not so good

17 August 2007
Sorry to say had not a great experience here, booked this hotel for two nights flying visit, going to Spamalot in West End+few other prearranged activities.Ended up in basement room B6 tiny twin room, bathroom door off the hinges granted I did not complain about this until second day as we spent very little time in hotel but I would have thought this was a pretty obvious matter to service staff.I found the dining room to be a bit of a scrum in morning for breakfast and inadequate to cater for volume of guests.Positives;good location staff pleasant but overall bad experience.

This is a good value hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms. It is located near a tube station and bus routes and it is handy for many popular attractions. Only negative is some noise from traffic and the trains underground.

As my english is everything but perfect I won't really have the chance to make the best review of the month (no i pod in my near future, I guess). Anyway I'm very pleased to write down a few lines to suggest everybody to chose the Royal Eagle Hotel as their next accomodation in London. It's cheap, clean and well located (just a 5 min walk from Paddington St). The last was the 2nd time I have been there with my wife and I'm completely satisfied. If you're a budget traveller (and if you earn a Euro wages you definitely are) the Royal Eagle can be your choice. And with the pounds saved you could go to Chelsea's King's Road and do some crazy shopping (not so crazy, mate...). Enjoy your stay!

Good location, good standard hotel, very clean.  Yes the rooms are a little small but they serve the purpose for a weekend stay.  Good Italiane restaurants yards from the hotel at very reasonable prices.

The hotel from the outside looked surprisingly nice, considering it was 3*, as was the main reception area. The reception staff were very polite and helpful and dealt with us efficently, whilst giving us information on places to visit in London, maps etc..these turned out to be very useful.
We made our way up the room, excited as everything so far seemed nice, however when we came out of the lift we started to notice the carpets were looking very worn and a little dated and the floors boards were very noisy. Our room was quite disappointing as it was very small with no tea/coffee facilities, however,it was very clean as was the bathroom. The hotel was located very near to the tube station, say 300 yards and the hotel was easy to find. It was good location to be in, for example to go the museums( Natural Hisatoory Museum) in South kensington and then to the WestEnd (say 4/5 stops on the tube). There were also bus stops with buses running evey 20 mins or so, if the tube isn't your idea of ideal travel. The breakfast was a self service continental- toast, jams, croissants, cereals, juices and tea/coffee with staff clearing the tables at all times to accomodate the guests coimng down to breakfast. The only thing that I did not like about the hotel was the fact that our room was near the lift and a door leading to other rooms and when people were walking through it,it made a hall of a noise. Along with this we could hear trains on the near by underground going by. However if like us you were not spending too much time in the hotel, but just a place to rest your head, its a great central location with a few pubs and lovely italian resturants near by and was generally good value for money.
