good for the money but near nothing!
07 August 2007
I stayed in the Tomo Hotel with facilities because it was cheap and my first visit to Riga.
The price was very good and the room as very clean with mini bar a shower but no bath (I presume non facilites mean you share these with others) and a small choice of TV stations, including pay tv stations.
Breakfast buffet was fairly basic with meat cheese, bread, cereals, eggs etc, but nothing special at all.
The business centre has a few basic pcs and is in a very nice room and £1 / 1.50 euro / $2 per hour.
There is no room service after midnight or indeed anywhere inside the hotel to get any food from unless you want crisps or nuts or chocolate etc from the mini bar in your room.
The bar is open late though but is expensive.
Also as you look around the local area you will see there is virtually nothing nearby apart from 24 hour gambling arcade and a few small kiosks that are open during daylight hours.
If you walk out lookng for something to eat forget it unless you like a LONG walk!
Which brings me to the very worst thing about this hotel, the distance from anything!
It is going to cost you from £8-10 / 12-15 euro / $16-20 eat time u want to get into or back from cental Riga although you can get a tram for £0.50 / 0.80 euros / $1 as long as you get the correct one and don't mind the long ride with stops...other than that you can walk it which will take over an hour at a decent pace!
Or if you drive they do have a huge carpark you can use which is more than most of the higher star hotels can offer
So probaly best for groups that don't mind sharing a taxi fare or people that don't mind being out in a quiet but nice and safe out of town region.
For the price a decent hotel but the distance from the main attractions did put me off from going back there.
