You get what you pay for
19 July 2008
This is a basic cheap and cheerful hotel. The food was fine could be a hit and miss but what do you expect from AI? Hotel is very clean, a bit out of way but free bus come regularly or 5-10 minute safe walk down to Santa Susanna. Was a bit disappointed at Kid's Club, entertainers were not really trained or organised and our 4 and 7 year old gave it a miss after only 1 day. 2 pools, small park, table tennis and even gym uptairs. Entertainment at night a bit ropey - couple of dodgy singers and a parrot show but there's nothing to stop you from walking down to town. If you're looking for a cheap break in sun it's perfect. If you want 5 star - pay for it - and go somewhere else!

Value for Money
09 July 2008
Our room was good (but we did ask for a quiet one), food was hit & miss but we always found something to have, drinks were good & we can't comment on the entertainment as we went for walks or sat out on the terrace. We went to the beach in the mornings (after filling up on breakfast) and lay by the pool in the afternoons. Only things that bothered us was children running in corridors and a few guests who had drank too much. I believe the hotel and staff were child friendly. We can't believe that some people moaned about the food finishing at 9pm. After a big breakfast, snacks in the morning, lunch and a dessert, afternoon snacks, afternoon tea & biscuits, dinner & dessert, we were full to the brim! It's definitely not the best place, but it's not that bad either. It's certainly value for money and we enjoyed ourselves.

never again
12 June 2008
This is the worst all inclusive hotel I've stayed in. Enterainment was rubbish. It was out of the way.
I wouldn't go back to this hotel ever.
Santa Susanna itself is a nice resort.

hotel hell
12 June 2008
This was my first hoilday with my partner and 2 small children.
I would never go back to this hotel, the food was horrible, the staff never smiled and it is not child friendly.
In an out of the way of resort and you overlook a motorway. The food stops at 9 oclock, you can buy snacks at the bar but wouldn't advise you to buy them.
I would never go back to this hotel

LIDDLE ON HOLIDAY
04 June 2008
Well excellent value, cheap and cheerful, provided you have children and are happy to stay up late.
Clean, tidy but a bit dated. Staff so so. Food 6 out of 10.
Drink for all inclusive is a bit rough, but overall we would give it 3 out of 5.

Long Weekend Break ,Excellent
19 May 2008
Just returned Yesterday from the resort, We went thursday to sunday, We had an excellent time just the two of us, There was plenty to do within in the hotel,ie games, theme nights , karaoke, kids club, i would say that this hotel is more for younger childrens entertainment than older however their is a free bus right outide the hotel which takes you straight to the town centre fantastic at night times. There is a fun fair for children and lots of stalls . The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are clean with fresh towels each day and our bedding was changed even though we were only there for Three nights. The food was fine, If you are wanting a break from the norm we would recommend this hotel as you have got the best of both worlds ie relaxing weekend away from the kids, or if taking kids there is plenty of entertainment to keep them busy. All in All a brill Weekend. Cheers Rich & Linds

The hotel is basic but clean. I would rate the hotel 2* rather than 3*. The food was okay and the staff was very friendly. We went in beginning of April and the resort was full of children. Overall a relaxing holiday.

Fine!
01 November 2007
We went to the Santa Sussana Resort in October to celebrate my 60th birthday, not really knowing what to expect after reading reviews. Anyway we had a really good time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are clean with fresh towels each day and our bedding was changed even though we were only there for four nights. The food was fine, a good choice of salad (a salad bar with 12 different items) Good choice of hot food consisting mainly of roast chicken, pork in a rich sauce, pork slices in gravy, fish, pasta-meals,vegetables and chips The Spanish are not good with puddings but there was usually rice pudding, natillas (custard), ice cream and jelly available plus lovely fresh fruit. Breakfasts were English or continental. There was free transport down to the beach but it was a nice walk through a market garden area taking less than ten minutes. The hotel is aimed at families and I don't think I would want to be there in school holidays but we certainly enjoyed our stay. Entertainment not brilliant but there was something going on each evening. We took train rides to other local towns (1euro 25 single) and enjoyed the sunshine. Considering what we paid (AI), it was exceptional value for money. Good for a short break.

ace holiday!
23 August 2007
im a 15 year old teen and not long got back from going here.
the rooms were very good and cleaned everyday, the food was good with loads of different choices each day the snack bar was also really good and did nice food, at the bar it does say that your only aloud two drinks at a time but they always just give you however many you ask for! the pool area was exellent even though it does get a little crowded so if you do plan on hanging around the pool you should get there early to get sunbeds. All the staff there were really friendly and funny. the entertainment was ok but really made for younger children. the train that takes into the town was good and very frequent and theres also a supermarket about a minuites walk, all the people that are saying its noising because its near a road... its really not! and the people that are saying the foods rubbish its not!. i really cant think of anything bad to say about this holiday was the best holiday ive ever had and i would definitely go back!!

cheap and cheerfull
20 August 2007
Just got back from here on the 18 august didn't like it at first as we got there late on sat night went to the room all you could hear was the music pumpin from the club opposite and the main road which runs in front off the hotel but you get used to it.
The food was basic and bland, entertainment could have been a lot better - the hotel itself is very clean and kid friendly - we would not go there again and everybody I spoke to said the same.
The rooms above reception are very small with no balcony as my freinds found out and swopped room another family.

not bad but....................
12 August 2007
Hotel is fine cleaned everyday food not bad.pool gets very busy with a few foulmouthed yobs but its a cheap holiday so you have to expect that. we went for 2 weeks had a great time but one night while the entertainers were face painting for the small children they had a mirror resting on a table this fell off smashing and slashed my 10 yearold sons leg i asked if they had a firstaider but they haven`t!!!!! i asked for a firstaid kit they brought me tweezers and some toilet roll!!!!!!! luckily for us ther was an english nurse staying and she help us saving us a fortune in hospital fees so if your going take plenty of plasters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! other than that it was a great holiday and value for money p.s kate(nurse) if you read this thankyou very much for all your help.

Good base, good value
11 August 2007
Only stayed at the santa susana for 3 nights as a quick getaway and it was nowhere near as bad as some reviews suggest. My husband and I enjoyed the break. The hotel is basic, but also clean. It was constantly being cleaned. The food was ok. I think you would struggle to find much to eat if you were fussy. I have stayed all inclusive previously so you know that the food can sometimes be a bit iffy anyway. It was edible and that is all you need. The beer was amstel, which i like!! It is a good base for seeing barcelona on the train which we did. Cheap holiday and would think about using the hotel again because we were impressed with the resort which was modern and quiet.

30 July 2007
Had read numerous horrific reviews shortly after booking a 10 day holiday to Santa Susanna Resort Hotel. I will have to say that the holiday was great. I travelled with my 16 year old daughter and her two 16 year old friends. We all loved it. Food was repetitive but fine. None of us starved! Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms were cleaned every day. Cheap, cheerful holiday - excellent value for money.

Fawlty Towers without the laughs
02 July 2007
We went there for one week and thankfully thats all!
when I got there we weren't expecting anything but clean and air conditioned rooms after paying £2,000 for 4 adults and 4 small children however we received neither!!! i can't say it was filthy but it wasn't fresh and the rooms were not cleaned properly only getting clean sheets when I threw them on the floor. the staff I felt most folk treated them like slaves were helpful considering the way they were treated and one gentleman in reception was very nice (bald with glasses) most of the folk were not friendly between shouting at there kids and drinking at 10am as J,wirral sums it up thats the kind of clientelle!!! we were there about the same time. the food wasn't up to much prepared well just like slop served with chips however the snack bar and pool was nice my kids loved it there. Mini disco was good and my kids liked the staff who seemed to work 22 hours a day. When questioned about the star rating the uncouth manager ranted about London hotels not being clean silly little man. I could handle the slop, the lager louts even the loud noise at all hours of the dayand night but not having air conditioning in the rooms was the final straw that broke the camels back. Santa susana as a place was nice and that hotel has potential with a face lift and revamp not to forget air con I know you get what you pay for but we talked to one of the only few nice couples we met paid £495 each which in my opinion is to much for this place!!
couldn't recommend this hotel but if you pay less money and want hot cheap nearly clean then thats the one. not or ever again for us or anyone else who cant drink vodka in the morning!! P S 2 little kids were found abused - battered in there rooms they were taken to hospital hope they are ok!! that just sums up the kind of place it is!!

4 day break
26 June 2007
hotel good for short break, took our 16 & 10 year olds, youngest was fine & loved the pool, eldest didn't have anything to do. Staff were friendly enough, rooms were clean, all other facilities spotless. unfortunately we did a similar break last october somewhere else & kept comparing. The food wasn't upto much - well prepared but not enough variety. No veg for evening meals & everything came with chips! Eldest just ate from the snack bar during the day which was really good. Overall happy with the hotel but the people were not upto much. Expect to join families who save up all year to come here for their main holiday - that basically sums up clientelle! Wouldn't recommend it here but if you want somewhere clean, cheap & hot then it's good but don't expect anything else.

Fab Value!
21 April 2007
Fantastic Value for money!!! But there will always be the element who want to exploit All inclusive. If you want a hotel as a base for touring, or are a family who wants pool and facilities for kids... great stuff! Santa Susanna is a relatively new resort so not lots to do. Hotel was also spotless - never seen so many cleaners! Rooms chilly in April, but we were lower ground floor. Cant really fault it for price.

santa susanna resort
17 April 2007
The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful, but if the weather is bad, honestly there is nothing to do. The rooms are very cold when its raining, so you will need extra blankets. The food was ok, but after 9pm you have to pay for it. Take plenty of clothing as you also have to pay for the washing machine. Take the bus into town as locally thats all there is to do. If you have booked this resort i suggest a pack of cards and plenty of travel games and a few good books.

Review of 'SANTA SUSANA RESORT'
09 April 2007
Exactly what I was looking for - somewhere suitable for a few days away with my 7 year old son that would do just the job of entertaining him, providing comfortable accommodation & value for money. If you are looking to tick these boxes then this is the place for you. I couldn''t have done all inclusive for2 weeks - but then I wasn''t looking to. The all inclusive food was perfectly adequate for what I was expecting - it was plentiful & lots of options. Plenty of entertainment for my little boy & the staff were excellent - always friendly & available, & it seemed that the place was permanently being cleaned. If you want 5 star - then go & book it & pay for it, but if you are looking for sound value for money - then this is more than good enough. I maybe wouldn't do a full fortnight here, but I'd certainly recommend it for a good fun value week away.

Review of 'SANTA SUSANA RESORT'
01 November 2006
We travelled in Oct half Term at the end of the season. It was perfect for this time of year.I have to say that I would be wary about booking during busy periods and when the weather is scorching as there is no air con -I can imagine the rooms become unbearable. The hotel is all inclusive -the drinks and snacks are great for the children. Most alcoholic drinks available. The main food was not the best I have had, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for.It was edible and varied - many people were more than happy with it. I'm told that this time last year the kids club was brilliant, but not much cop this year.Entertainment - one night Flamenco and the rest Karaoke. All in all this is good value for the money you pay - perfect for exploring Barcelona (6 euros return on train), Calella and the other surrounding resorts. Watch out for the taxis from Santa Susanna - can be a rip off for a small journey home. A great place as a base or for lounging round the pool. Temperatures reaching over 26c not bad for end of Oct.

I went to the santa susanna in april this year with 3 other friends. the hotel was good. rooms were basic, yeah, but ours were really small. the "balcony" was a bit of a waste because you had to stand on tip toes to see over but when you did you got a lovely view of veg fields. however thats my only complaint about the holiday. the staff were great and really friendly. entertainment was ok but if your a group of 4 girls between 18 and 24 its not exactly what your looking for. Clubs aren't too far away but there is a walk down a dodgy road before you get there. Food was good, plenty to chose from but id warn vegitarians away. all in all great base to have for lying by the pool and going out at night

Myself and 6 mates booked a short break to celebrate my 40th birthday.
Unknown to me, my mates had all read the reviews, as had I, so we were all worried - but with no need! We had a fabulous time.
Hotel was clean, rooms were basic (but then they're only for laying your head in anyway - why do you want to watch TV on holiday??) staff were friendly, food was varied and ample, all in all nothing to complain about.
We wanted a cheap holiday and got much more than anticipated - think the moral of the story would be don't expect 5* at 1* prices!!

We were really nervous about our holiday after reading some of the reviews. It certainly wasn't the best holiday that I have been on but it was definately the cheapest! and like everything in life you get what you pay for. The rooms are basic (cleaned daily, towels changed) Food is plentiful and of decent quality there was alot of choice so always something to please everyone. It takes about five minutes to walk to the beach which has got some lovely shops, bars and cafe's. The only problem that I came across was some of the other guests, in one statement 'too much booze' most evenings we left the hotel.

SARAH AND GLENN
14 September 2006
Before we went on the holiday we read all the reviws people had written about the hotel- some good, some bad. After reading them we decided to travel with an open mind to what the hotel would be like. On arrival, a holiday maker in the hotel greeted us by reception after our long journey with the statement "welcome to faulty towers". We really didnt know what to think apart from oh no! anyway we checked in- nice friendly staff and made our way up to the room, first impressions were basic but clean and big enough with a nice bathroom with bath, shower, bidet and sink. It was good enough for us. the balcony was also a fair size, however i needed a chair to stand on to see over the top. no air con but we slept with balcony door open all the time..... oh.... do invest in a mosquito plug in as the hotel lies in a swamp of them. We didnt need a fan. The pool is nice, clean- however does get busy on hot days. The location was excellent in my eyes, situated next to a big supermarket only a stones throw away from the local town and beach. which was absoloutly breathtaking. Food- good enough for me. sometimes missed breakfast so went to english pub down the road. wide selection of snacks drinks and meals. entertainment for adults is ok, a few kareoke nights, guest singers etc, very enjoyable. The people you meet there are amazing. we came home with new friends and throughly enjoyed every minuite! all in all this has been one of the best holidays ive ever been on and i would deffinately come again- maybe even with the friends we met there. STRONGLY advise you to check room for any damage ( and report it) as soon as you get there, to avoid the "damage to room" scam as you try to leave!!! Have just returned and was charged 75euros for damage that was already there!!! ( reduced from 150euros) after being threatened with the police, missing flight etc. Being innocent, I told them to call the police!! They eventually turned up ( not very interested) and with taxi waiting, and time running out to catch flight we paid half!! This episode apart, hotel & food were ok ( except the sausages and coffee!!) ok to use as base to explore, not sit and vegitate

Review of 'SANTA SUSANA RESORT'
12 August 2006
Santa Susana Resort was spotless and thoroughly cleaned every day. The food was good, the staff were friendly and worked very hard. It was well worth the money that we paid for our weeks stay, the only thing I think they could do better on is the evening entertainment, not much to make you stay in the hotel and there is not one focal point for all to sit in,it is scattered about.
The only other thing was the noise from the main road during the night, if you had your balcony door opened because of the heat you could hear the traffic as the road is never quite. Didn't notice it during the day with the music on around the pool.
Other than that we did enjoy our holiday and would recommend the hotel to friends, and would use alpha rooms again.

31 July 2006
This was our second visit to the santa susanna resort in july start of the summer and cheap 3 star accomadation is exactly what it states and is!!! For what we payed we could not grumble, on the whole the hotel is clean the maid service in the room was slightly slap dash but cleaned daily. The food was plentifle in choice and quantity and the childrens buffet was fabulous for those fussy little eaters. The snacks at the snack bar where continuous needless to say we ate in abundance and put on half a stone each!! Entertainment was what you would expect in a small hotel and i have seen far worse kareoke's and singers ect and the fact you can get on the free bus to and fro the beach and town is defiantly a bonus although to be fair it is only about a good five minute walk! For what you pay this hotel is defiantly value for money and the kids had the time of their lives. Only problem really is getting a lounger around the pool but then what do you expect in the summer holidays in spain.

Just back from Santa Susana Resort the worst place i have ever stayed. It's not clean. Children running everywhere doing what they like. The pool area is disgusting. No air conditioning. We had to hire a fan.entertainment consists children singing kareoke for the adults, thats if you can find a seat.very hot in july but you could not take a dip as you could hardly see the surface of the water for kids and inflatables, which was probably a good thing to stop you seeing what was floating underneath(use your imagination).food and drink ok if you like hot dogs and burgers and chekov vodka.60s butlins revisited.

Review of 'SANTA SUSANA RESORT'

We were dreading our holiday after reading bad reviews of hotel. But we were really surprised. Our room was huge and very clean. We had cleaners in every day and were given fresh towels. The food was O.K, breakfasts were great and plenty of it. We found it was better to goto meal times early before the dining room got too busy and hot. The children loved it and took part in all entertainment. I felt the three boys were in a safe environment. I would ask for a room on the top floor at the back of hotel if you prefere it quiet, we were lucky and never heard a sound, but i would imagine if you are near the rreception it could be noisy at night. We found the beach a bit disapointing the sand was shipped in and not very clean. We would recomend a train journey up the coast for great beaches. We also had a fantastic day in Barcelona (6 euros return on the train)

we had a pleasant time in this hotel. it was basic but clean and tidy. the food was not of a very good standard. although it was well presented and attended to it lacked taste and was probably the one thing that spoiled our stay. we were all inclusive so therefore the food is paramount!the reception were very helpful and very pleasant. the bar staff could do with smiling a little more and were sometimes not interested in how they sereved your drinks, which again were somewhat disappointing. the entertainmentis predominately aimed at an english audience but it wasn't too bad if you like karoake. the resort itself was nice and there are plenty of shops etc...

Rooms very spacious and clean, Staff very friendly. Food was atrocious. We travel to Spain three times a year but this was the worst place we have ever been to. We had to eat out every day. Thank goodness we weren't there for a fortnight.

fabulas holiday! Bar staff was outstanding, reception staff, very considerate and helpful, but some of the animation staff were rude and so unhelpful, the kindest animation staff was the blonde haired women, who does party dances and lauren! The food was horrid, always the same, old, recycled stuff! but in dining room the coffee is RAM!!! I loved the rooms, although they smelt a bit funny! ONE OF THE OVERALL PROMLEMS WERE THE ICECUBES, THEY MADE YOU POORLY! (some helpful advise, ask for no ice cubes!) But most of it was nice, i mean... you get what you pay for!
