family with two children
31 August 2008
As I am disabled I asked for a low floor, little disappointed as I was on the 1st floor, and at the end of a very very long corridor. Had my two grandchildren with me, one 13 and the other 9, we went on a half board holiday, I have been on many half board holidays, but what a choice, very small dining room, food terrible, my nine year old grandson did not eat a thing, he did not like the food, which I will admit was not suitable for children,
so we took him out for food. Local restaurants were very good, and close by. We tried our best to look for the beach, but so far away we could not find it. Sun beds (what a hope) we found it best to wait until around three o clock to go to the pool, which by the way was very good, and very clean. people tend to leave their loungers, go for food etc; and come back hours later.
Good hotel, we would go back again, but without the half board. Red lion pub at the hotel good. entertainment also good, reps great. only other thing I found was, they were lovely when you were there, but out you go when your time was up, other people needed your room. I must be fair good overall.

fantastic time
10 August 2008
Hotel was what we expected for a 3 star. The room are very basic but spacious, it could do with a bit of painting around the doors but apart from that ok. We had a great view from our balcony of the pool and mountains.
The pool and bar area was keep very clean and the staff were very friendly.
My children are aged 12and 10 and they were entertained well by the reps, they worked very hard.
The hotel is well situated because it is just round the corner from the main strip with all the shops and resturants, but it is located in a quiet area. This was are first holiday abroad and we really enjoyed it and we would recomend this holiday ecpecially to family with children under 12.
We visted the water park not far from our hotel and we had trouble getting the children home it was so good.

back again!
09 June 2008
arrived at the hotel to find that we were supposedly not booked into this hotel - not what you want when arriving at 04:30hrs....after 5 minutes they found out that my forename and surenames had got muddled and we now had a room.
This is the thirteenth trip to Siesta1, my dad used to own a studio between 1992 and 1996, and some thing never change, well not much!
the rooms are as you would expect-two single beds, and a bed settee with another pullout underneath. television with four english channels, including kids tv in the morning - bonus when getting ready for a day / trip out.
Kitchen - small compact in what looks like a massive cupboard.
nearly everything is as i remembered it, bar a very nice waterpark area for the kids and a huge stage that has been made for the evening entertainment.
as we had booked independently, we were not expecing much from the thomas cook / airtours reps, but they took our 3 year old with the rest of the kids quite a lot. the entertainment team are brilliant, especially Aaron, the only male who comes in for a lot of banter with the girls.
Food at the hotel (The Red Lion) - Very good, cheap and cheerful for all tastes. a three course meal could be had for as little as £7, although prices on most food and drinks rose by upto 1euro on the first of june.
Bonus time - Scrumpy Jack cider on tap in the Red Lion pub, 3.10 euro's. =)
i have to mention the staff in all aspects, from the cleaners to reception through to the bar staff - very good, very efficient, but could do with a smile on their faces. i know it can be hard dealing with many people at the same time, but it was only the start of the season when we arrived (albeit, bank holiday weekend), smiling faces = more tips, simple as.
on one note, the last night - after ordering our drinks, we changed table due to a bit of a cold breeze, the bill arrived with food only priced - paid and scarpered, unfortunately some ungrateful person on T20 was going to be paying for three drinks that were not his / hers. this happened on a few occasions, of which i did rectify as sometimes whole meals were going missing from the bill, not from changing tables.
All in all, another great holiday at the Siesta1 complex yet again.

Excellent Value
15 May 2008
My friend and I were a little apprehensive about staying at the Siesta I after reading mixed reviews, but we can honestly say we had nothing to worry about. We had a self catering apartment on the first floor and it was brilliant for the 2 of us (it would have been a squeeze for any more people though). The staff on reception were excellent, all spoke English and were very helpful, as were the staff in the Red Lion and the shop below. The apartment suited us fine, we were looking for a cheap holiday in a clean hotel in a beautiful part of Mallorca. This fulfilled all of that. The furniture is a little 70's but we could not fault the cleanliness of our apartment, reception or around the pool. It was a well stocked little kitchen although most nights we did eat out. Although the Port D'Alcudia does cater very heavily for English people wanting English bars you can still find some lovely places to eat out, even if you are on a budget like us. We had good meals at the Italian restaurant closest to the hotel and a lovely restaurant with brilliant staff called el lorres vert (or something along those lines it is on the left as you walk to the beach). There is a fabulous beach in Alcudia and Formentor. Also go on the tram and train in Soller, beautiful! I would recommend hiring a car, we paid about £70 for a week, from doyouspain.com and found them very good - as long as you dont mind the queue in the airport. Overall an excellent holiday-it was about 25 degrees each day so we couldn't even fault the weather. If you expect a 2 star hotel you will not be disapointed as it was a 3 star in our opinion.

Not the cleanest!
25 April 2008
On arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by several local beetles scurrying around, we complained at the reception and the solution was that the maid left us a can of fly spray the next day! Fortunately the beatles didn't like sharing with us and disapeared after a day anyway! The room itself was......... strange! It was adequately furnished with a english speaking channel on the telly! The staff were ok, some english, but I was unimpressed to find we could not have clean towels on the Friday, when I phoned down to ask if the housekeeper was coming, I was told no service today, and no clean towels available! Ok, I understand everyone needs a day off, or two, in this hotels case, but surely I could have been offered the choice of collecting towels, as, probably like most people, I had thrown them in the bath the morning before! The food.... where should I begin... It was served in a little restaurant under the hotel, the majority of it was cold, unlabelled and pretty offensive looking! Even the breakfast, which is usually a safe bet was borderline, bacon was re-heated so often it was like eating cold toffee strips! We were not offered a drink on any evening, although it was obvious the staff had their favourite guests as some had a drink before they had settled! Location wasn't bad, right opposite the local horse riding centre, the highlight of my stay was watching the horses having their breakfast, at least they didn't have to worry about cracking their teeth on the bacon!
I've stayed in many 2 star hotels before and can honestly say I have never had any problem with basic facilities, but when it comes to cleanliness, that is a different matter!

24 April 2008
Just back from a most wonderful week spent at the Siesta. We booked an apartment which was perfect for our needs. The apartment was very clean and the bathroom facilities were on a par with a 4* hotel. We had our own balcony with stunning views of sea, mountains and a ranch.
From the moment we pulled into the car park we could se that this was so much more classier a hotel than we had expected to find, the reception area is just spectacular with very helpful staff.
There are 3 lifts to all floors so taking upour luggage was no problem.
The grounds of the hoyel really are very pretty with palm trees, shrubs and many flowers all of which sit within the backdrop of a green mountain. the pool is well maintained and clean.
We ate at the hotel on 2 nights and the meal for 3 people which was starters, meal, desserts and drinks came to around 32-34 Euros...so very good value. Breakfast too is available at a cost of 6Euros per person, it is a all you can eat bufet of eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, etc, or there is the healthier option of fruit, croissants, pastries, cereals, and all drinks.
One drawback we found was that due to the furniture in the rooms being quite heavy by design ( but really nice furniture and furnishings) it was a bit noisy when people in adjoining rooms pulled a chair or a coffee table around as it made a regular grating noise as it dragged on the lovely tiled floors.
There are plenty of places to eat within a few minutes walk of the hotel, one we would highly reccommend is Lunas bar, it is large and roomy with friendly attentive staff and a good menu, another place is the Lasos Chines restaurant where you can order from a menu or go for the buffet as we did ..what a blow out and all for less than 40 Euros for 3 people with drinks.
So in general our thoughts are that the Siesta1 is a great place just waiting to be discovered in a really nice setting with very helpful staff...all of whom spoke excellent english.

21 April 2008
I thought these apartments were excellent value for money. The maid came to clean everyday except Thursdays and Saturdays and the pool and outside area was immaculate.
The hotel pub "The Red Lion" was good value for money which had nightly entertainment.
The apartments are well equipped with microwave, fridge, hob and utensils. There is a portable TV in each room which has BBC for when you need a little time out. The beds are spacious and there is a pull-out sofa bed which splits into 2 to create extra bedding.
We had to check out of our room at 12 pm and didn't fly until 10.00 pm. I was a bit worried about this as the children are still babies. The hotel offered us a free session in the shower room and we borrowed a towel for 1 Euro. The hotel offered to open up the lounge area for us so that our 2 year old could sleep. They were very helpful and friendly and I would recommend this holiday for families.

21 August 2007
Just back from a 2 week stay in siesta 1 apartments. We stayed in a studio which was more than big enough for the 3 of us. Storage space was limited, but the studio was well equipped with everything you needed. It was cleaned with fresh linen 5 days per week. The pool area was fantastic, although as mentioned you do need to queue for sunbeds which got to be a bit of a drag. My daughter loved the water play area in the apartments. We found the reception staff helpful and friendly. The entertainment staff were excellent and made the holiday, keeping you busy around the pool during the day and also running the night time entertainment. Ideally situated at the top of the strip which meant you weren't disturbed at night time with people coming past the apartments at all hours, ideal if like us you have young children. All in all we had an excellent holiday and will hopefully return next year.

July 2007
06 August 2007
We stayed in a studio apartment which was well equipped with ceiling fan, air con, hair dryer, ironing board and even washing-up liquid and sponge are provided! The studio was clean and easily big enough for a family of four but was lacking in storage, a set of draws would have been helpful. The maid service was okay with clean towels when you wanted them but be prepared for the odd cockroach. The reception staff were always helpful and were either English or spoke excellent English. One downside to the apartments was the queue for sun beds in the morning, if you want to spend the day around the pool (which is very nice) be warned, you’ll have to be downstairs to by 8:00 a.m. to be guaranteed a bed. We only did this three times but that was enough! We found the best thing to do was to sleep in, have a breakfast, go out for the morning and return back around 2:00 p.m. for lunch and go down to the pool around 3:30 when beds are a lot easier to come by and you don’t get burnt to a cinder.
The Red Lion Bar under the apartments served reasonably priced bar food all day and the staff were very hard working and great fun even in the early hours after a very long day. The evening entertainment was done mostly by the Tomas Cook reps who tried very hard and to be fair were better than most we’ve seen in the past but that wouldn’t be difficult. The usual format applied, kids disco, bingo, the odd guest act then back to more kids games later on which stopped them getting bored.
Alcudia beach is lovely and clean, ideal for children, but the ‘main strip’ with all the bars and restaurants could do with a good clean and the touts become a pain after a couple of days. In summary a holiday at Siesta 1 wont be the best holiday you’ve ever had but it definitely wont be the worst.

Siesta 1 - Brilliant Hotel
31 July 2007
(July 2007) This hotel is right at the very far end of 'The Strip' in the hustle and bustle part of Alcudia, about 10-15 minute walk from the beach. The hotel was spotlessly clean with excellent maid service and ALL the staff are conversant in English. The Red Lion pub attached to the hotel is excellent value for money serving what i would call traditional English pub food. The pool was huge and again cleaned thoroughly every day prior to the 9 am mad rush to get your sun beds (tip - go to the gate by the garden end of the pool and you will be one of only 2 or 3 people waiting, unlike the other end where the queues are staggering !) Great for families and those wanting a English flavour to their holiday. If you want traditional spanish holiday stay away or book a hotel in the Port area, which was a 30 minute walk or 5 euro taxi away and well worth exploring during the evenings for lovely restaurants. By booking through Alpharooms and my flights independently i paid £1150 for a 10 night break, which would have cost £2200 with Thomsons. (Family of 5 with children 6, 4 & 1) Beat that !!

CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN
26 July 2007
My family have just come back from Alcudia and, well, after 7 years with no holiday it was worth the wait. The resort is brilliant, the apartments and complex you can't ask for more. Great pool and bar. The people at Siesta 1 are amazing - kids were never bored. My wife and I loved every minute apart from the trip home. All in all, an amazing holiday. Already booking to go back next year.

I went with my mam dad and friend. I'm 16 and thought it was great. the area was lovely only a few minutes walk to the beach. the cleaners came every day and were really helpful. there is lots of things to do for people of my age so your never bored over there. If you go to Alcudia, don't forget to check out 'cheers' after 12, thats when it really kicks off. and the food ( and staff) in ola's is brilliant, definitely try it out. Adios

Great
26 April 2007
We stayed at the Siesta 1 last May for one week and I wished we had booked for 2 weeks, the pool was lovely, the rooms were spacious and clean with a big balcony with a highchair and table and chairs - internet portals in reception and near to all the entertainment in alcudia, just a 15 min walk to the beach but I believe there will be a shuttle bus to the beach before long. We have booked to go back this July and I cant wait.

This is a fab place to stay, the room we stayed in was a studio. It was great, clean, good view, pretty spacious (only down side were sheets bit smelly and couch uncomfortable). The rate we paid was amazing. The staff were nice and a good location. Beach about 20 min slow walk away. The pool area is nicely kept and looked inviting. I would recommend this resort based on the very low rate we paid through alpha rooms.

Booking on internet was very smooth. Our visit at Siesta I did not start so well. We got a room which smelled so much smoke!! I had noted in my booking that we wanted a non-smoking room. Happily this was quickly changed to another room! The Siesta staff was very friendly and helpful! But the cleaning of the rooms was not to our satisfaction. Another parts of the hotel where very clean, like the reception-area and pool-area.

25 May 2006
This was our second visit to the siesta 1 as we were there for a week in september 2005. Was very impressed the first time we stayed there hence the return visit. It is a family orientated hotel, very freindly and a good atmosphere with lots of similar young families as us to mix with. It is clean and the rooms are adequate with everything you will need for your stay. I would say though that this time around we did have a problem with ants in our room which was taken a little lightly by the staff on reception. They did try to sort the problem but not with any real gusto, just send the cleaners up to give a quick spray. Didnt really solve the problem in the long term as they returned everytime a few hours after spraying. Also a little dissapointed with the quality of the entertainment in the red lion bar which is part of the hotel. The staff were holiday reps that were very young and inexperienced with young children. In saying that if I was ever to go back to alcudia again I would probably choose this hotel as it is in a good location.

Review of 'SIESTA I', great holiday
01 May 2006
Just back from siesta 1 and had a great holiday. Its the second time ive stayed there in the last 6 months & would go back again and again. Hotel is lovely, rooms are very clean and have everything you need in them, pools large and very clean and staff are friendly. Siesta 1 has an ideal location its about a 10/15 minute walk to the beach, near to loads off lovely restaurants (who all cater for British taste) and not to close to the nightlife, so you can sleep without the noise from the pubs and clubs. Its about a 5/10 minute walk to Cheers which is a family pub that caters for families in early evening (great childrens entertainment) then has a karoke and becomes a pub/disco later on which caters for both young and old. If you do go definatley take a trip to Cheers you wont regret it, fun had by all! Enjoy!

we have been going to siesta since 1990 and you could not wish for a better place to stay. They have everything you need to enjoy a holiday. We have seen this place go from strength to strength and just get better everytime we go. I would recomend this place to anyone as they are just wonderful people who run it and nothing is a problem to them. The bar and restaurant is excellent, when we started going it was only small and now it is huge. The owner is so friendly and so are the staff and will they will do anything to help you. The pool is spotless and well maintained, the entertainment is great and they have their own crew who work their butts off to keep the kids entertained. I cant wiat to see them all again this summer, as this place is just 1000% pure excellance

We have had such a good time in Alcudia that We have returned to these apartments three times in the last 12 months. They represent excellent value for money and are exceptionally clean and very well managed. The pool area is large and well maintained with lots of sun beds. The location is good - at the quieter end of the resort, with the mountains as a back drop! there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. It is quite a distance from the beach but a boat is available over a lagoon, which can be fun for the kids. The beach in Alcudia is superb, it is certainly worth visiting.

Siesta 1 is situated in an ideal location at the end of the main street where all the bars and restaurants are so you are within easy reach of everything but away from all the noise. At the other end of the road, about 15 mins walk is the lovely sandy beach. Before arriving at the Siesta 1 we were not sure what to expect but we were all very pleasantly surprised. The reception area was very big and airy and exceptionally clean. The hotel staff were excellent. The Siesta 1 is run by an English couple who have been there for 20 years and they run this hotel very efficiently. We had three studio apartments which were much bigger than we expected, very clean, had TV with english channels and were air conditioned, which is a big plus. The maid comes 5 days a week and towels are changed daily. The swimming pool is very big but not very deep which is good for children. It was cleaned daily as was the surrounding areas. One thing that was a big plus was that the pool area was locked until 9 am, which meant that you didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed. Sunbeds were free but you had to pay 1 euro if you wanted a mattress. We could not fault this hotel at all, it is a very clean well run establishment in a good location and would recommend it to anyone.
