excellent budget hotel!

14 April 2008
Excellent budget hotel, very secure and friendly, room decent and clean. Good location too, can walk to La Rambla in half an hour or so or just a couple of stops on metro. V good price for central Barcelona! Definitely recommended for those seeking a simple secure budget base in Barcelona a good location

Transit Hotel

Good location near the train station. The hotel is a little shabby. The bathroom sink was blocked and leaking and the rooms were very small and basic. Hey it was a budget hotel in Barcelona....What more can you say other than you get what you pay for.

Good value hotel, good location

11 September 2007
What a great little hotel, in a very convenient location, close to main Sants train station and metro lines. From Airport to Hotel within 30 mins can't be bad. Basic rooms but clean and comfortable with air con, the location is very quiet at night but within walking distance to lots of attractions. No breakfast but supermarket on next street has great bakery section. Good value for money.

Transit hotel was as expected small, clean and comfortable perfectely sited - 5 mins walk from Reus Airport bus drop, convenient to Placa Espana , Nou Camp and shopping area. You could walk to all these but did not need to as 2 metro stations each within minutes provided easy and cheap access to all 3 plus city centre & Park Guell all of which we visited - 10 journey ticket €6.90. The staff were pleasant and very helpful with 24 hour reception. Our previously booked & delivered match tickets handed to us on arrival without asking with advice & directions for our trip to Nou Camp. Breakfast not included but lots of cafes & bars in area to dine at your leisure and a hypermarche 2 mins from hotel for water, fruit and all other necessities open all day (Mon/Sat).
I would recommend the Transit to anyone on a city visit wanting a comfortable bed and a decent shower with no frills or fuss. If you want to spend time in your room or relax in the bar or foyer choose another hotel.

The Transit is ideally situated, less than a 5 minute walk from Sants station & from a stop for the tourist open air bus (which is a must whilst in Barcelona) The hotel itself is small & personal, as the same man was on the reception most of the time. The reception is 24hr & the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms, although old are clean, tidy & v.comfortable, our towels were changed daily and the beds were made each night we got back to the room. The value for money on this hotel is fantastic; we paid £15 PPPN from Alpharooms. Keeping in mind you get what you pay for, if you go expecting the Ritz you will be disappointed, but the Transit hotel was everything we required for a great stay. :-> The only suggestion I made was that they get some new pillows as they were a bit lumpy........

What a ideal place to stay. It's small but very friendly. The rooms are very good, with a television. Ideally located in central Barcelona just 4 stops on the tube from La Rambla. There is a very friendly chap from Peru who works on the reception desk. The tapas bar next door is very lively, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. All in all this is a great place to stay if you are on a budget.

we stayed for 4 nights at hotel transit it is a very basic hotel but very clean and tidy your room gets cleaned everyday and fresh towels left for you. the reception is very helpful and friendly. the hotel is situated 5 mins walk away from the main railway station sants estacio, also 5 mins from a metro station which is the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to travel around barcelona(although they are very busy at peak times). there is also tourist buses called bus turistic which is a fantastic way of seeing all attractions and places of interest in barcelona eg nou camp. gaudi's home and park guell, sagrada familla, barcelona zoo, also the gothic quarter. you pay 18euros each for one day or 22euros for 2 consecutive days, you can get on and off the bus as many times as you like. overall the hotel was excellent and barcelona is a very interesting and vibrant city and we will be back and more importantly we will be staying in the transit hotel again without hesitation.

I don't know which rooms your other reviewers were allocated during their stay in Transit Hotel but ours was abysmal.
Ants crawling everywhere, very dirty and shabby decoration ( a wash and lick of paint would've done wonders) useless air conditioning on a very hot night and the size of a postage stamp, but hey, you pay cheap you get cheap. Thank god we were only there overnight.Out of all the alpharooms hotels we have stayed in this ranks as the worst!
Bang goes my chance for an iPod!

Used this hotel for the grand prix weekend. We only wanted a bed so it seemed perfect. For us - it was! Small but clean rooms. Always someone on the desk at the door. Was a bit noisy eary as you can hear the pipes for the showers in other rooms but as we were up early anyway it worked fine. If all you need is a bed and your not after creature comforts then this is ideal. We had a tv in our room. There was air con but i think it was the sort that needs a remote so maybe they only ut it on when its hot?

A decent little place, very handily placed just around the corner from Sants main line and Metro stations, plus easily walkable from Placa Espanya.

Good value for the price in the city centre.

You get what you pay for. Basic accomodation at a basic price.
Clean room but tired look. Friendly staff, very close to Central Rail Station and Metro. I would recomend for single travellers but don't go there if your hoping to impress the wife.

The Transit hotel was ok. The main thing I will say about it is it is cheap and quiet. It is outside the very center of Barcelona but is only a short metro ride to the Plaza de Catalunya.  I found the hotel o.k. but the next day we wanted to stay another night but they put the price up at least ten euro saying it was only cheap the first night because I had booked on the internet.

Our stay at Transit Hotel

I am not very comfortable with booking hotels via the internet unless somebody I know has actually recommended the site and the hotel.  So when I checked out the Hotel through the web, I was a bit skeptical about how true the reviews were and how "reliable" it was. To my delight, not only was it said it would be, it was a bit more!

It was my (and my friend's) first time to travel to Barcelona and we only had a weekend to spare and a limited budget to spend so we were quite keen on finding a comfortable place to stay in without having to spend a huge amount for accommodations.

Hotel Transit was perfect for our requirements. It was very near (probably 5 minute walk or less) to two Metro stations, Tarragona and Sants Estacio.  Either way, you can get to La Rambla, Parc Guell, or Sagrada Familia very easily (3 of Barcelona's famous attractions).

It was well maintained as the room we stayed in was very clean and had the basic things we needed, clean bed sheets, towels, clean toilet and bath, etc.  They don't serve meals but that was okay as there were cafes and restaurants nearby.

The staff were friendly and helpful.  They can understand and speak English (our Spamish was limited to Si and Gracias!) so we didn't have a difficult time communicating with them.  We actually planned out itinerary based on their suggestions which was really perfect for us! La Rambla and a bit of shopping on the Saturday and the other attractions on the Sunday.

So thanks to Hotel Transit, our Barcelona trip was indeed very good!  I would definitely book with them again if/when I go back.

For the budget conscious traveller, this is the hotel for you!
