Showers were cold unless you turned it on to a trickle first and when it warmed up a bit higher. On the second floor there is no water presure. Room was small with badly placed furniture. Staff were friendly, the toilet next to the lobby is far from clean.

Review of 'Sohotel'

After booking and then coming across a mix of comments on the site about the Sohotel I was quite anxious to discover that I might have made a mistake in booking out of haste. But I'm relieved to say that once I got there I was pleasantly surprised at the adequacy of the room and the hotel generally. The room was clean and comfortable, even if a little on the small side. But the location (right in the midst of the mayhem that is Manhattan!) made up for this. The only qualm I had was with the hot water in the shower, It took a long time to heat up, but I found funnily enough that a few turns of the toilet flush speeded the process up abit (don't ask how, funny plumbing i guess!). All in all you get the level of service that you pay for and the hotel staff were polite and very helpful.

It was more like a hostel as opposed to hotel? Clean, staff were helpful and it was in a great location i.e. Chinatown, Little Italy, off Broadway. Shower was cold, apparently system is old and you have to flush the toilet to get the heat into it, we did and it made no difference! Thankfully it wasn't too cold out but I'd hate to be using it in Winter! If its cheap 'n' cheerful you want this should suffice. Its also in walking distance to Ground Zero and Staten Island ferry....if you like walking that is?!
