Three night stay June 2008

22 June 2008
After reading some reviews after booking we were very worried, but once there we were pleasantly surprised. Stayed in twin room (maybe more room in this than double)it was big enough but no air con., would not like to stay in height of summer. Very large hotel, standard good cosidering the size. breakfast plentiful, sheets clean, bathroom small, but met our needs. Good location, very central, only three or four minutes walk from tube, no complaints.

Overnight stay

18 April 2008
This is our second stay at the St Giles. The first was part of a pre-booked trip to see the Terracotta Warriers and the Tut Exhibition. Thought it great value so booked a second visit. We had a great stay and fitted in a show as the hotel is so central to theatre land, Covent Garden, Picadilly and the Thames. Had a good room with shower. tea/coffee making facilities. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good but my husband bemoaned the fact that there were no fried eggs or toast. It is a bit cafeteria style but very good value and basically as much as you can eat. You can leave bags securely while you sightsee after booking out. A great little find and one that will become a favourite and be used time and again

5 minutes walk from Tottenham Court Rd tube station. Busy hotel, efficient check-in. Single room small, en suite facilities very compact. Kettle, tea and coffee provided. Good Breakfast, a queue after 8am moves quickly, system - stand in queue, place food on tray, find a table - works well. Not the Ritz! but value for money. Second visit, will stay again.

Good Hotel

30 January 2008
This hotel is ideally situated. At the bottom of Oxford St., central to all the theatres and 2 minutes from a tube station. The rooms are small but well appointed. It could do with a bit of tlc as some of the decor is looking a bit worn but it is great value for money for central London. The room has the usual TV, tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries in the bathroom etc. There are free papers in the lobby as well as an ice machine. Breakfast was good with plenty to choose from, ranging from full cooked breakfast to fruit, croissants, and cereal. Overall I had a pleasant stay and I would stay here again.

Ideal for Theatres

21 January 2008
We stayed at this hotel in January 2007 as part of a theatre trip. The hotel is very convenient for all the theatres and many eating places. The room was small but clean and adequate. Staff were very helpful and we were able to leave our case there next morning so that we could go sightseeing. The Breakfast room does get very busy but we didn't wait too long for a table and then we could help ourselves and relax and enjoy the very good breakfast. We will definately stay there again.

Review of Saint Giles

31 August 2007
The first thing I noticed about the Saint Giles was the nice hall/reception area with a concierge at hand. It is very close to Oxford Street and just round the corner from Tottenham Court Road tube station. The main thing was that it was good value for money compared to other central London hotels and it certainly wasn't like any other budget hotel I've ever stayed in! The only downside was that our room was tiny and that the breakfast room is very busy so allow plenty of time if you need to be anywhere at a certain time! The staff were nice and there is lots to do in the hotel alone including a choice of restaurants/bars and the internet.

Review of 'SAINT GILES'

I had a small (and I mean small) but adequate room at St Giles.  It was clean, comparatively quiet and perfectly fine for a business stay in London.  The staff were helpful and pleasant.  The breakfast was good with decent coffee though a little cafeteria/school dinners in ambience.  What I rate highly is the excellent location - it was possible to walk everywhere to a range of meetings and, as a female lone traveller, it felt safe.  Great local facilities included supermarkets open late and other places such as bars and restaurants.  I'd definitely stay here again.

The rooms were compact but perfectly adequate for our one night stay, but the best thing about it was the location - we could walk everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel. We will be back.

The localtion of this hotel is brilliant, right by the Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The rooms themselves are on the small side but they are spotlessly clean and well appointed. The main drawback was the lifts - they are small and at busy times you can have a long wait. The breakfast was good, although on the days I was there the queues for the continental breakfast was long. I consider the hotel very good value for money and would stay there again.

Review of 'SAINT GILES'

We found the staff friendly, polite and helpful.  Breakfast was plentiful.  The pool is nice but one is restricted to doing laps rather than lounging, floating or anything else associated with a hotel pool.  Rooms are small but adequate, I would have preferred to have a tub along with a shower too.  Everything is very clean.  Most of the time the lifts are no problem, sometimes they get very crowded or you have to wait a bit.  The location is very convenient to most of the best things to see and do in London.  It does get noisy at night but that is not really the fault of the hotel, all the drunks leaving the bars sometimes yell at the top of their lungs (you can always tell who didn't get enough attention when they were children).  It was quite warm when we were there, and those of us from the states are used to our creature comforts--we missed air conditioning (which we now understand is available at a much greater price than our room).  It is good to be energy-conscious but air-conditioning is standard at home and we get quite used to it.  They will provide a fan, and opening the window (will open part way) will provide some cross-ventilation.  Of course, you get the "drunk" noises when you open the window.  Speaking of windows, we were on the ninth floor and were pleasantly surprised to find we had a view of Big Ben and the London Eye!

After booking Saint Giles hotel through this web site I came across some reviews and started to worry I had chosen the wrong Hotel as I was expecting something quite shabby and not very good, but we found it to be quite different so I decided to write my own review about it on here.
Close to Euston station and Very well situated for Oxford street,(shopping) The West End (Theatres), Tottenham court underground (getting to places of Interest)and all buses (to hop on and hop off)advise a daily bus ticket £3 from machines at bus stops. We found the hotel very good value for money considering London prices, Decor of rooms very pleasant, beds changed daily all staff very courteous and helpful, breakfast was satisfactory. The only real downside we found was the bathroom was very small and only had a shower.
Don't expect complete quietness or a pleasant view as you have to remember this hotel is in the Centre of London, but we closed the small window at night which shut most of the traffic noise out, it did not stop us getting a good nights sleep. This hotel has 600+ rooms and only 4 lifts, we had a room on the second floor, there being 12 floors in total so expect to be patient or if you are extremely fit there are the stairs to use. the first 2 floors are smoking rooms the other 10 floors being for non smokers. We didn't get to use the leisure facilities as we found we didn't have the time, but the pool looked very nice and the hotel supplied towels if you wanted them.
We would definately book this hotel again if we go back to London.
