Worst Hotel Ever

27 September 2006
The Hotel is in a poor area with a very poor clientele.Management must think people who use it have a very low standards. There were drunks and prostitutes both inside and out.Entry was not the most welcoming.Carpets needed cleaning.Room door has been forced open and still showed the evedience. The bedroom was old well and truely used.Head marks on the wallpaper.Bedcovers were very soiled. There is not one positive remark I could make about the establishment. My husband and I could not get away from the place quickly enough.I hope you use this report to save others from destroyonh their holiday.

The Stroomi was by far the cheapest place I could find to book for a group of us (13) for a mate's stag do. The Stroomi hotel is located well away from the center of town approx 10min taxi ride, and is a what appears to be a run down area of the town. Both the guidebooks we used aired caution about the area, and although we had no problems ourselves, locals were seen being asked to leave the hotel by the security on the door. We used the security boxes at £1 a day charge.

The rooms are small but adequate, nothing spectacular and all had ensuite. Most importantly they were clean! towels were supplied and changed regularly.

The restaurant is small and I must be honest I did not once make it to beakfast, so cannot vouch for the food, although I saw some main meals come out and they looked reasonable.

A taxi fare to the town center varied considerably from around £4 to £8, taxi drivers seem to charge as they wish, and the meter appears to be set as they see fit, so I would strongly advise agreeing a price before getting in, or at least getting some idea of cost.

There is a small kiosk across the road from the hotel, which sells drinks, sweets and magazines etc as the hotel has no such facility, although the restaurant doubles up as the bar until 2100hrs. The bar is quite literally that, appears to be in one room on the ground floor which has been converted. Prices were reasonable, although slightly more than in town a beer would set you back between £1.50-£2.00.

In summary if you are after a romantic weekend, Im sure there are nicer hotels, but if you are on a shoe string budget or just looking for a place to sleep then there is no reason to be too concerned. We would all happily return the next time one of us decides to get hitched!

Review of 'STROOMI'

The hotel itself is very clean and well run.
For the price, (approx £20 a night with a breakfast) it was good value for money so you can't really go to wrong.
The downside to this, is, its about 15-20 min bus ride from the hotel to centre, there is, however, a bus stop outside the hotel that is frequent and inexpensive (about 50p).
Taking into account the main reasons for choosing a hotel (value and location) i would rate this hotel a middle of the road 3.

Hotel Stroomi was a great place and i really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and tidy, and there was a Tv with over 70 free channels including English speaking. I had my main meals in the  hotel, and the food was excellent and the prices were very cheap as well, the hotel bar was also good if you wanted to carry on drinking after a night in the town. The beach and park was only 3 minutes walk away, and although the hotel is in a built up area it was very safe for me to walk around at all times of the day, and was never challenged or threatend by the locals. The hotel staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you with any  questions you want to ask ,or if you need anything organising. If you want a room when in Tallinn for a good price try Hotel Stroomi
