review rubymar

14 July 2008
not a good start we were given room 248(BIS) not a proper room gaping hole in ceiling, very small,no air con, no safe, very small shower only and wires sticking out of the walls...not very 4 star,we were eventually put into a nicer room(after 2 nights) and a lot of complaining from ourselves and it was then ok,although i dont really rate this hotel at all, they seem to be very understaffed, only 1 waiter who seemed to do everything even fry the eggs in the morning. dont bother with breakfast it is horrible and the dining room seems very unhygenic but with only 1 waiter there was a limit to what he could do the rooms are kept very clean and the maids come in each day and the pool area is very nice, although the wirlpool was never working, the hotel is in a nice area being close to the marina but the almost empty shopping centre is a bit of an eyesore.playa blanca is a lovely resort but i would never go back to the rubymar

We have just returned from the Rubymar and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apts were nice and clean, the downside being the settee was very small and uncomfortable. We had breakfast at the hotel twice and we found that enough as the food was tepid and not very appetising. Although we enjoyed our stay we found it too be a bit quiet.

Stayed Jan 2007, room very good, excellent location right next to Rubicon Marina. the food at the marina restaurants is not as good as I expected and the drinks can work out to be expensive. Never ate at the Rubimar so can't comment on the food there. On the whole it was an enjoyable 10 day stay and a much more relaxing resort than Puerto del Carmen and I would certainly recommend the Rubimar.

Good facilities, modern hotel, good gym, location roughly central on Playa Blanca promenade near marina. Management and service standards below average, particlaurlarly in respect of food simply not being kept hot (at best tepid-this is reported in other website reviews and has been a continuing theme for some time), indoor pool lights not being switched on (swimming in dark at 7pm when pool open until 9pm), Management go home at 5pm.

My wife and I stayed at this aparthotel 1st March this year for one week. Reception staff very pleasant. Room spotless with lovely views over Marina Rubicon and towards Fuerteventura. We found the location excellent with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the indoor heated swimming pool (the outdoor pool was too cold!) and the gym facilities. Would definitely return to this resort.

Location - fabulous [at the moment]. However we have concerns that the bowling alley and shopping complex being built next door might have an undesirable affect when in full use at height of season. Mainly Spanish staying there, which we liked. Close proximity to exclusive Marina area, up-market shopping and dining. Lovely pool, cleaned every day.  Apartments spotless, only 1 year old. If we are really picky, they could use a clothes airer/dryer on balconies, rather than guests hanging towels over balcony rails, a colander/strainer and a corkscrew in the kitchen! Reception very helpful and obliging.  Would definitely stay here again.
