard 3 star.

Excellent accommodation. Well equipped, cleaned almost daily. If it did not suit us to have the apartment cleaned we asked the cleaners to come back the next day. It was no hardship to make your own bed occasionally. The hotel at this time, April was very quiet and there was no entertainment. However there are plenty of bars and restaurants close by. We went to the Old Town one evening where we listened to some great live music. Taxi cost about 4 euros each way. The grounds staff were working very hard to get everything ready for the season.
I would happily stay at the Tropical Sol again.

September 2007
28 September 2007
I stayed in these apartments in 2006 and had no complaints whatsoever. I therefore booked to return this year with my son and daughter. We arrived at the apartments after being up at 3am to get to the airport, very tired and hungry only to be told the apartment would not be ready. The reception staff could not give me a time the apartment would be ready only to tell me the previous occupants dont have to leave until midday, when I explained we were very tired and hungry, he dismissed us and did not have a very nice attitude. As there was no lock up room for our belongings we just had to sit in the reception until our room was ready and i have got to say the attitude of the same man on reception did not change for the whole week. The apartment was very clean and spacious and it was cleaned every day apart from Sunday, but unfortunately the cleaners did not arrive until about 5.15pm on some days, which was very inconvenient because this is the time we wanted to be in the apartment to get ready to go out for our tea and it meant us all sitting on the balcony until they had finished. Also, if you wanted a sunbed you did have to get up at 7.00am to go down and put your towel on. As I did not relish getting up at that time on my holidays we just bought lilos and used them on the grass, however, by the last couple of days there were beds available at about 8.30am. There is a bar in the apartments which does have a karaoke on a couple of nights, but it is not very big and the entertainment is not very good, there is no entertainment for young children at all. Apart from the above these apartments are very clean and spacious the pool area is very good and they are only a short walk to the shops and bars.

Review of 'Tropical Sol'
03 March 2007
We stayed at the Tropical Sol during the month of February. On arrival we were given a ground floor apt which we objected to as we had read about break ins in the Tropical sol before Christmas. They said They were unable to move us to another apt as they were full which we found it difficult to believe as we saw very few people around the complex. The Tropical Sol during February has the majority of the more mature couple. I would not recommend it during the winter months to younger couples or families. The apt was big and clean but we were awoken most mornings at 7.30-8am with work men carrying out renovations directly overhead our apt.We complained about this but got little satisfaction, work continued!!!! It is a 10 min stroll to the "strip" where a variety of shops, bars and restaurants will temp any age of holiday maker. All in all I would give the thumbs up to the Tropical Sol for cleanliness and location but is that enough to make a holiday memorable!?!

Review of 'Tropical Sol'
20 February 2007
We have just returned from a most enjoyable two week stay at the Tropical Sol Apartments in Albufeira. This was our 35th visit to Albufeira over a period of 26 years. We make the pilgimage at least once every year. We have stayed in 18 different establishments in the area over that time and without question the Tropical Sol receives our No. 1 star rating. The best accomodation we have found and had the pleasure of staying in at Albufeira. The Establishment is not too large with 10 studios, 56 one bedroom apartments, and 8 two bedroom apartments. All rooms are a good size, attractively furnished, and have air conditioning. The two bedroom Apartments have two bathrooms All rooms face south and the sun, overlook the pool, and either have a terrace, or a balcony. The kitchens are well equipped. Rooms are cleaned six days a week and towels are changed daily. Sunbeds are plentiful and are sited on a good size grassed area around the pool. Trees give shade for those who prefer it. There is a pool bar serving food and drinks, with a tabled terrace adjacent. During the evening there is a friendly bar available with entertainment some evenings. The bar staff are friendly and efficient. The apartments are about a 5 minute walk from the "strip" where you will find a chemist, various shops, bars, and restaurants. The Tropical Sol has its own courtesy bus which takes clients to the beach or to the old town of Albufeira. A timetable for the bus is obtainable at reception. There are a number of supermarkets available not too distant from the apartments, Marachinos, Plus, with the Modelo hypermarket within 10 minutes walking distance left at the "worm" roundabout. There is a spledid bakery two minutes walk from the apartments, sited left on the road below where you can purchase your fresh morning rolls, and lovely cakes. The reception staff and the maids were all very helpful.Nothing was a trouble. We are going back to Portugal again in October. Guess where we will be staying. Your right, The Tropical Sol Apartments.

Best holiday
02 October 2006
Tropical Sol Apartments were some of the best apartments we have ever stayed in ,They were very confortable and cleaned every day, also clean towels each day and bedding changed three times in our two week stay The staff were very friendly polite and helpful, also the pool was kept very clean.WE cant stay in the sun to long although we like sitting relaxing by the pool these apartments catered for the sun lovers and also for people like ourselves who like some shade. These apartments are in a quiet area but only five minutes from the strip but if you like the quaint old areas you can catch the little road train at the side of the strip down to the old town square were you can get a lovely meal and entertainment. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday cant wait too go back

From the first moment we got there we realised this was exellent choice that we made. The receptionist was very polite, the rooms where large with exellent views of the swimming pool. the location of the Tropical Sol was very good almost central to new parts of Albuferia and the old town of Albuferia. This made to a very good Holiday on the Algarve,

Brilliant holiday, apartments were clean and spacious, great location and pool was great. Reception facility was the only thing that let it down, service was poor and unhelpful. I would still go back though, everything else was perfect.

Go for it - it is a brilliant place
29 August 2006
1st time we booked accommodation/transfer independently via the net. We needn't have worried. From the moment the friendly driver picked us up at the air port in a lovely airconditioned car, dropping us off at the Tropical Sol and picking us up again promptly for our return journey home, everything went smoothly. Tropical Sol is a great place to stay. Accommodation is very spacious, well equipped and clean. The only thing that I would have welcomed was a freezer compartment in the frige, but I suppose one can not have it all! It has a great pool complex including diving board. My husband liked the fact that some trees provided some welcomed shade for him while the rest off us enjoyed the sun. The sun loungers were very comfortable thanks to its mattresses. A free bus by the aparthotel takes you to a superb beach and to the old town and picks you up again during the week, what a great service.... Tropical Sol is ideally situated close to restaurants and a 5 minutes walk will take you to the "strip", the area where restaurants, bars and shops are located. We had a fantastic holiday and will definetly return.

Review of 'TROPICAL SOL'
08 October 2005
We have just enjoyed a two week stay at the Tropical Sol Apartments, Albufeira. The apartments are excellent, all rooms face the good sized swimming pool, sunbeds are on a good sized grassed area. There is a pool bar serving food and drinks. Some of the ground floor rooms have their own large patio area with table, chairs and two sun loungers on it. We were on the second floor, and had a reasonable sized balcony with two chairs and a table and clothes line. The apartments were cleaned every day except Sundays and towels changed daily. There was a bar evenings run by a lovely couple Marco and Rosanne. The apartments were about a five minutes walk to the strip where there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants. You could get the courtesy bus, which ran from the apartments and this went to the beach at about 9.45 in the morning, and returned about 1 or you could get back later at 4.30. The bus also went to the old town at 10 in the morning, where you could either use the beach or shop. There was also the little train (wally trolley) just round the corner from the apartments, this went to the old town we used this a few times, it ran until about 2.45 in the morning. A little too late for us. Just outside the apartments, turn left and there was a small supermarket, a little further a lovely bakery for your fresh morning bread, and lovely cakes. Another supermarket just bear right and turn left, another supermarket. The beach to walk took us about 15 minutes, and it you walk to the old town it took us 30 mins, but not a bad walk. The reception staff all spoke good english. We never had a bad meal anywhere in our two week stay. A real good holiday
