Didn't Like

10 September 2008
We have just come back from staying in this so called HOTEL for 3 nights didn't like this place at all. Firstly when we went to book in they couldnt find our reservation then we got our room on the 5th Floor which when we opened the door of the room we got this horrible smell of swerage from the bathroom and then we looked around the room and it was horrible i wouldn't put my worst enemy in it.....we went down to reception to change this room and she was nice and gave us another room but we asked her could we have a room with a poolview and her answer was "pool dirty, not nice" so that was really painting a nice picture for us when the staff was telling you this. The food wasn't good especially when you'd go down at 9am and there was nothing left and breakfast wouldn't be due to finish till 10.30am. Bar wasnt great you had to call for someone to serve you and then when you do get your drink it is out of date and then trying to explaining that to the staff was really really hard. Beds were like bricks too. So all and all NO i wouldn't stay there again and NO i wouldn't recommend this to anybody and i really think it should be taken off Alpha Rooms website. The was only 1 good thing in this place "Air Conditioning" other than that nothing else

This was my second stay at this hotel; on each occasion my stay has been good value for money, and of a far better standard than the Fontana Hotel which is situated in the centre of the town and of a similar price. The location is just off the N332 which is the main costal arterial route, which provides easy access to the town of Torrevija, and surrounding urbanisations. There are three major golf courses within a ten minute car journey away. The buffet style breakfast is very good, but the satellite TV systems do not show any English speaking channels. There are plenty of places close by to eat and drink. There is a small beach within easy walking distance.

Excellent value

Easy to find and a great location for getting out and about, very reasonable rates, good breakfast, clean and welcoming.....helpful and pleasant staff. Alternative places to eat close by, 'Puccini' Italian restaurant highly recommended. Will use the Torre Joven Hotel and Alpharooms again and both are highly recommended.

on arrival to the hotel torre joven,i was greeted warmly by the reception staff.i booked a single room via alpha rooms,i was pleasently supprised on the size of the room and how clean it was.it was well layed out, spacious clean tidy inviting..the staff were so helpfull i felt like royalty.from management down to the cleaners.i would whole heartadly recomend this hotel to anyone intending on visiting torrevieja,or surrounding area.there is a bus stop close to the hotel very handy to get about..and quite regular..out side the hotel are a few bars with great menus if you dont want to eat in the hotel from a real English chipy to indian to chinnese..so theres great variety..id strongly recomend that if you want to book this hotel please book it through alpha rooms,as its the best rate for tis hotel...i will be going back very soon and intend useing alpharooms again...

Do you like fish?

16 October 2007
On arrival at the hotel I was disappointed that we had to wait for so long to check into our room with no other alternative offered. The buffet food was nice however could have had a bit more variety from day to day (if you liked fish you would enjoy it) The 'nightclub/disco' was good for a laugh but unfortunately that laugh was shared by only the two of us in there as the place was empty every night we visited. Although the hotel itself was nice, clean and tidy you would need a hired car to get to places otherwise you would be stuck if the weather is bad. Staff were all friendly enough, the swimming pool was slightly below expectations as some photographs we viewed beforehand proved to be misleading where size was concerned. Drinks all fairly priced, nothing major to complain about but specific facilities could be improved.

GREAT LOCATION

24 June 2007
Just returned from the Torre Joven Hotel - very good location with bars, restaurants, lovely small beach approx. 10 minutes' walk away, safe swimming pool. Not great at hotel - quite small area. Still, very good value for money. Had a really nice stay - rooms were very nice - would go again.

my friend and i were only in the hotel for 4 days but in that time we found the staff to be more than friendley and helpful.the room was very clean and comfy.for breakfast you had a wide selection to eat but found the toaster to be very slow and food to be luke warm which was the only disappointment.the pool was very clean but did not have any signs to indicate the depth of the water.

Torre Joven Hotel

03 May 2007
We stayed at the Torre Joven as we were in the middle of purchasing property nearby. All the staff were helpful & very friendly. The hotel was in an excellent location for our needs. We were slightly apprehensive as we did not pay a lot for the room but were relieved that it was extremely clean & tidy. Our room had, air con, fridge, TV, hairdryer etc, and 2 king size beds and 2 single beds. The only complaint was the buffet breakfast which was very basic and often cold, but there is a microwave to use! There are plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. There is a small pool area at the hotel, but only 6 sunbeds! The nearest beach is about 15-30 mins walk away, or the bus goes every hour into Torrevieja. Los Naufragos beach is a large blue flag beach which was great to relax on & let our 4 year run riot after days of being stuck in solicitors etc. We would recommend the hotel if there on business or visiting, but not an ideal location for a family holiday.

Hotel Torre Joven

First time here - definitely go back. Was out to veiw property i had bought so this was ideal for my visit. Would not recommend for a family holiday as there is nothing much to do in the immediate surroundings. Stayed bed and breakfast (very nice) and had a room with an extra bedroom and large balcony. Friendly staff and nice clean room, 5 mins to beach. Outstanding value for money.

This was the 6th time that we have stayed in this hotel, so have obviuosly enjoyed it previously. The location is good, particularly if you want to explore the surrounding area. The hotel has also been extremely good value for money and my comments reflect this. We felt that this time, the food was not as good as previously but it was really the noise from the disco that affected our stay. On our last night there was an argument/fight between a group of men (not youngsters!) immediately outside the hotel at about 3.30 am, and even though this went on for some time, the hotel night reception did nothing.

We have stayed at the Torre Joven twice. Both times we found the staff helpfull and pleasant. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the rooms have a fridge and TV but only Spanish stations can be viewed. Breakfast is buffet style and you can help your self to continental or full English or a mixture of both if you can manage it. Well worth considering if you want a cheap base for a holiday.

Great value for money. Spotless hotel, comfortable rooms, hairdryer, kettle and cups, good food, good position, shops and market near by. Sea nearby.
Downside....no English TV channels. No room service. No help with luggage......hence 4/5 instead of full marks.
Very enjoyable stay.

This hotel is out of town.  The rooms are a good size and cleaned to a high standard also the staff were very friendly and helpful.  There were no working safe deposit boxes although you can leave valuables at reception.  Only Spanish, no satellite,tv( not even CNN ) and only one evening's entertainment a week. Good breakfast but tepid evening buffet.  There was a loud disco next door which disturbed some guests , not us. The beach is a 15 min. walk  away. I don't think this hotel would  suit a family holiday but ideal and good value for money if you are going to view or sign for property or just enjoy the countryside. We were there for two weeks.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

02 November 2006
We have stayed at the Torre Joven twice this year as we have been in the process of purchasing a property just further down the coast. We were extremely suprised by the standard of the accomodation as we had paid very little for our stay. We booked a room with a lounge for a little extra and it was well worth it. Our bed was enormous!
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis only as we were a little disappointed with the food first time around and found there are plenty of bars and restaurants close by.
If you are staying longer than a few days I would suggest requesting a room with a balcony so you have somewhere to sit out and a place to hang your washing as not all rooms have balconies.  Next to a busy road so can be noisy.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

22 October 2006
The Torre Joven hotel is easy to find just off the junction for Torrevieja north, situated on the main coast road between Torrevieja and San Javier. We found it clean and comfortable with the suites worth the extra few pounds and representing excellent value for money. Although the television is in Spanish, the staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good english. Apart from the food at the hotel where breakfast sets you up for the day, the surrounding restaurants, all within a few hundred metres were excellent with the Carvery providing good wholesome fare and the Puccini well worth its awards (book to avoid disappointment, the Prawns Romano were sublime and the sweets are to die for!). There is an excellent market every day in Torrevieja, ony 4 Kilometres away or the opportunity to explore the coastline via an excellent bus service or car hire which will allow you to journey inland to the impressive ancient capital city of Murcia. All in all we had an excellent stay and found the holiday to be surprisingly cheap and of a high quality.

I REALLY ENJOYED STAYING AT THE HOTEL TORRE JOVEN. IT WAS NICE AND EASY TO FIND, (WITH THE BIG H IN FRONT) IT WAS NOT BAD FOR A THREE STAR HOTEL, WITH A THREE STAR HOTEL THIS WAS ALL I EXPECTED AND MORE. I THOUGHT THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING AS SOON AS I WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR. ROOMS WERE TASTFUL AND MODERN, AIR CONDITIONING AND TELEVISION WAS AVALIABLE WITH A 3O EURO DIPOSIT ALTOGETHER WHICH I THINK IT GREAT, THE ONLY BAD THING ABOUT THE HOTEL WAS I HOPED THEY WOULD OF HAD A LAUNDRY SERVICE WHERE I COULD WASH OUR CLOTHES AND I HAD TO HAND WASH ALL THE CLOTHES. THE BAR DOWNSTAIRS WAS NICE AND BELOW THE BAR THEY HAVE A LARGE DANCEFLOOR WITH A BAR AND ENABLES YOU TO PLAY POOL, AND DARTS. I THINK THIS HOTEL WAS WORTH IT, IT IS CLOSE TO THE BEACH ONLY A 15 MIN WALK AWAY THE BUFFET FOOD WAS LOVLEY UNFORTUALY YOU HAD TO PAY FOR YOUR OWN DRINK IF YOU WANTED A DRINK WHEN EATING. REALLY ENJOYED STAYING AND LOOKING FORWARD TO PAY A REVISIT

This is a really excellent hotel. The room was much better than expected considering we had paid very little for the accommodation. The staff were extremely friendly and the buffet breakfast had plenty of options.
There is a small pool and sun-lounging area but it was sufficient for the number of guests wanting to use it.
The hotel is in the middle of an area of bars and restaurants providing plenty of choice in easy walking distance. The coast is also a short walk away.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

08 June 2006
This hotel is a clean and comfortable hotel in a convenient location situated near the main Alicante-Cartagena coast road, making exploration of this coast very easy. Although near Torrevieja, it is more in a village of its own and has some very pleasant walks down to the coast (10 mins), but there are no sandy beaches to talk of without a further 15 min walk along the coast. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and able to speak good English.

We stayed in a family room and had paid a supplement for an extra room. This gave us the main room with 2 KS beds and one single, and another room with a sofa and a single bed. Air conditioning was good, we had a balcony and a working fridge,a nd it was all very comfortable. We were even allowed to use the room all of the last day with no extra charge.

As we stayed B&B, I can only comment on the breakfast, which was a choice of cooked English-style breakfast or Continental (or both... "eat as much as you want"). Mind you the coffee had a flavour all of its own.

On the coast at its nearest point to the hotel is a delightful restaurant called the Nautilus, perfect for either lunch or dinner and not expensive. This walk takes you past some old style established Spanish villas with some delightful gates and gardens and more than one cactus display. Four of us eat dinner at the Nautilus for E60 one night and that included a bottle of wine. It was so good we went back the next night. There are many other eateries nearby to suit all tastes and pockets.

The only blot was the disco noise, but that was not unreasonable and was only open Sat and Sun nights.

Very reasonably priced and a much higher standard than I had expected. I'd recommend it.

My wife, two friends and myself stayed at the Torrejoven Hotel.  The hotel was excellent and great value for money and the rooms we occupied were large with a sitting room.  A large variety of dishes were offered every meal time, with an excellent dessert table.  Two items that require mention. The first was that food was not piping hot, but we were provided with a microwave to use, which allowed us to heat the food.  Secondly we were not aware that there was a charge to use the garage, which was £8 a night. That came as quite a shock.

The Hotel is situated out of town but the bus runs from the end of the road. It could be noisy in high season as there is a disco next door.
It was excelent value for the price paid.

The Hotel is situated approximately 3 K/m south of Torrevieja, and the cost of a hire car should be taken into account when considering this location (local transportation was cheap but each driver operated with a different "time opinion"). The recently refurbished rooms are very large and cleaned to an extremely high standard. The Swimming Pool was only available for use on 2 of our 8 day stay and there was no entertainment provided for either children or adults (other than 2 "pay as you go" computers). Evening meals were available from 20.30PM onwards and the hot food was generally tepid at best. The nearest beach was only a 10 minute walk away but take your own food as there are very few with facilities. The Hotel will not satisfy the "family holiday" type tourists but appeared ideally suited for "out all day individuals" looking to purchase a property within the area.

The hotel was adequate enough for our stay (4 days). The hotel was clean throughout and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was good and full of variety. The only thing that my wife and I thought could have been improved was the entertainment. There was only Spanish language TV available, which for those of us who could not speak Spanish was unfortunate. I think this hotel does realy deserve future visit and we would certainly consider it for our future travel to South of Spain, however we hope by that time the above improvement would have been implemented.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

29 December 2005
The Hotel was overall what you can expect from a budget hotel. We stayed on the 5th floor. The rooms were neat and bathrooms of high standards. But the lounges were really just an empty room with sofabed. The TV in rooms has no English channel except for Eurosport. A lot of things in the hotel did not work during our stay e.g. phone in room and internet in lobby. We did not have(and were neither offered) a remote for our air con and TV either, which was quite a nuisance. It seems that the hotel is run on an extremely tight budget. Buffet style breakfasts were good but evening meals were dissapointing. Would not recommend Half Board as there are plenty of nicer restuarants nearby. Be aware of leaving anything unattended. I left my jacket in the restuarant area overnight, and was "relieved" of all my cash in my wallet.
Staff at reception was very helpful and the pub in the basement was not to bad at all.

Well, here goes. It's true, you get what you pay for. Rooms small even though having a separate 'lounge', actually bed settee and bathroom..oh and no balcony, strange considering they do have some and the hotel was empty.
"next to the beach"...errr 20 minutes walk, so not far.
Staff on reception pleasant, rest....bored or ignorant, will let you choose (and yes I can speak the language, fluently).
Clean enough hotel.
Food...they shouldn't be operating a buffet, not busy enough and its cold!!! Yes I know they provide a microwave, but if I want microwaved food, I can buy better in the supermarket. Also, I cannot believe that people were clearing their own plates....thought thats part of what you pay for.
All in all.....a definite 2 star property, with 1 star service. Saying all that....you get what you pay for, and i chose to pay for this.

Pleasant Surprise

19 November 2005
I booked a hotel on line as an emergency and warned my husband not to expect much but hopefully it would be at least clean.....as after all we had only paid £78 for four days!! We were greeted by a very friendly hotel reception and then went to our very clean room where EVERYTHING worked ie.heating, good water pressure (unusual) bidet, shower and bath all very clean. We came back each evening to a spotless and tidy room.
Breakfast was normal hotel breakfast, quite acceptable, but what stands out in my mind was the friendly staff, who would do anything to help. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a no frills, friendly hotel.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

07 November 2005
Although this hotel wasn't expensive, we were very disappointed during our stay. The photos of the hotel that I had viewed prior to our visit were misleading to say the least! The reception area was particularly bad, it comprised dirty sofas and a grotty table and chairs, there was a TV and a couple of computers but we didn't use these facilities due to the poor seating arrangements and smokey atmosphere. The rooms were quite pleasant - particularly if you were fortunate enough to get a room on the 5th floor - which seemed to have been refurbished - 6 of us arrived on the Monday evening and were allocated 3 rooms on the 4th floor - whilst 2 of our party arrived on the Tuesday and were given one of the refurbished, larger rooms on the 5th floor! The rooms did have air con, T.V. fridge and a safety deposit box which was good - these were free, although there was a returnable deposit of 30 euros per room required for the air con and T.V. controls, which we felt was perfectly acceptable. The bar area was ok although it seemed to be run on skeleton staff, we were often stood for long periods of time waiting to be served, not because it was busy, but because no one was there! However, when the bar staff did appear, they were very pleasant, as were the staff on reception, especially Cristina. The pool area was appalling... the pool itself was dirty and unkempt and the 8 or so sunbeds around it were either broken or in need of a good squirt of jif! Consequently, any sunbathing had to be done on the beach. I had read a number of reviews on the hotel before our depature and the majority seemed to imply that the hotel was good value for money and better than expected, particularly the food - unfortunately we did not find this to be the case as the food was just as terrible as the rest of the place... breakfast being the worst! The food was cold, bland and lacking in choice, the staff in the 'restaurant' were miserable and didn't bother to clear plates, neither did they take drinks orders - there was a bar in the corner, where you had to go and stand in the hope of being served, whilst your food went even colder - we thus ate out for the last 3 nights of our stay! This COULD be a very nice hotel... it is in an excellent location, it has a great disco/bar attached downstairs, and has real potential to be a 3* establishment (it certainly cannot profess to be a 3* hotel in its current state!) if it were to undergo a huge refurbishment.

I was a little apprehensive to say the least as we had received such a good deal on the room rate. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised and it really only got better.  It is basically an old fashioned 3 star traditional spanish hotel from the 80's - a kind of 20 year old spanish travelodge !!!  The staff were helpful - the food was very good (it takes a lot to please my husband and 3 boys when it comes down to food).  It was a clean establishment and the rooms looked like they had been refurbished recently.  The old spanish pipework must have been left in the hotel as there was always a slightly tainted smell in the room but the bathroom and bedrooms (you got 2) were clean.  My only concern was the balcony which had a rather dodgy glass enclosure and we were sure with some slight force could have easily been pushed away - slightly concerning as we were on the 4th floor.  However, we just kept the kids away and used common sense.  The breakfast was very good and really we couldn't have complained if we would have paid double for the value we received.  The bonus was it was 25 degrees and sunny in November !!

Three Cheers to the Torre Joven

26 October 2005
Just come back from a stay at the Torre Joven and would definitely recomend the hotel for an inexpensive holiday.  The rooms were clean with a cleaning service daily with clean towels etc.  We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the buffet breakfast was the same each day with a choice of cereal and hot food and cold meat/cheese and plenty of lovely crusty bread.  The staff were very helpful and pleasant with some speaking excellent English, though they all appreciated our very broken attempts at Spanish.  Excellent tapas in the bar - do try the Tortilla, which was our teenage (Vegetarian) daughter's favourite.
The area pub below was a good place for a late drink with the barman speaking all languages and very helpful and friendly. Pool was cold but it is October.  Punta Prima Beach about 10 mins walk, and in the opposite direction excellent beaches at Torrevieja and La Mata though it is a very long walk - a bus ride is advisable they leave on the hour from just round the corner from the hotel and reasonable at 90cents taxi cost 8-10Euros to Trorrevieja.  If eating out sandwiches from 2.50 & and main meals any where from 8-12Euro depending on where. A good variation of restaurants including Indian, Italian, Chinese, German and Spanish.

We stayed at the Torre Jovan during Oct 05, for 6 nights.
Our accommodation consisted of a large double room and lounge and fridge.
The rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard.
Breakfast choice for all tastes - quality of food very good, although we booked for B&B we did have buffet lunch and a buffet dinner, both meals were very good and a good choice of food.
We found all staff freindly and helpful.
Situated near a beach but not sandy, good choice of restaurants and bars nearby.
Hotel is easy to find and is in a good position to get around from and excellent value.
The whole experience was very pleasant and we will be returning again in Feb 2006.
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

01 October 2005
For a budget hotel the accommodation in the Hotel Torre Joven surpassed our expectations. The reception staff were very friendly and we were offered the opportunity of viewing our room before handing over the 30 euros for the remote controls for the air conditioning and the television (refunded on departure). We were given a suite which was modern, clean and comfortable. Although we were a little disappointed with the repitition of the food offered, for example breakfast was the same every morning, overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Food was excellent, all staff and personnel very freindly and helpfull, would certainly go back again. Rooms vary from spacious with sitting room to large room with balcony. Would recommend to people. Could vary the breakfast slightly.
Excellent value for anyone's money.

Review of 'TORRE JOVEN'

I came with a mixed family group - aged between 7 and 83! The Torre Joven was ideal for a family holiday. What pleasure our 83 year old had sitting by the pool and going in and out of the jacuzzi every day. He also really enjoyed the evening buffet, loving it more if his 2 grandsons (7 and 12) accompanied him.
Rooms very comfortable with fab air conditioning, t.v., safe and fridge for no extra charge. Our 83 year old had a place to keep the milk for his tea. Next year he wants to go September or October as it was very hot in July! Guess the family holiday hit the spot. Thanks to the Torre joven
