The Tonic Hotel location was excellent, set in the heart of Marseille's Old Port . The room was fab! Modern boutique style, with a jacuzzi bath! (which although a little short in length, was a lot of fun!). Clean. Non-smoking, as per our request. Lovely!
We didn't manage to get our requested sea view however, so our view was non-too picturesque, (although sea views are available: we may have booked at too short a notice). When we tried to order two cups of tea to our room one breakfast time, we ended up being stung for two very expensive breakfasts with the wrong tea! Room service could not comprehend that we wanted at least one Ceylon tea: my husband can't drink Earl Grey. The breakfasts were just croissants and bread with some jam and butter, not worth 14 euros each. We vowed to learn French for next time.
Other than breakfast/tea-gate, we had a fabulous holiday. The staff were friendly and helpful and the evening set meal at the restaraunt was good value, tasty food: bearing in mind that France can be expensive.
We stayed for four nights in Tonic Hotel: Marseille, which we felt was perfect. We also found Alpharooms.com to be good value and service and one we will be happy to use again.
