What our customers say
Stayed in this hotel last weekend (9th-11th Feb 2007) and was immediately disappointed. Firstly there was considerable confusion surrounding the reservation, despite having booked via the hotel's own website. So make sure to take Hard-copies of any booking confirmations.
Secondly we were allocated an un-refurbished room which was very tiny and smelled of damp (being kind). On complaining we were originally offered a room change for our second night, but with persistant complaint got moved straight away. From the conversations with reception staff it was apparent that this was a very common complaint.
On the plus side, the staff were very pleasant and the modernised rooms whilst small were comfortable and well finished, although the airconditioning wasn't working. The breakfast too was quite good (perhaps lacking in variety) however you should get down early as there isn't sufficient dining space for all residents. Also, you should note that there isn't a bar in this hotel although we found a lovely Pub called the Mitre within a few hundred yards.
Would I go back? I wouldn't say never but it wouldn't be my first choice. The location was good and once we got our check-in problems resolved our stay was fine, but those un-refurbished rooms really shouldn't be let out to paying guests and it would've certainly spoiled my weekend had I had to stay there.
Perhaps once the hotel is completely finished it will be a good choice, but at the minute don't let the 4-star status fool you, you can do better.
