Wasn't the best holiday

18 August 2008
Myself and my husband booked this holiday back in November of last year and we were all looking forward to it for ages. to be honest when we got there it wasn't what we expected at all, so many people were telling us that it was the best place to be and it suits everyone. We were at least 1 hour waiting to check in because of the bad service there. then when i finally got to the check-in desk i was told that my room wasn't ready for another 1. when we finally got the key for the room we had to walk through the hotel out onto the pool and straight out to the appartments which were at the very back of the complex. i thought this was a disgrace as we had two elderly women with us 1 in wheel-chair and 1 walking so it was very easy to fall.By the time we got to our appartments we were fit for bed, so that took up most of our day. The food there wasn't great at all by day there was only hot-dogs and chips, burgers and sandwiches which wasn't a great selection, and aswell the prices of food and drinks there was ridiclious. the entertainment at nighttime was the worst ever, the singers in the hotel were so boring you would literally fall asleep but out-side by the appartment pool there is a stage area there and they do an act every night, that wasn't as bad but it didn't last very long and it was mostly childrens entertainemnt. The rooms were very basic but clean. The pool area itself was very clean also and it was designed well, also there was alot of life-guards there which was good to see. my daughter one day was approached by two life-guards as was asked to go out clubbing that night with them, i honestly think that it is a disgrace to have life-guards like that it really makes you think are they really into there job or are they there to check out the tallent. its situated right on the beach and close to everything.

Marvelous facilities

28 June 2008
We had a marvelous holiday at the Sol Principe. The place was spotless. New swimming ares well designed. Hotel entertainment in the nights was adequate. Staff were friendly helped us locate a mobile phone which we left behind. Food excellent location a short walk from the main central areas of the resort.Plenty to do at the resort near to agua parks and theme parks and next to beach. Some work been carried out when we were their but was coming to an end. The only critism I would have was the pool areas tended to be slippy when wet I witnessed several children slipping badly and one older person having a very nasty fall just be careful.

Review of Sol Principe

08 June 2008
Lovely hotel offering good value for money. Room was excellent with lots of wardrobe space, hangers, fridge, air-conditioning, nice bathroom and balcony. Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. There was a good variety of food, all very fresh but there can be queues at peak times. Location was excellent, being at the quieter end of torremolinos but with easy access to a lovely beach and a short walk into the centre. There were plenty of nice restaurants and bars in the area. we had a lovely walk along the promenade all the way to Benalmadena. The hotel catered for all ages with newly refurbished pools and play areas for children but quieter gardens and pool area for adults only. There was also a choice of entertainment, catering for different tastes. All areas of the hotel were very clean and although our room over-looked the busy pools and entertainment terrace we didn't suffer from noise and found the room very quiet. The entertainment did not finish too late so we weren't disturbed when we were trying to sleep. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would fully reccomend it, although it may be noisier and busier during the summer months.

fantastic holiday

02 June 2008
We have just got back from a fantastic holiday at the Sol Principe and Principito hotel. We arived late at night and were pleased to be greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff. The hotel rooms were clean and spacious even for 2 18 year olds with alot of clothes! The facilities of the hotel were exceptional, especially since there has been work done around the pool area, it really is a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. The children's club was fantastic, the entertainments team were brilliant with the children and made their holiday fun while givin us adults some relaxin time as well. Daily activities were provided around the pool by enthusiastic entertainments staff, helping everyone make the most of their holiday. Although the hotel is slightly out of the way, it did not make too much of a difference to us as the facilities in the hotel were so good, and with a supermarket across the road and the marina with good nightlife a short taxi ride away, the quieter location was very much appreciated. Overall a fantastic holiday and are already planning our next trip back, excellent for all ages!

We have stayed here a couple of times before and have always enjoyed the experience. However on this occasion we were disappointed with the room we were given on the Second Floor. As we entered the room there was a profoundly bad smell of Sewage to which we traced to an unsealed Pipe in the Ceiling which had easy access by way of a removable Air Vent. We went immediately to Reception and told of our experience and requested a change of room. We were offered a possible change of room in the morning and we said this was unacceptable as the smell was nauseating and could not be tolerated over night. The person spoke to the Manager and he agreed to move us to a Family room immediately.

We have just returned from a self catering holiday at the Sol Pricipito, and had a lovely time. The apartment was a little on the small side, as we had our19 year old daughter with us, hanging space for her clothes seemed to be missing in the lounge area where she slept. The apartments area catered for families with a flintstones theme to attract the children. The facilities in the hotel were very good, and on this march 2007, holiday seemed to attract an older age group of mixed nationalities. The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Certainly a Hotel for all age ranges and in a good location of the sea front. So enjoy your Holiday.

Review of 'SOL PRINCIPE' Very Good

23 January 2007
Very friendly and helpful staff. Meals excellent in quality and quantity. Room clean and tidy and kept that way with a daily service. The only complaint I would make is that its a bit far out of town - a car is required.

Off the cuff break.

08 October 2006
Food was well cooked and varied, they catered for all tastes and there was always plenty of it. The dining areas were pleasant, if at times a little noisy which you have to expect due to hotels size. The swimming pool areas were well looked after and there was plenty of space and always plenty of sunbeds. Air conditioning worked well and the staff was always very obliging. As I usually stay further into the town, I must admit I would have liked for the Hotel to provide a courtesy bus, but thats just me being lazy I guess. All in all a great week.

This is our second visit to the Sol Principe in Torremolinos, and we haven't changed our opinion.  The situation of the hotel is fantastic, through the gardens to the beach (although it is across the road - the drivers here actually wait for you on the zebra crossings!!!!)the accomodation is first class, clean towels every day, clean bed linen twice a week, friendly helpful staff in reception, dining room and bars (there were four of us and we never carried a drink to our table, the waiters were superb) The choice of food at meal times was impossible to fault - there were at least three meat dishes, two fish and also vegetarian options. The chefs actually cook the steaks, chops and fish,  fresh in front of you, ensuring that it is lovely and hot. Breakfast is excellent also, with plenty of cold options plus a full english cooked breakfast if thats what you want, also omlettes and pancakes with syrup- limitless tea, coffee, water, orange and pineapple juices, although the toast machine is not the best, if you put it through twice its perfect!!!
All in all we have had two wonderful holidays, one week in june with parents and one week in september with friends - the weather was 34 degrees plus every day, the hotel is truely wonderful and we shall definately go back again.
Thanks to the Sol Principe for a wonderful holiday...

Had a great week at this hotel. Got more than we bargained for with nice little extras including a hairdryer, fridge, shampoo/shower gel/soap dispensers etc. Cleaning every day including fresh towels. Hotel very clean overall and most of the staff were friendly. Food excellent with variations every night. Fresh and cooked in front of you. A very busy cafeteria style restaurant so don't expect intimate dining! Only real downside was that the other guests were mostly over 55 - younger families use the adjoining apartment complex - and consequently the evening entertainment was geared to this market! No problems though as there are plenty of bars etc close to the hotel and a 30min walk takes you into the centre of Torremolinos. Will definately use the hotel again and have already recommended it to other family members.

An excellent hotel and good value for money.  Very clean with hard working staff.  Excellent location - with direct access to beach.  Good entertainment in the evening.  Food very good choice with something to suit everyone.  As in all hotel in Spain now no smoking which was fantastic.  However they did keep one bar for smokers and provided live music there.  Rooms not vast but lovely bathrooms which were spotless.  A fridge and hairdryer provided at no extra cost.  Safe deposit boxes about 1 euro a day.  Even though the hotel is large there is a nice intimate feel about it.  At the time of our visit there were many Italians and French visiting which made for an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.  We are definitely going back later in the year.

Short and Sweet

24 November 2005
We stayed at the Hotel Sol Principe in Torremolinos for 2 nights in May 2005. The hotel is situated on the Paseo Maritimo with a terrace overlooking the beach and one of the swimming pools, although the main entrance is in a parallel street. Queuing at reception was mandatory at check in and check out but not unsuprising bearing in mind the large capacity of the hotel.
Breakfast and dinner were buffet style with a good choice from a variety of dishes which were well cooked. The clientele included British, Spanish, French and Italian guests mainly on package tours----on the first evening there were two or three Spanish ladies who had dressed for dinner and the evening in beautiful floor length dresses which were wasted in the cafeteria surroundings.
Perhaps we ate too much on the first night because the array did not seem quite so varied and appetising on the second...
The room was spotlessly clean with a small television, armchair and table, although the minibar fridge was room temperature inside. The capacious wardrobe had ceiling to floor mirrored sliding doors. There was a hairdryer and an infra red light in the bathroom, and wall dispensers with shower gel, shampoo and soap.
Some of the rooms may have unrivalled sea views, but others have rather grim aspects onto a completely enclosed inner well, with the roof atrium of the reception area at the bottom and the rest of the building towering high above. Ours was neither of these.
There is a arcade of shops along the corridor leading to the Sol Principito apartments and pool gardens, and a small SuperSol supermarket across the road. There is a small Mercadona supermarket not too far away.
All the staff encountered in the hotel were pleasant.
I expect we will stay here again soon.

Mid october and the hotel still had plenty to offer, rooms were clean and well equipped, food was good and the staff friendly.
I would not recommend for anyone young wanting a lively holiday, as this time of year the majority of people were elderly.

EXCELLENT!!!!
Just come back from the Sol Principe.

AREA: 10 Mins from airport, 15 euros in a taxi.

The hotel is right on the beach front where you can walk for miles along the front browzing the shops and bars. We generally walked to the harbour and back, (a fair few miles!)

FOOD: Food is good. Quality is very good but not much choice to be honest. We only went for 1 week and it was fine, but i can imagine getting very bored with it for 2 weeks. Breakfast was the same every day, where as evening meal had a different meat dish, with the usual chips, pasta, etc.

POOL: the hotel has 2 pool areas, there's the main pool with a kiddies pool, where all activities take place. If you want a quieter pool there's the smaller pool at the front of the hotel that's smaller but a nice change.

STAFF: Always very nice, polite and helpful. We never had a problem with not speaking Spanish.

OVERALL: Very enjoyable holiday, getting a very cheap price from alpharooms made it better ;). Made me realise that all a package holiday does is get you to the hotel from the airport and try and flog you excursions. Will never do a package again after this holiday.

Will definitely go again.

'SOL PRINCIPE' Torremolinos

28 March 2005
I have stayed at many hotels in the Costa del Sol and have found the Sol Principe in Torremolinos to be of a consistently high standard. The food, accomodation and security for example are hard to beat even when compared to many 4 star hotels. The Sol Principe appeals to all ages and is especially family-friendly - there are numerous activities and play areas as well as shops and video games etc. to keep the kids happy. I also enjoyed the happy hour and the general levels of service throughout the hotel and would encourage anyone to book when there is availability.
