Terrible Holiday
01 August 2008
Food not too bad. Lots of young Brits and Germans. Noise went on and on through the night. Hardly slept the whole time. 2 year old kept walking up in the night because of the noisy drunks. Would never go back to this hotel.

Brilliant Hotel - I Dont Know What People Want...
25 July 2008
I've got no idea where these stupid reviews are coming from i thought it was a brilliant hotel. Some must be fake because i didnt find any problem. It was inbetween fenals and lloret and the nearest supermarket was just down the road. Its near a audi, skoda and europcar too hehe!
The food was gorgeoud and the snack bar was brilliant. Rooms cleaned everyday.
And for some ofthose reviews. If the bar staff were nastyprobably because you were nasty to them. I was treated extrrememly well and they were really friendly.

dump of a hotel!
02 July 2008
no way has this hotel got any right to say its a 4 star hotel.it was a nightmare.we have been to alot of destination and never did we get treated the way we were. they had no manners at all, from the reciption to the bar staff.even if your looking for a cheap hotel dont even consider this one.even for the young people i really would'nt advise them if this is the way they treat the mature people.i wouldnt even call it a 3 star.

hotel from hell
09 June 2008
where do i begin.. the hotel itself was old and shabby.. there was a leak from the ceiling of our room.. the walls were paper thin.. the bar staff had absolutely no manners except for joseph.. the food was inedible.. there didnt seem to be a manager at all... the only good thing i can say about this hotel is that the cleaners did a great job every day.. if your going to costa brava a trip to el rancho and dani's bar is a must the food and service were fab... needless to say we wont be visiting top royal star again and by the way 3 of their four stars should be binned....

Short Break
15 May 2008
We stayed at the H.Top Royal Star for 3 nights as a short break, having stayed previously at 3 star rated H.Top hotels we were expecting a little more for a 4 star...it was no different.
The hotel itself was clean and rooms were adequate.
The food and entertainment were very basic. Entertainmennt was non existent at times, the ocasional game of bingo was available and thats about it during the day, as for the evening some childrens music was played for about 30 minutes then there was nothing.
Location is ok, however you are situated next to a graveyard and a very busy main road. The beach and town centre are about 10-15 minute walk away.
The hotel is fairly priced you kind of get what you pay for.
Also beware they also cater for large school groups at the hotel. Can be disruptive during breakfast and dinner times.
If you are looking for a cheap short break away then this hotel is not a bad option but it is not 4 star.

A fun packed holiday
04 May 2008
I stayed at H.top royal star on the 19th april till 3rd may!! A well presented hotel, very clean and in a good location, it wasn't too far from the town and big attractions such as marineland. The were lots of facilites, these include 2 good size pools, 1 indoor heated pool. A sauna and turkish bath, pool table, ping pong table, and entertainment throughtout the day provided by the hotel such as bingo, archery, bowls. The weather was excellent for the time of year and I got a lovely sun tan. I went topless on the beach, beware ppl stare, lol! The food wasnt brilliant, more catered for spainish guests. Our cleaner/maid at one point refused to clean our room and left us a note saying jo-jo no clean room it's too messy! lol all in all had a great time, would defo go back 2 a H.Top hotel.

O.k.
18 April 2008
The hotel is o.k. The location is great between main part of Llorett and Fennels area. The hotel was clean.
Not to impressed with the food after finding very pink chicken and the bread was pretty stale. Room spacious but beds very uncomfortable (one inch thick matress on 2 inch thick wooden base) and the walls are very thin - you are awake when everbody else is.
To use the facilities of the other hotels you had to book in advance, so nothing can be done spur of the moment on a short break. If I went back to Llorett I probably would stay again purely because it looked to be one of the better places to stay.

Good break
14 April 2008
If this hotel was down as three star I would have given it five out of five. It's a really good hotel, just not four star. Didn't like the room I was given first up and next morning they sorted it out brilliantly. I would definately go back.

Short Break
23 February 2008
Just returned from Top Royal Star after a four day break. Hotel spotless, room service daily and fresh towels. Staff very helpful. Meals gave plenty of choice for everyone, breakfast was exceptional cold buffet (cheese, hams and salad), hot buffet (bacon, sausage, eggs and beans) and cereals, fresh fruit various bread.Plenty of choice for evening meal and thought the availability of fresh fruit excelent. Used our all inclusive cards in other Htop hotels giving us the opportunity to go out and about. The only thing I can fault is the entertainment as in our four day stay there was only music played. But since we didn't need to spend any money on food or drinks we went to the near by bowls one evening. Would return to the Top Royal Star!!!!!!!!!

6 Day Break with Friend aged 24 - 55
22 February 2008
What a place. Staff brilliant.Food edible and plentiful. Rooms clean. Having no sleep for 6 days was my nightmare. The walls are so thin that you can hear people snoring 2 rooms away. When people decide to finally come to bed the walls shake as the doors cannot be closed quietly. This is one of the better H Top hotels and if that is so god help the people in the others. Saying that we were all inclusive and other that the sleep depravation we had a good time.

Great value for money
21 February 2008
We stayed at this hotel from 13th to 20th February. It is our 6th visit to a HTop hotel. The hotel was excellent, the rooms very clean. There was a choice of 3 bars, two for non smokers and one for smokers. The food as always in these hotels was excellent. This does seem to be an area that get mixed reviews. If you like fresh meats, a choice every mealtime, potatoes, fresh salads, vegetables, paella, pasta, all manner of pasta salads, fruit, fish, olives, soups. Delicious icecream, pastries, fruit, melon, jelly then go there because the range of food is fantastic. (Snacks are more basic with the usual burgers, chips, bacon for butties, salads, cakes biscuits, hotdogs.)
Please do not be put off with some reviews about the food. I get a bit cross when some parents on other sites say there was nothing for the children to eat, your children will experience a proper menu with proper meat that isnt disguised as a nugget. Fresh salads and lots of fruit.
The facilities at the hotel were excellent. Obviously at this time of year the entertainment was a bit limited. We spent every night in the bar that played spanish music. The elderly spanish people are very fit and will dance all night. It was great.
The bar, dining, and reception staff were very polite and helpful. They display an unusual amount of patience and tolerance towards some very impolite and not so well behaved Brits.
Lloret beach is a good 10 minutes walk away and is a fantastic beach.
The other HTop hotels in Lloret are within a 10 minute walking distance and are open to all Htop hotel clients from 10am until 7pm. You can use all the facilities in all the Htop hotels using your all inclusive card. You do have to book to use the resturants one day in advance though.
The hotel was fantastic value for money, Alpha rooms was much cheaper then the site we usually use!!!!!
To see what fantastic value for money the hotel is, make a note of what you eat and drink in the first 3 days, you will see just how much money you will have saved on a normal holiday.
Go on give it a go.

Our 5 day break
09 February 2008
eventually arrived at this hotel on 4th feb 2008 originaly booked the Royal beach but didnt find out that it was closed until waiting for a taxi at the airport (not very good alpharooms!) it was only the taxi driver who sorted us out and took us to the Royal Star the hotel itself was clean the staff very helpful and friendly, i would say that the food was edible as someone mentioned before, the main quibble was the groups of mainly brits who relished in getting absolutely plastered and then held the world hotel door slamming championships every night until 3am, other than that would visit again for a short break during the "quiet" season if there ever is one, all in all, worth the money what we paid

3 Day Break with Partner
07 February 2008
Went for a short 3 day break 02/02/08. The hotel room was clean is about the best I can say about this holiday. Rooms were nice but walls very thin.
A lot of noise even in Feb from corridors outside the room till early hrs. Bar full of all day drinkers from 8am each day. Dinner experience was like a cattle market.
The plane trip home was the best part of the holiday to say the least. They say you get what you pay for but I have spent the same amount of money on a short break in Rome and the experience was far superior. Dread to think what it would have been like in the main summer weeks.

Very good value
22 November 2007
Stayed for one week with the all inclusive alternative which was great value for the money. We were on a golfing holiday and got picnic bags with us every day we wanted since we couldn´t go back for lunch. The staff were nice and helpful and the food was very good, all in all as other reviews described the hotel might be more of a 3 star than a 4 star but definitely well worth the money.

Excellent Value for Money
05 November 2007
We paid under £170 for 4 nights on a half-board basis for myself, my husband and my 17 year old son. We arrived quite late and were offered a snack. The room was very clean and well furnished with a balcony. It was overlooking the swimming pool. The breakfast was good. We did not take advantage of our half-board as we prefer to stay out all day and eat in Spanish restaurants - this is part of our holiday. The weather was lovely. The staff in the hotel were excellent, friendly and pleasant. I would recommend this hotel.

Not 4 star but definatelt Value for money!!
04 November 2007
Goo Clean Hotel, Staff very friendly and helpful. Food good, hot and plenty of variety. plenty of choice on the free drinks front. Only minor complaint regards the hotel is that the only smoking bar is off limits for under 16's but that just meant we got a brief break from the kids!!. The clientel at the hotel were the only real quibble. A lot of groups of brits out to eat and drink the place dry who didn't feel it was inconsiderate to be banging up and down the corridors at 3am. However if you can beat them you can join them or as we did take great pleasure in banging around as we went for breakfast at 9am!!
In summing up not a 4 star hotel as i know it but for what you pay the service, cleanliness, food, drink and entertainment can't be beaten.

Caters for all
23 October 2007
Large, well run hotel. Room spotless. Staff were probably the friendliest I have ever dealt with. Food times are chaotic as it is self serve and when you have lots of different nationalities not bothering to queue and being gluttons and wasting so much, it can seem, dare I say it - 'common' and no I am not a snob, many people, including us Brits, are just rude. All inclusive is fantastic value for money, food and drink are a good standard for such a large hotel and in good supply. Entertainment was good, disco every night and with the flow of beers, wines and cocktails, everyone appeared to be having a great time. It is away from the main town and lights so you also do get some sleep. Only a pleasant 10 minute stroll to the front. I would stay there again as it really is good value.

very good break
29 September 2007
Read some reviews before going. All bad reviews were wrong - we had a lovely time. all the staff were friendly, polite and just good fun. Food was alright, it's just too much if you are not a big eater. Some rooms had a poor view, but we were lucky, i think we had one of the best views overlooking the pool and town. not far either side of two beaches, plus two sister hotels you could go to any time. i must say this was one of the best holidays ever, considering what we paid through teletex. going back next year.

What a holliday!
17 September 2007
Very nice hotel. Came from Iceland to Glasgow. Stayed at nice Artto Hotel in Glasgow and then H.Top Royal Star for two weeks. Our son (13 yrs old) got good extra bed. It’s probably the cleanest Hotel we’ve ever been to (and been to quite few). Would go back for the food, room, service etc.... and for this price! The room (and the nice balcony) was cleaned every day. We lo-lo-lo-loved the food! For those two weeks there were always something new: Nice plentyful saladbar, Chicken A La Curry, Paela, Ham, Lamb, Fish, Gordon Bleu, Veal, Gulasch.... Always cakes, deserts, fruits of all sorts and I don’t know what. If you don’t appreciate that kind of food there’s always the snack bar with burgers, hot dogs, nuggets, bread, bacon & eggs, etc.
The staff was very nice, especially though the hotel was crowded with people (Some of them were quite drunk Brits). We were surprised to see how the Brits filled their dishes with food just to leave it at the tables!? We went on lots of trips from the Hotel. All inclusive guest got good discounts on variety of trips. Medival Castle with wine and (Chicken mmm) dinner cost only 12 euros pr. person. There were also cheap trips to Barcelona (Incl. Football stadium) and to Mount Montserat (Incl. Freixenet Champagne cave trip). All inclusive guests could order free "picnic to go" at the lobby to take on the trips
The Hotel is located right up the hill between Fenal beach and Llorret Beach. A 10 minutes walk from both beaches and 3-4 minutes from the center. There were always some activity for the children during the day (Water Polo, Ping Pong, Darts etc) and entertainers at night, some very good. Loved listening to Spanish music played by The (girl) DJ and the Spanish entertainers. Do the Brits always have to listen to Brit pop? I go to other countries to enjoy the country and also their culture and music! The pools (Like everything else) were clean and very nice. We’re defenetly going back there again. Very nice place.
I miss comments from satisfied people like us which there were plenty of, but don’t seem to have access to the internet?
Stay away from the “Shuttle Bus”. We ordered it in advace but never saw that bus nor the driver. Waited for 1 hour. Flew from Lloret to Glasgow and stayed at exspensive Euro Hostel and that’s probably the most Nasty, dirty place we’ve ever stayed at.
H.Top Royal Star: Qualty Hotel. Very Clean. Good food and wines. TOP HOTEL. We’ll be back!

Review of 'TOP ROYAL STAR'
16 March 2007
i have stayed here before. this hotel is on the main road from lloret to blanes, but set back far enough that road noise is minimal. the hotel is kept exceptionally clean in both the rooms and public areas. the main pool area gets the sun all day, except for one sheltered area which is in the shade from lunchtime onwards. the food, this time, left a bit to be desired. i felt the quality of the salads had particularly gone down, but overall you would not go hungry. there is a foyer bar where you can smoke, but the 2 bars where they have entertainment are no smoking. you can smoke outside the main bar on the pool terrace. i think this hotel provides good value for money, and am happy to go back. plus point for brits is that you can get bbc1 and 2 on the room tv's. you could get itv last year, but i think that has been removed.

Review of 'TOP ROYAL STAR'
27 February 2007
My pal and me used Top Royal Star as a base for our walking holiday and it was a good choice - handy for all amenities in Lloret de Mar and very good value for money.
Food was good with a fairly wide choice - lots of salads, fruit and vegetables (which the burger and fries brigade wouldn't like much!). Room was well-equipped, clean and comfortable with room-service on every day of our stay and anytine we needed the hotel staff, we found them helpful and approachable (although one or two spoke very little English).
Read some reviews which complained about the noise but when we stayed (late February) it was very quiet with mainly older groups of people staying. Would be happy to stay there again.
